1 DEMONSTRATING THE CARVEWRIGHT 3D CARVING SYSTEM The CarveWright 3D Carving System can do amazing things, but many customers want to see it in ac<on before making a purchase. This guide will assist you in providing the customer with a basic demonstra<on of the CarveWright System. There are two kinds of demonstra<ons that are typical for our usual sales environments. A short demo and a long demo. This guide will outline the short demo, as it is the most prac<cal and effec<ve way for anyone to begin demonstra<ng the CarveWright to others. The long demo requires a much more thorough understanding of the CarveWright for a detailed explana<on of the System. To learn more about using CarveWright, in order to give more thorough demonstra<ons, it is best to review our Learning Guide in it s en<rety. hgp://support.carvewright.com/learning_guide/ THE CARVEWRIGHT DEMO UNIT The Demo Unit is our most current model CarveWright System. It is the same unit the customers will be buying. These units will come pre- registered for each store with all somware features. The unit will come with LOGIN informa<on to ac<vate this account. Included with the demo unit: 1.CarveWright CNC System 2.Account Login Informa<on 3.Quick Start Guides 4.CarveWright SoMware CD 5. Instruc<onal DVD 6.CarveWright Memory Card w/ pre- loaded project 7.CarveWright Memory Card Programmer 8.4mm T- Handle Allen Wrench 9.Crank Handle Ball and Shoulder Bolt 10.A 1/16 Carving Bit 11.Dust Collec<on Hood (may be shipped separately) SETTING UP THE CARVEWRIGHT DEMO UNIT Locate the appropriate cart or designated display area for the CarveWright demo unit and remove from the box. Follow the provided QUICK START GUIDE for segng up the machine. INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE AND ACTIVATING THE ACCOUNT Follow the instruc<ons in SoLware Quick Start Guide to install the somware. During the registra<on sec<on, you will need the LOGIN informa<on provided with the demo unit. Select I ALREADY HAVE A CUSTOMER ACCOUNT at the account setup screen and use the provided login informa<on to ac<vate the account. The account is now be ac<vated and ready to use.

2 DESIGNING A DEMO PROJECT Demo projects are best kept minimal to and reduce the poten@al for overloading the customer. When the product can do so much, it s best to give the customer a good overview of capabili@es, rather than overwhelm them with every possible detail. The following project is an easy way to cover the basics of the CarveWright System. DEMO PROJECT 1 INSTRUCTIONS: STARTING THE SOFTWARE The Welcome screen appears with project op@ons. Select New Project Set your board piece dimensions. Length: 12 Width: 5.5 Thickness:.75 Click ok

3 MANIPULATING THE WORKPIECE Board piece will display on screen in three dimensions. Zoom Rotate Pan Front Rear PATTERN PLACEMENT Select the payern tool to open the payern library along the right side. Select Shell 02 under Shells in the Basic Library. Click on board to place. PATTERN MANIPULATION Use Red Nodes on the corner to Scale the Shell larger.

4 CENTERING Right- Click on Shell to bring up menu of available Select Center Center Both MIRRORING Select Filagree 00 under Filagrees in the Basic library. Place on board next to the shell. Right- Click and select Mirror, Mirror Horizontally.

5 the payern is reflected across the board. If you move one; the other follows exactly. Scale the payern up and around the base of the shell. Select the shell payern and look at it s depth se`ng. It is set at.180. Change it s depth to.25

6 DRAWING TOOLS Select the Rectangle Tool. Draw Rectangle across the board, leaving a border as shown. REGIONS Select Carve Region. This applies a carved area to the rectangle with a default depth of.25. TEXTURE Click on Select Texture. Texture dialog box appears displaying a variety of available textures. Select Bumps and leave the interval at 1.

7 Texture appears in the rectangular region, but is overtaking parts of the design. FINE TUNING ADJUSTING HEIGHT Correct this by the Height to 20. This sets the texture back enough to be more subtle. FEATHERING With the rectangular region selected, click on the Feather Tool. From the drop down menu, select Feathering 1/4 inch.

8 Rotate design to view it from different angles. This project is ready for Carving. You may add text if you choose, and it will be covered next, but many will upload the demo project without text to keep it less personal for display or giveaway purposes. Skip to Uploading the Project if this is the case. TEXT TOOL Next, select the Text Tool and click on board. Text dialog box will appear. Select from any of the true type fonts that you have on your computer. Manipulate the size and placement of the TEXT, just as we did with the other payerns. CENTERING Right- Click on TEXT to bring up menu of available Select Center Center Horizontally

9 DRAFT Select the TEXT and select the Drah Tool Choose Drah Medium. This puts a bevel on the edge of the leyers to reduce chip- out. The TEXT doesn t blend well with the shell payern. Select the shell and reduce it s height to 75. The Design is finished. TIP: If you want to reduce the amount the carving will take, you can simply reduce the rectangle size.

Example: Shell_N_14 (Recognizable name_quality se:ng_es;mated ;me to carve) OTHER DEMO PROJECTS There are many that can be made on this design just by choosing different payerns and textures. The main point of the project is to show the ease- of- use of the sohware to make something. Below are some pictures of other of this same design with different payerns and textures.

12 CARVING A DEMO PROJECT Listed below are the steps involved to run the basic machine demonstra<on for poten<al customers. The only materials you will need to run a demo are the Memory Card with a loaded project, the 1/16 Carving Bit, and a 1x6 piece of wood for the Demo Board. DEMO BOARD 1. Board PreparaVon: This piece of wood needs to be flat on both sides and has to be planed and squared. See BOARD PREPARATION secvon in Chapter 1 of the Learning Guide. 2. Dimension of demo board: This project we designed for our demo was 12 x 5.5 x.75, so it will run on a standard 1x6. Cut the length to a minimum of 19 inches. The extra length is to account for the 3.5 margin on the ends of the board needed to Stay Under the Rollers. See 7 INCH RULE in the BOARD PREPARATION secvon in Chapter 1 of the Learning Guide. Demo Board Dimensions: 19 x 5.5 x.75 (19 inch long 1x6) RUNNING THE PROJECT This is a quick reference guide to running a project. See the CARVING A PROJECT sec<on later in this guide for a more full descrip<on of this process. 1. Insert your Memory Card into the CarveWright machine. This slot is located near the bogom of the machine on the same side as the LCD display. NEVER POWER THE MACHINE ON OR OFF WITHOUT THE MEMORY CARD INSERTED. 2. With the memory card inserted, power the machine on with the power switch. 3. The LCD screen on the Keypad will display the CarveWright Main Menu. Listed first is an op<on <tled 1) Project Menu. Before choosing your project, load the demo project board into the machine. 4. Place your board in the machine. There is a squaring plate on the side of the machine near the LCD display. When you put in your piece of wood make sure the wood is signg firmly against this plate. While you are squaring up your piece of wood make sure your wood is signg on top of the brass wheel. This brass roller wheel is the tracking sensor used for measuring the piece of wood. 5. Once the piece of wood is snug against the squaring plate and seated correctly on the brass roller, slide the other squaring plate against the piece of wood. 6. Turn the handle toward the Down direc<on marked on the top to lower the head onto the board. You will hear the clutch click once engaged. Two or three clicks will be sufficient to secure the board.

13 7. Back on the Keypad. Press Enter or the number 1 to select the Project Menu. Select your project using the Up and Down arrows located on the keypad. Once you have found the project you wish to carve press the Enter bugon. 8. The machine will home itself and then ask if you wish to Stay Under Rollers?. Press the number 2 for NO. 9. The machine then proceed to measure the board. First the width and then the length. Once the width measurements are finished it should give the op<on Keep Original Size?. Press ENTER, or number 1, on the keypad to say YES. NOTE: If the board you put in the machine measures less than the project you selected, it will give you the opvon to scale the project. It is usually best to avoid scaling situavons by using the correct size board, but if it is only slightly off, then proceed with scaling to fit the board. 11. The next ques<on the machine will ask is, How To Place On Board?. Select number 1 on the keypad Center On Board. 12. You will be asked if you would like to Cut Board To Size?. Press number 2 on the keypad to select NO. 13. The LCD will now tell you to Select Bit: 1/16 Carving Bit, press Enter. The machine will now center the spindle and ask you to Load Bit: 1/16 Carving Bit. Load the bit and press the Enter bugon. 14. The machine will now located and zero the bit. It will move to the far side of the machine and touch the bit off of the bit plate, then it will come back the board and touch off of it s surface. Once it has finished the zeroing, it will begin carving. NOTE: Watch during this process to be sure the bit is touching the bit plate. If it is not touching it is most likely dirty and can easily be fixed. Search bit plate in our troubleshoovng documentavon at hep://support.carvewright.com for details on how to fix it. 15. Once the carving is finished use the handle to raise the head and remove your carving. Then it is advised to sand it using a CarveWright Sanding Mop agached to a drill press.
