The boot up process takes about 5-6 minutes 2. Switch the bulkhead monitor to the Media Center Device (MCD) video output. 3. When loading applicable LCP, LSP, or Custom Map Content, insert the media into USB port of MCD. Loading will be initiated from the PSW for LCP and LSP loads. NOTE: After any software installation, a power cycle immediately after the load may corrupt the NAND file system. This will result in a recovery routine to run and extend the boot time. It is recommended to wait for a minimum of 5 minutes after loading software before power cycling the system. Software loading should not be started for at least 5 minutes after a system or LRU power cycle or LRU reset. The screen shots showed in this document are only samples. (b) CAUTION: WHEN LOADING WITH A USB STICK, DO NOT LEAVE THE USB STICK IN THE LRU UNATTENDED. THE USB STICK PROTRUDES FROM THE LRU AND IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING BENT OR BROKEN BY PEOPLE PASSING BY OR BY CABINET DOORS WHEN UNITS ARE MOUNTED IN A CABINET. To install tail specific LCPs or LSPs, perform the following procedure: 1 Insert the Removable Media that contains the applicable specific LSP/LCP files to be loaded into USB portofmcd. The folder image will appear on the cabin monitor when the USB drive has been recognized. At this point, you can enter Software Load and see the files. NOTE: It is recommended that any MCD Blu Ray disc be removed prior to the loading process. The system will detect and display the USB drive found with a Venue folder. 2-May 01/13 Page 10

Repeat load procedure to load LSP after initially loading the LCP. NOTE: When loading the LCP initially, it is expected that conformity will fail; it is still required to load the LSP. 17 Perform a complete power down of the Venue system after both LCP and LSP are loaded to verify the system is functional. NOTE: Step 17 must be completed at the end of the procedure before placing system back in service. 2-May 01/13 Page 29
36 (c) NOTE: After any software installation, a power cycle immediately after the load may corrupt the NAND file system. This will result in a recovery routine to run and extend the boot time. It is recommended to wait for a minimum of 5 minutes after loading software before power cycling the system. Software loading should not be started for at least 5 minutes after a system or LRU power cycle or LRU reset. The screen shots shown in this document are only samples. To install tail specific V2 Custom Map Content perform the following procedure: 1. From a PSW with a Master or VIP role, select a cabin or seat monitor to display the Airshow Moving Maps. This allows the user to view the MCD load status during the loading process. CAUTION: WHEN LOADING WITH A USB STICK, DO NOT LEAVE THE USB STICK IN THE LRU UNATTENDED. THE USB STICK PROTRUDES FROM THE LRU AND IS SUSCEPTIBLE TO BEING BENT OR BROKEN BY PEOPLE PASSING BY OR BY CABINET DOORS WHEN UNITS ARE MOUNTED IN A CABINET. 2. Insert the USB key containing the MCD Custom Map Content into the MCD USB Port. The MCD detects the USB key within a few seconds. a. If the key contains valid installation data, the MCD displays an installation status screen on the selected monitor. b. The status screen displays the part numbers of the software components that will be installed and a 30-second countdown timer. c. The MCD waits for the countdown to complete before starting the data transfer to allow the user time to cancel the installation. d. If the USB installation key is removed within the 30-second period, the installation is cancelled and the existing Map software will automatically restart. e. If the 30-second countdown period completes and the USB installation key is still inserted in the MCD USB port, the MCD starts to copy the files from the USB key to the MCD. A status screen displays a progress bar indicating the status of the copying process. f. The copying process is completed when the progress bar is filled to 100%. A status screen indicates that the installation files have been copied successfully, and requests the USB key be removed. 3. Remove the USB installation key from the MCD. a. The MCD begins installing the copied files. When the progress bar is filled to 100%, a status screen reports that the installation was successful. 2-May 01/13 Page 30
37 b. The installation is followed by a cleanup process. When the progress bar is filled to 100%, the installation is complete. c. The overall status of the software load is displayed. The screen displays the part numbers of the software that was loaded. d. After the installation is complete, the MCD reboots itself twice. During this time, there will be two periods where the screen will go blank for up to 45 seconds before the boot screen appears. The MCD will restart with the new configuration. NOTE: This part of the process will take approximately 5 minutes to complete. 4. Verify the correct software part numbers and following files were successfully loaded as follows: a. Airshow for MCD Support Filea b. Timezone Database c. Jeppesen Database d. ACE MCD Configuration Update Software Installation Verification (Reference Only) Figure 20 2-May 01/13 Page 31
