3 Introduction How to use this Guide Welcome to the Promap V User Guide. This guide is designed to work in accordance with the range of training courses designed for Promap. For each section of your training course you will find an image page along with some hints and tips relating to that section and a notes section where you can complete your own notes. About Promap With over 7,000 users, Promap is the fastest, easiest and most reliable system for busy surveyors, architects, developers, house builders, engineers and property professionals who require immediate access to mapping. As the UK s market leader to the property professional, Promap puts you in control by providing a powerful and flexible tool for instantly locating, viewing, measuring, customising, printing and exporting maps. In addition, you can now export a number of datasets in a variety of formats for use with CAD and GIS systems. As well as mapping, Promap also gives you access to more products and features than any other online mapping system. 5 Use your normal Promap username to log in at any point using this icon, or you will be prompted to log in before ordering. Use the Address Search Bar to locate your site. You can search using address, OS tile, or grid reference. You can also search using a Land Registry title number in the Address Search Bar. Land Registry polygons will be autofilled on the map when searched. If you revisit a previous site, any nearby orders will be highlighted in notification in the top left-hand corner. 6 Map Layers SECTION Choose between available mapping layers on the Mapping Layers panel on the right-hand side of your screen. Available layers include: OS MasterMap Topography Layer OS Detail Survey scale: Provider: Common uses: Styles: :,50 (Settlement) :,500 (Rural) :0,000 (Moorlands) Ordnance Survey Comprehensive mapping showing houses, factories, rivers, administration boundaries, building outlines, field boundaries Colour, black and white and hybrid (combining aerial) Promap V User Guide 04

7 Defining Sites and Printing SECTION3 Promap V s print options provide high quality PDFs and images, which are perfect for use in planning applications or site location plans. Product Menu Print Preview and Add to Basket 3 Mapping Layers and Drawing & Measuring Tools 3 Promap V User Guide 05

8 Select Print from the Task tabs on the left-hand side of your screen. Use the Drawing & Measuring tools (overviewed in the next section) to annotate your map. Choose the required Print Scale, Paper Size, Orientation and Format within the Product Menu on the left-hand side of your screen. Once ready, either double check your order using Print Preview or Add to Basket. Now you ve added your product to the basket. Head to the basket using the icon in the top right-hand corner. Add a Project Reference and Purchase Order Reference and hit Submit Order to complete. You will be directed to the Order History page to access your order. Notes Promap V User Guide 06

9 Drawing and Measuring Tools SECTION MasterMap Flood Fill Tool: When the MasterMap layer is active, this tool enables you to fill any map polygons on screen. Line Tool: Draw linear objects. Click to start or add a new point and double click to finish a shape. Shape Tool: Draw polygon objects. Click to start or add a new point and double click to finish a shape Rectangle Tool: Draw rectangle polygons. Click to start and double click to finish a shape. Circle Tool: Draw circle polygons. Click to start and double click to finish a shape. 6 Text Tool: Add text boxes. Click to start and double click to finish. Text updates are made in the Text properties panel when the text box is active. 7 Custom Shapes Tool: When active the Shapes tool allows you to add saved shapes and manage your drawing libraries. 5 8 Measure Tool: Measure linear distances. Click to start or add a new point and double click to finish a shape. 9 Delete All Polygons: Deletes all shapes on the map. 0 Add / Remove Points: This tool allows you to add or remove points from existing shapes. Select an existing point to remove it or click anywhere on a line / edge to add a new node. Click and drag a point to amend its position. Select Tool: Move, resize or find shape properties using the Select Tool. Merge Tool: Combine two adjoining polygons using the Merge Tool. With the tool active, click the first polygon followed by an adjoining polygon to merge them together. 3 Delete Selected Polgyon: Delete your selected drawing. 4 Lock / Unlock Shape: Lock or Unlock your shape so that it cannot be edited. 5 Shape Properties Box: Alter the appearance of your created object. 10 Custom Shapes Tool SECTION5 The Custom Shapes Tool provides you with a number of predefined shapes ready to drop onto your map, and is similar to the Symbols tool in the previous version of Promap. The Custom Shapes Tool also allows you to save your own drawings for use on other maps. Adding an existing shape to the map Select the Custom Shapes Tool from the Draw & Measure tab. You will now see the active Promap Shapes library which contains a number of example site plots and several symbols. Scroll down to find the required symbol. Click this to add it to your map. Creating a new drawing Library Select the Custom Shapes Tool from the Draw & Measure tab. Select the New button in the Drawing Library area and name your new library as you wish, then click Create. Your new Drawing Library will appear in the right-hand window. You can have multiple Drawing Libraries open at the same time and can switch between these in the drop-down menu within the Drawing Library area. To add a shape to a Drawing Library, right click on a shape and select Add to Drawing Library. You can now name your shape and add a description, which will be displayed in the list within the Drawing Library in the right-hand window. Notes Promap V User Guide 08

11 Ordering Reports SECTION 6 Select Reports from the Task tabs. Select the Drawing & Measuring Tools tab in the right-hand menu and use the drawing tools to outline your site boundary. Use the Report Order Menu to check the site address, select the report that you require and Add to basket. Now you ve added your product to the basket. Head to the basket using the icon in the top right-hand corner. Add a Project Reference and Purchase Order Reference and hit Submit Order to complete. 12 Exporting Data SECTION7 Select Export Tab from the left-hand side of the screen. Select the Drawing Tools tab in the right-hand menu and use the drawing tools to outline your site boundary. Now you ve added your product to the basket. Head to the basket using the icon in the top right-hand corner. Add a Project Reference and Purchase Order Reference and hit Submit Order to complete. 13 Views SECTION8 Views are required to access OS MasterMap as a viewable layer. Each View is equivalent to km of MasterMap. You will receive 5 complimentary Master Map views on first login. You are able to purchase views from the Buy Views section in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Buy Views Promap V User Guide

14 Additional views can be purchased individually or in bundles for a more cost-effective price. If you want to save views while navigating Promap V, we recommend you switch to the Open Map layer. Notes Promap V User Guide

15 Order History SECTION9 The Promap V Order History provides information regarding all your previous orders and the ability to revisit or redownload any of your in-licence orders. The Search bar can be used to filter orders by Project Reference and PO Number. Other filter options include Order type, Order Date and Licence Status. When an order is selected, a thumbnail will appear with the Order Details in the top right. Search Order Details 3 Download Options 3 Promap V User Guide 3

16 Beneath the Order Details, you have the options to redownload previous orders. Depending on the type of order different options will be available. Please see an overview below: Action Description Print Re-Print The Re-Print enables you to re-download your print order for a small charge. If you have a Paper Map Copying Licence, this can be done for no cost. Edit Print The Edit Print function enables you to make amends on your original map. The background mapping will not be updated. You also cannot change the print frame area. Export Download file Use this button to download your order. Other download options This function allows you to download your original order in a number of different formats. Reports Download file Use this button to download your order. View your data now Use this button to redirect to an online viewer that enables you to interact your data. Notes Promap V User Guide 4

17 Saving Maps SECTION0 A map can be saved at any time in Promap v, simply click the Save map icon in the header bar. Promap will also prompt you to save a map when: Locating to a new address Logging out Purchasing an order Open Map Save Map Promap V User Guide 5

18 When the Save button is clicked, the Saved Maps window will appear. This includes all the available folders on the left-hand side, along with details for the saved maps on the right-hand side. Find the correct location for the map, add a name and reference and click Save. When creating a new folder, this will be created within the parent folder that you have selected. It will be highlighted in orange within the folder tree where you can also name the folder. Saving an Order Promap will prompt you to save any orders you purchase. It s important to do this to enable you to quickly and easily download the original orders, make amends or updates to new mapping. If you have orders from multiple different locations in your basket, then Promap v will prompt you to save these separately. Notes Promap V User Guide 6

19 Opening Maps SECTION A map can be opened at any time, simply click the Open map icon in the header bar. The Open Map window will appear, use the maps folder tree to locate your required map. Select it and click Open. The Open Map window includes a search functionality from which you can search by file name or reference. Maps can be deleted in the Open Map window, simply select a map and click Delete. Any deleted maps can be recovered by an Admin user. Deleted maps can be found in the Archive folder of a Admin user s map folder tree. To recover a map, select it from the Archive folder and click Restore. Your 0 most recently opened maps will appear on the left-hand side of the Open Maps window. Notes Promap V User Guide 7
