1. Introduction 1. Introduction This chapter describes the following content: Definition and purpose Overview Structure of the document 1.1 Definition and purpose The user documentation is intended for end users of the information system and includes all information required in order to operate the system properly and to respond appropriately to problems. Two central aims are to be pursued here: The user documentation assists end users who are unfamiliar with the system in their first steps as they systematically acquaint themselves with the "new" system. For experienced end users, the user documentation serves as a reference work for detailed questions. 1.2 Overview PAG will employ component protection for the Cayenne (E2) vehicle. The immobiliser-system database supplies the unlock data to the Tester for teaching the components. In particular, component protection will also be repaired with the Sales Tester. For this purpose, the Sales Tester with the KSA (component protection teaching) application determines the installed component protection users and programs them. 1.3 Structure of the document In Chapter 2, the user can get started quickly and familiarise himself with the application. The chapter describes basic principles and getting started. Chapter 3 describes how to use the application. 3

1. Introduction Chapter 4 addresses troubleshooting. 4

2. Quick start 2. Quick start This chapter includes an overview and an introduction regarding the use of the immobiliser system 5 teaching application. 2.1 Overview The system described here is used in repairing the component protection of the Cayenne vehicle. It may be necessary to repair the component protection due to newly installed control units. All controlunit functions are enabled after the teaching process has been performed. In general terms, the diagnostic system combines the control units to form an intact component protection control unit group, which is ready for operation after the teaching process. A teaching process can be subdivided into four segments: 1. Starting the component protection teaching application The system first checks whether all necessary control units are installed and (immobiliser system 5) have been taught. It is not possible to teach the control unit if a control unit is missing or an immobiliser-system 5 control unit has not been taught. The teaching process must be repeated after installation of the control unit. The teaching process is ended if the airbag or gateway is not present. Otherwise, the vehicle's chassis number is determined from the control units. The user can adopt or change this number. The user must provide authentication to PPN in order to continue the teaching process. 2. Switching the ignition on The vehicle's ignition must be switched on as a further prerequisite for successful teaching. 5

2. Quick start If the control unit group is intact and a key has already been taught, this key can be used to switch the ignition on during the teaching process. 3. Teaching the airbag control unit During the teaching process, the Tester reads out the required control-unit data and forwards it via PPN. Once the data has been checked in the immobiliser-system database, the unlock data is provided to the Tester. The Tester writes the data into the control units for teaching. 4. Teaching the gateway control unit During the teaching process, the Tester reads out the required control-unit data and forwards it via PPN. Once the data has been checked in the immobiliser-system database, the unlock data is provided to the Tester. The Tester writes the data into the control units for teaching. 2.2 Getting started This chapter covers the activation of the diagnostic system and the structure of the user interface for the component protection teaching application Activating the diagnostic system In order to ensure that replaced control units can be newly activated and configured, the system must be structured as shown in Overview. Proceed as follows: 1. Connect the diagnostic connector with the vehicle and the Sales Tester. 2. Connect the Sales Tester with the network. 6

2. Quick start Structure of the user interface The user interface is subdivided into three areas: 1. Instructions: Instructions that must be carried out next are displayed here. 2. Info/text: This area provides additional information and instructions. 3. Operation: The lower area of the user interface includes buttons with which you can operate the system. You can find an explanation of the buttons and their functions in the table below. You can end the application with Exit or Esc. You can launch the user documentation with Help or F1. You can access a version overview with "Information" or F2: 7

2. Quick start You can make language changes using "Language" or F3. It is currently possible to select English or German. Changes become effective immediately. You can use "Print" or F10 to print out error messages. You can abort the process and restart it from the beginning with "Cancel" or F11. "Next" or F12 systematically guides you through the entire process. 8

3. Using the application 3. Using the application This chapter covers the use of the application. The process description is subdivided into the following areas: Starting the component protection teaching application Teaching the airbag control unit Teaching the gateway control unit 3.1 Starting the component protection teaching application Please start the application. You can select a vehicle in the start screen. Note: Under "Language settings" (F3), you can select one of nine languages at any time. Changes become effective immediately. Then click on "Next" or F12. 9

3. Using the application Please select the control unit to be taught. Then click on "Next" or F12. Note: The gateway must already have been taught before the airbag control unit can be taught. Please insert the key into the ignition lock now and switch the ignition on. Then click on "Next" or F12. Important: If the ignition cannot be switched on, the immobiliser-system unit must be taught with the online teaching function. 10

3. Using the application Please enter your PPN user name and password here. Then click on "Next" or F12. If the login was successful, the message shown on the left will appear. Then click on "Next" or F12. 11

3. Using the application The following VIN (chassis number) was determined. Please adapt the chassis number if necessary and enter your repair order number. Then click on "Next" or F12. In the subsequent steps, please refer to the information for the respective control unit. 3.2 Teaching the gateway control unit Keys for activation of the control units were received. Then click on "Next" or F12. 12

3. Using the application Ready; the control unit has been taught. Please perform the sequence for the control units which have not been taught. Then click on "Next" or F Teaching the airbag control unit Keys for activation of the control units were received. Then click on "Next" or F12. 13

3. Using the application Ready; the control units have been taught. The final teaching status is displayed. Then click on "Next" or F12. 14
