1 CSC 101L Summer 2010 Lab #7 Photoshop I Familiarization Your Name: WFU address: Objectives of this lab: Lab Questions: There are short-answer questions embedded in the instructions and at the end. Answer these questions by selecting the correct response(s). If you do not finish the lab during the lab period, finish it after the quiz on Wednesday. Post your edited image file thread.jpg to your web page as instructed in Step IV, V, and VI, and submit this lab report to complete the lab. Create a lab7 Folder Within your csc101 folder, create a new folder and name it lab7. Download the file named thread.psd from the Resources link of the course web page and store it under the name thread.psd in your lab7 folder. The file will also be ed to you before lab. III. Familiarization Exercises Some of these exercises are very simple and the answer will be immediately obvious. When that is not the case, it is up to you to use the built-in Photoshop Help facilities to find the answers. The collection of icons on the left side of the Photoshop interface is called the Toolbox. This first exercise will help you become familiar with the location and name of some frequently used Photoshop tools. You will use some of these in this lab and the next lab to edit images.

Changing an object color in an image You will need to work out a solution to this task on your own based on the classroom demonstration. Hint: Use Help to read about "replace color command" 1) Open the image file, thread.psd. Ignore any error messages you receive when you open the file. 2) Change the color of the foremost thread roll from orange to light purple. (See the images below.) 5 Describe how you approached this task and your process. Note: Your description is more important than the appearance of your recolored image, so please take your time and describe what you did. If you have successfully changed the color of the orange roll of thread: describe how you did it step-by-step, if possible comment which part of the online Help instructions you find useful or confusing IV. Save as a JPEG Once you have finished making changes to thread.psd, use File -> Save As to save it as a JPEG image. Use the default values. V. Upload your thread.psd file Upload your thread.jpg file to your csc101\lab7 folder on the web server VI. Modify your index.html file for your csc101 lab page to add an entry for lab7, similar to that for lab6. All you need for the lab7 entry is a link to your thread.jpg file. **** If you are having problems seeing your files after they are uploaded, try updating your permissions. Goto and enter your username and password. - Select Set permissions for personal home page and click continue. - Select yes from pull down menu and click SUBMIT - This should solve most problems.
