1 Instructions for Downloading Databases from the Rockwell Collins FMS and Database Services Website Select a Database Loading method below for specific instructions. More than 1 method may apply. 2 CPAS-3000 Data Loader (Computer with Ethernet Cable) Rockwell Collins FMS and Database Services web site ( 1. Login with FMS Database Service user name and password. (Not the same as Rockwell Collins customer portal) 2

3 2. The database(s) eligible to download will be displayed. Databases used with the CPAS-3000 Data Loader will have a USB extension on the name. Select the database you want to download. 3. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download followed shortly by the File Download- Security Warning window. Click the Run button. 3

4 4. The file will begin downloading. 5. Press the Run button when the file is finished downloading,. 6. Next press the OK button 4

5 7. Ensure the USB memory stick is in the computer. Choose correct drive letter and directory location on your USB memory stick. The USB memory stick may be set up with folders as indicated below to organize different databases. Click here (page 30) for recommendations to manage your USB memory stick folders. View Operator Bulletin # for USB Media recommendations. 8. Press Unzip to send the navigation database files to the USB stick. 5

6 9. The data will start unzipping. 10. Press OK 11. Press Close to end the unzipping process. 12. Remove the USB memory stick from the Internet download computer. Note: Steps 1-12 may be performed on any computer. Steps must be performed on the aircraft loading computer with CPAS-3000 installed. 13. Insert the USB stick in the CPAS-3000 computer. 14. Press the Launch Pad icon located on the desktop. CPAS-3000 LaunchPad.lnk 6

7 15. Press Manage Data/Software button. 16. Press the Import button. 17. Press the down triangle and select the USB drive letter (usually E : on a laptop). 7

8 18. Select the drive for the database to be imported and press OK. 19. Select the database and press OK 20. Press Close when the import is done. 8

9 The data imported to CPAS-3000 will be displayed now. When all desired databases are listed on this page, you may proceed to the aircraft for uploading. Refer to the CPAS-3000 Data Loader operator s guide and the appropriate aircraft flight manuals for uploading instructions. End- Return to top 9

11 2. The database(s) eligible to download will be displayed. Databases used with the PCD-3000 Data Loader will have a USB extension on the name. Select the database you want to download. ` 3. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download followed shortly by the File Download- Security Warning window. Click the Run button. 11

12 4. The file will begin downloading. 5. When the file is finished downloading, press the Run button. 6. Next press the OK button 12

13 7. Ensure the USB memory stick is in the computer. Choose the drive letter corresponding to the USB memory stick. The data will need to be unzipped to the root directory of the USB memory stick. NOTE: The USB memory may only hold one database at a time. Other databases should be removed at this time. 8. Press Unzip to send the navigation database files to the USB stick. 13

14 9. The data will start unzipping. 10. Press OK 11. Press Close to end the unzipping process. 12. Insert the USB stick in the PCD computer. Note: Steps 1-12 may be performed on any computer. Steps must be performed on the aircraft loading computer with PCD-3000 installed. 13. Press the PCD-3000 icon located on the desktop. Pcd-3000.lnk 14

15 14. Press Copy Database to Hard Drive button 15. Select the USB memory stick and press OK. Note: The number of databases that may be copied to the laptop is limited. When the maximum number of a particular type of databases exist on the laptop, one of those databases must be removed before a new one can be copied to the laptop. 16. When the database is finished coping press OK 15

16 17. The data imported to PCD-3000 will be displayed now. 18. Erase the USB memory stick in preparation for importing the next database When all desired databases are listed on this page, you may proceed to the aircraft for uploading. Refer to the PCD-3000 Data Loader operator s guide and the appropriate aircraft flight manuals for uploading instructions. End- Return to top 16

17 DBU-5000 Data Loader (USB Memory Stick) Rockwell Collins FMS and Database Services web site ( 1. Login with your FMS Database Service user name and password. (Not the same as Rockwell Collins customer portal) 17

18 2. The database(s) eligible to download will be displayed. Databases used with the DBU-5000 Data Loader will have a USB extension on the name. Select the database you want to download. ` 3. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download followed shortly by the File Download- Security Warning window. Click the Run button. 18

19 4. The file will begin downloading. 5. When the file is finished downloading, press the Run button. 6. Select OK after reading the database information in the following window. 7. Ensure the USB memory stick is in the computer. 19

20 Choose between Non-Enhanced DBU-5000 or Enhanced DBU-5000 steps. Non-Enhanced DBU-5000: (used on Pro-Line 4, or Pro-Line 21 without IFIS aircraft) Select the letter that corresponds to your USB removable disk drive. If it is not E:\ change as appropriate (i.e. F:\) and select Unzip. The database files must be unzipped to the root directory of the USB memory stick and only one database can be loaded at a time. 21 Enhanced DBU-5000: (used on Pro-Line 21 with IFIS aircraft) Ensure the USB memory stick is in the computer. Choose correct drive letter and directory location on your USB memory stick. The USB memory stick may be set up with folders as indicated below to organize different databases Click here (page 30) for recommendations to manage your USB memory stick folders. 22 Database files are now on the USB memory stick, select OK. Press Close to end the unzipping process. 22

23 The database(s) is now ready to be loaded into the aircraft via the USB memory stick and the DBU-5000 Data Loader. Refer to the DBU-5000 Data Loader operator s guide and the appropriate aircraft flight manuals for uploading instructions. End- Return to top 23

24 DBU-4000/4100 Data Loader (3.5 inch Floppy Diskettes) Rockwell Collins FMS and Database Services web site ( 1. Login with your FMS Database Service user name and password. (Not the same as Rockwell Collins customer portal) 24

25 2. The database(s) you are eligible to download will be displayed. (Databases that end with -USB will not allow you to create floppy discs.) 3. A dialog window will appear while the file is being prepared for download followed shortly by the File Download- Security Warning window. Click the Save button. 25

26 4. From the Save in: drop down menu, select a location to download the database to and click Save. If you select Desktop (recommended), you will create an icon on your desktop. 5. The file will begin downloading. 6. When the file is finished downloading, press the Open Folder button. 26

27 7. The database will appear on your Desktop or other location from step 5, with an icon similar to the one below. J6_world.exe 8. Execute the file by double clicking the icon J6_world.exe. Select Run if prompted. 9. Select OK after reading the database information in the following window. 10. The WinZip Self-Extractor will be displayed. Selecting Unzip will unzip the files to a temporary directory and begin the diskette creation process. 27

28 11. WinZip will confirm the files were extracted. Select OK to start the Imaging program that will create the diskettes. 12. A WinImage Self Extractor window will display the Navigation Database, Effective Dates, and the number of diskettes required. Select OK. 13. You will be prompted to insert the first diskette. Insert a diskette into the drive and select OK. 14. The program will format, write and verify the content of each disk. When prompted for subsequent diskettes, insert diskette into the drive and select OK. 28

29 When the last diskette is made, the labels for the diskettes will be displayed in Microsoft Word format. These may be applied to the set of diskettes just created. The labels are set up to print on Avery label number The database is now ready to be loaded into the aircraft via the diskettes and the DBU-4000/4100 Data Loader. Refer to the DBU-4000/4100 Data Loader operator s guide and the appropriate aircraft flight manuals for uploading instructions. End- Return to top 29

30 USB Memory Stick Management for Enhanced DBU-5000 and CPAS The Enhanced DBU-5000 and CPAS-3000 are capable of reading databases located in folders on the USB memory stick. This allows you to have all your databases on 1 stick at the same time. We recommend you set up the following directories on your USB memory stick. These are only recommendations to help organize the databases and may be altered as necessary. 2. Begin with a blank, 1 GB (min.), USB memory stick that does not contain any pre-installed Windows based programs, such as the U3 Launch Pad. Insert into USB drive of computer. View Operator Bulletin # for USB Media recommendations. 3. Open My Computer and select the USB Removable Disk drive. In this example it is (E:). 30

31 4. Now create new folders by selecting File, New and Folder. 31

32 5. Rename the folder as appropriate. 32
