3 Installing the JMSL Numerical Library for Java 1. Executing the install program Insert the CD, and the install program should start automatically. If it does not start, run setup.jar in the root directory of the CD. 2. Welcome The first window introduces the installation program for the JMSL Library. Click Install JMSL Numeric Library to continue. 4

4 3. License Number If you have a License Number, enter it at this point. If you do not yet have a license number or you are evaluating the product, input Press Next > to continue. 5

5 4. Install directory Set the directory where the JMSL Library will be installed. Browse the directory tree to select a location. To create a new directory, use the icon in the upper right. Press Next > when you are satisfied with the selection. 6

6 5. Installation summary The library is ready to be installed. Click Install to continue. 7

7 6. Installation progress You will be updated as the installation proceeds. 8

8 7. License information This screen contains all of the necessary information to obtain a permanent license file for the JMSL Library. If you have purchased the product and need a permanent key, copy and paste this information into an and send it to lmgr@roguewave.com. If you are evaluating the product, you do not need this information yet. Press Next > to continue. 9

9 8. License Manager This screen allows you to enter a DEMO or permanent license file information. If you are evaluating the product and have a demo key, fill in the [expiration_date] and [license_key] placeholders and click Save File. If you need to run a license server, it can be started here (note that you do not need to run the server with a DEMO key). 10

10 9. Installation complete After the license management step, the installation is complete. Click Finish to close the setup program. 11

11 License Key setup License Key setup for the JMSL Numerical Library for Java Depending on the installation, not all steps are required. Evaluations: To enter a temporary demo key, follow Steps 1 and 2. Unlimited Server: For an uncounted server key, follow Steps 1 and 2. Per User: For node-locked or floating keys, follow Steps 1 through Permanent License Key information For a permanent License Key, specific information about your system is required. To obtain this information, follow Step 7 on the previous web page or change the root directory of the install location of JMSL and run the command java jar setup.jar hostid > hostid.txt. The information contained in hostid.txt should be ed to lmgr@roguewave.com so that a permanent License Key for this system can be created. 12

12 2. License Key input Once you receive your permanent License Key, or if you are using a temporary DEMO key, the information needs to be copied into the license.dat file. The default location of this file is [JMSL install dir]\license.dat. You can do this manually in a text editor or use the JMSL Setup GUI to edit and save the license.dat file. Below are two example license.dat files. 13 The license manager can be configured from the setup.jar used to install JMSL by running java jar setup.jar from a command line. Select the start button from the License Manager screen to start the license manager. 14

14 Other information which may be useful If there is ever a problem checking out licenses, the first step should be to stop and restart the server using the Start and Stop buttons. The address of the license manager at Rogue Wave Software is lmgr@roguewave.com. 15

16 Compiling and running the program Compiling and executing a program calling the JMSL Numerical Library for Java 1. Setting the environment variables The CLASSPATH environment variable must include the jmsl.jar file. This can be configured ahead of time using the appropriate commands for your environment. Alternatively, it can be supplied at the command line. For this example, the variable will be set at the command line. 2. Compile the program Windows > javac -classpath.;c:\install_dir\imsl\jmsl500\lib\jmsl.jar Jmsl.java UNIX/Linux % javac -classpath.:/install_dir/imsl/jmsl500/lib/jmsl.jar Jmsl.java 3.
