3 Overview PasTools - Client Utilities provide integration and analysis tools that fit seamlessly into your existing well lifecycle model. Users can import PAS files directly into the well life cycle database. The original PAS file can be attached directly to the target well and links to relevant well components are created. PasImporter - Running the PAS File Loader PasImporter presents a wizard-based interface that guides the user through the process of importing a PAS-format test file and optionally attaching the file to the target well and adding links to relevant well components. Step 1 Launch the Add-in Select one or more wells and then run the PasTools menu. PAS File Loader application from the Add-Ins

4 Step 2 File Selection Use the Browse button to locate the PAS test file to be imported. If the file is not a valid type or version, an error message will be displayed.

5 Certain tests can contain large volumes of data and may take several minutes to import. If the file is very large, the importer will display a warning to prevent you from accidentally starting a long running test import. To continue, select Yes. Step 3 Attach the PAS File In addition to importing the contents of the PAS test file, the importer can optionally save a copy of the original test file to the attachments folder located under the well. To attach the test to the well, select Yes. To import the test contents without attaching a copy of the test, select No.

6 Step 4 Link Test to a Well From the well drop down list, select the well under which the imported test file will be stored. In addition to the well, the test may be linked to relevant well components such as a zone and/or wellbore (depending on the type of test). Changing the selected well automatically updates the lists of wellbores and zones that can be linked to the test. If you do not wish to link the test to a wellbore or pool, or you are unsure of the correct pool or wellbore, check the Don t link this import to a checkbox to skip this step. The link to a wellbore or zone can be created or changed after the import has completed.

7 Step 5 Review and Confirm Options The final task is to review the import options you have defined. To execute the import, select Import. To change any options use the Back button to return to a previous step and update the relevant options. Import Execution As the PAS test file is imported, the progress bar and message will be updated to indicate the current status.

8 Once the import completes, the status display will indicate a successful import or display any errors. You may import another test file by selecting New Import or exit the application by selecting Finish. If you choose to perform additional imports they will use the same default option values as the previous import.

9 PasViewer - Running the Interactive PAS File Analyzer PasViewer allows you to visually explore your test data in a familiar tabular format as well as through rich interactive graphs. PasViewer can be run in two different modes: 1. As an Add-in, launched from the Well Explorer window 2. As a stand alone application, by double-clicking PasViewer.exe To launch PasViewer as an Add-in, follow the same steps as the PasImporter: Select one or more wells and then run the PasTools PasViewer application from the Add-Ins menu. When running as an Add-in, PasViewer can open tests that are attached to any of the selected wells or any.pas files you have previously saved to disk. Open a Test Attached to a Well 1. Select the well from the well drop down menu 2. Select the test from the test drop down menu The test will be loaded from the database and displayed.

10 Open a.pas Test File 1. Select the Open File menu option 2. Browse to the desired.pas test file and select Open The selected test file will be loaded and displayed.

11 Using PasViewer to Analyze Test Data PasViewer displays data in two different formats: (i) Tabular Data and (ii) Interactive Graphs. You can switch between these two views by selecting the tabs located at the top of the screen: The Tabular Data View The Tabular Data View displays test data in a familiar table format, allowing easy review of key elements of the test. As well as review the test, data can be: 1. Exported to Microsoft Excel select the section you would like to export then click the Excel toolbar button. A new spreadsheet will be created with your selected data. NOTE: this option requires that Microsoft Excel is installed on your computer. 2. Copied to Clipboard select the data you would like to copy and click the Clipboard toolbar button. The selected data can now be copied into any application, such as Microsoft Word or an .

12 TIP: You can select an entire data table using this shortcut key combination: ctrl + a The Interactive Graph View The Interactive Graph View displays rich graphs that invite deep analysis and what-if scenarios. NOTE: graphing is not available for all test types and versions. Certain test types (such as fluid analysis) do not have any graph-able data. Currently only v4.0 PAS test files support graphing; if you require specific graphs or graphing for older PAS file versions, please contact support: Drawing a Graph To create a graph, select the desired graph template in the graph tree. Under each graph is one or more test elements, each represents a curve or series on the graph. You can graph any combination of curves for a specific graph. Click the Refresh button to draw your graph.

13 Exploring a Graph PasViewer invites deep exploration of graph data by supporting several interactions: Zoom in on a specific section of the graph by clicking and holding the left mouse button, then drawing a box around the target zoom area Zoom in and out of the graph using the wheel on your mouse Click and hold the wheel on your mouse, then move the mouse to drag the graph, changing the visible area. Click the Show Point Values toolbar button to display a tooltip with the actual underlying data value as you move the mouse overtop of the graph

14 Other Graph Functions In addition to exploring the graph data, you can also: Save a graph as an image file in several common file formats Print a graph Copy a graph to the clipboard and then paste the graph image into any application, such as a report or Display the actual data points of the underlying graph data can by clicking the Show Point Markers toolbar button

15 Installing PasTools Client Utilities All files required to install PasTools Client Utilities (with the exception of the Microsoft.NET framework version 2.x or greater) are included in a single folder. Copy the PasTools directory to the Add-Ins folder. The UDL must be updated to allow the applications to be launched from the Add-Ins menu. PasImporter and PasViewer can also be run directly from the file system by executing either WvPasImportAddin.exe to run the PAS file importer or PasViewer.exe to run the PAS file viewer application. Licensing PasTools Client Utilities All PasTools Client Utilities require a runtime license key. To save or update the key, open the configuration file using a text editor. For PasImporter the configuration file is WvPasImportAddin.exe.config For PasViewer the configuration file is PasViewer.exe.config Locate the license key setting:

17 PasTools Client Utilities Specifications The PasTools Client Utilities support all test types defined by the Energy Resources Conservation Board (ERCB) for the PAS v4.0 system. The complete specification may be viewed on the ERCB website: PasTools Client Utilities has been tested on the Windows XP Professional operating system. Other operating systems may work but are not officially supported. System requirements vary depending on a number of factors such as the size of the test file being viewed or imported, but the recommended minimum system includes a P4 2.8 Ghz CPU, 1.00 GB RAM and sufficient disk space to save the target test file. The Microsoft.NET framework version 2.0 or greater is required to run PasTools Client Utilities. PasImporter supports SQL Server 2005 and above, Oracle 10.x and above and Access 97 and above. PasViewer supports PAS v4.0 and v2.1 file formats as well as data stored in the PasTools100 database schema. Enhanced visualization is supported for PAS v4.0 file formats, including extended meta data and interactive graphing. PasTools Support Please visit for any support requests.
