1 Step 1: Start a GUI Project Start->New Project->Visual C# ->Windows Forms Application Name: Wack-A-Gopher Step 2: Add Content Download the Content folder (content.zip) from Canvas and unzip in a location that you can get to or remember. Open the Solution Explorer (View, Solution Explorer or View, Other Windows, Solution Explorer) Right-click the Project Name, Wack-A- Gopher, Choose Properties at the bottom of the List, choose Resources on the left panel. Click the Add Resource drop-down list. Choose Add Existing File Browse to the unzipped content folder and choose all the files, click OPEN. 1

2 Click the tab to the left of Add Resource to see the Images and Audio files. Step 3: Setup the GUI Form (title bar, properties, background) View, Properties Window. Make the following changes to the form properties: Text: Wack a Gopher in 30 seconds! Icon: Browse to Select one of the icons provided in the content folder. Background Image: Browse, then choose Project resource file to select either the golf course or grass. Background Image Layout: Stretch 2

3 Step 4: Add Objects to the Form (Button, Textbox) 3

4 BUTTON Open the Toolbox (View, Toolbox). Drag a Button to the form and format as follows: Name: btngopher Background Image: Browse, then choose Project resource file to select the gopher. Background Image Layout: Stretch Text: delete the text in the text property TEXTBOX Open the Toolbox (View, Toolbox). Drag a Textbox to the form. Move to the top left corner of the form. Click the arrow in the upper right corner of the textbox and check MultiLine. Format as follows: Name: txtscore Background Color: Lime Foreground Color: Yellow Font: Change to a Larger Size (24 pt) Text: 0 TextAlign: Center 4

6 Step 6: Add Timer1 and Timer2 TIMER1 & TIMER2 Open the Toolbox (View, Toolbox). Right-click the project name Whack-A- Gopher from the Solution Explorer Window and choose the last option properties. In the Application tab on the left, choose Icon and manifest and browse to select an icon of your choice from the content folder. 2. Choose Build Solution from the Build menu item (or, rightclick the project name and build). 8

9 3. Now choose Publish from the Build menu item (or, right-click the project name and publish). Use the default screens (wizard) to publish the solution, choose Next, Next, Next, Finish. 4. Find the.exe file from the Project Folder: WhackAGopher->WhackAGopher->bin->Debug Double-click the.exe file to run the game program. You can give your game to anyone by just giving them the WhackAGopher.exe file. Hint: If you can t see the.exe file extension, then from Windows Explorer choose the menu item View, then check the File name extensions option. 9
