3 2.1 Computer Setup for Ethernet: You will need to change your computer IP Address in order to communicate with the Telemecanique TSXETG100 via Ethernet cable. This is required in order to access the device operating software and enable monitoring mode Procedure: - (Control Panel, Network Connections, Local Area Connection, Properties, Internet Protocol, User ID (enter IP address below), Sub Net Mask (enter IP address below), OK to exit.). Change your computers IP address to and the subnet mask to Connect your computer to the TSX unit using an Ethernet cable. Open Internet Explorer. In the address bar at the top of page, type in and press enter. You will now be prompted for a username and password. For username type Administrator and for password type Gateway. The screen below shows the IP address and subnet mask address required to be search for by Internet Explorer. Enter the names exactly as shown above. 3

4 Below is the TSXETG100 software homepage. Internet Explorer will open this page after you ve entered the right username and password.i.e. Username: Administrator Password: Gateway 4

5 Now click on Setup in the top right corner and enter data as indicated in the picture below. Ensure details are as shown, and press Apply button. Minimise TSX homepage. Do not close the software. Ethernet & TCP/IP: Use this setting to assign the required network IP to the Gateway 5

9 3.0 Data Send Program (example only) The following example is a very simple program written to verify that the values sent to the Telemecanique TSX device are being received. The user will need to incorporate similar move function into a working program. Configure the program as shown below and download this to the GM4. If an existing working program exists, use the Online Edit Start function, add the following line and click on Online Edit Write. Ensure Plc is Connected and On-line. In this program example, because the TSXETG100 is a read only device, we need to move marker word values from the GM4 into register area of the TSX device. By reading these values back from the TSX device, we can confirm that the values have been communicated via Modbus. NOTE:- the words VALL and HJL in this example are unassigned integers (INT). This enables us to be able to type in any numeric value directly into them while on-line. The marker words %MW4 and %MW6 are assigned integers (INT). 9

10 4.0 TSXETG100 Program: Maximise the TSX program. This device should still be connected via Internet Explorer and Ethernet. Click on box marked Diagnostics. Insert the device ID as station 2 and enter starting register number. This is the marker word region you would like to read. With reference to the example program, the register area is starting at marker word 4 (%MW4). Therefore, we could select 4 as starting register and 3 as the number of registers (%MW4, %MW5 and %MW6). However, in the dialogue box shown, all registers from 1 to 10 are displayed. 4.1 Reading Values From TSXETG100 Click on GMWIN software. Type in values into VAL and HJL such as 1234 and 9876 as shown in the example Click on TSX software again, click on Read Holding Registers and the values 1234 and 9876 should appear on the screen in the Register 4 and Register 6 display area. The client is responsible for setting up the desired %MW ranges, register addresses and number of registers in both devices. It is good practise and good programming to ensure that all relevant data which needs to be communicated be listed sequentially where possible. For example: PLC MW range from %MW10 to %MW25, TSX Register range 10 to 25 and number of registers
