1 Page 1 TruEmbroideryTM Fundamentals: All Applications From TruEmbroidery Software Certification Lesson 7: Fundamentals Closing Program Windows Versus Closing Applications When you exit TruEmbroideryTM (~ Q or select the Application name and then Quit in the drop-down menu) without closing all the program windows, TruEmbroideryTMautosaves open windows if you have saved the design files, and loads them for you next time you start the Application. The following steps w ill help yo u understand how closing Applications is d ifferent than closing windows in TruETM Studio. Til e steps will be the sa me for closing Tru CM Modify a nd TruE TrVl Create Applic ations also. This exercise a ssumes you have created multiple open windows and saved them in one or more TruEmbroideryTM Applications, and the Applications and multiple windows are currently open, System Preferences 1. Select System Preferences ~o::::.i ln Launchpad -,or from the Dock. Select General. Place a check by Ask to keep changes when closing documents. 2 Page 2 Adding Application Icons to the Dock 1. Select Launchpad. ' Find an icon you w ish to add to the Dock. Click and drag the icon down to the dock and release the Icon. 2. Repeat for all icons you wish to add to the Dock. 3. To move to another Application, click its icon in the Dock or in Launchpad 4. To Remove an Application icon from the Dock, right click or Control click to open a Show Recents pop-up menu, and select Options, and O~ then Remove from Dock. OPtiO~... To check and see how many pages are open in the current Application, click Window in the TruE Studio Menu bar, and the open windows will appear as a list at the bottom of the drop-down menu. 3 You can also select 'Tru E Studio' (or any other Application na me) in the Menu bar, and select 'Quit TruE Studio', The shortcut key sy m bols are also show n in the drop-down menu, Note: You must save the design in each window Page 3 File About TruE Studio Edit Preferences... ~. Services ~ Hide TruE Studio ~H Hide Others \: ~H Show All Quit TruE Studio ~Q or it will not be autosaved and reopened automatically. If a work in progress has not first been saved before closing the Application by quitting, when you next launch the Application, the window may reopen but be empty because it couldn't autosave. 4 Page 4 Menu bar. There should be no windows named in the ope n window list. 8. Although you have closed all the open windows, the TruE'MStudio Application is still open. g. If it remains as the active Application, the TruETMStudio Menu bar will be visible at the top of the display, but you will not see a TruE"oA Studio work area. The area displayed under the Menu bar may instead be the Desktop or another open Application. 10. If you have selected a different Application to make it active, the Menu bar for TruETM Studio will be hidden from view and the Menu for the active Application will appear at the top of your display. 11. To verify whether an Application is open, look at the Application icon in the Dock. If a small 'light' appears under an Application icon, then the Application is open. 12. To make the open but not active (visible) TruE TloA Studio Application active again, just click the icon ~ in the Dock. The Menu bar, along with a new program window, will again be the active Application in your display. 13.
