Based on the highly regarded CENTAURI product family, it is a powerful codec and digital mixer inside one box. is a professional tool for current news contributions and editorial communication. supports twin/dual codec mode as well as point-to-multipoint transmissions the dream of every reporter reaching up to 8 destinations simultaneously via or reaching a virtually unlimited number of recipients with Audio-via-IP multicast. Alternatively, the signals from up to four microphones can be transmitted simultaneously for extended interview groups, or a combination of original stadium sound plus four interview partners in stereo, with all mixing parameters under control. And individually controllable send/receive levels for headphone monitoring allows just the right mix for each interview partner. For matching the special technical requirements of large scale events e.g. sports, etc. can be pre-programmed for audio routing of all in- and outputs using a special software tool. This data can be stored and then simply called up for use by the operators and reporters. 3 Interface Ergonomic studies have resulted in the controls and LCD display being presented in an extremely user friendly manner. The eight key potentiometers are electronically controlled and are either level, pan or gain. Management: Manual or via Network In addition to manually controlling and adjusting the directly via its keyboard and pots, can be remotely controlled by any standard Internet Browser, regardless of Platform whether PC, Mac, or any other as well as by its comprehensive Windows Remote Software. 4 Technology FlashCast With the built-in Flashcast technology, connectivity is as easy as pushing a button. Directories of complete set-ups and phone book entries are easily accessed. Flashcast detects a remote codec algorithm by sending test patterns and/or analyzing the bit stream. Flashcast recognizes more than 90% of all encoded audio signals and can synchronize the connection with no operator needing to be involved. 6 High Profile Projects proven reliability, flexibility and ease-of-use 1 Case Study 1: RTL Radio FIFA World Cup 2006 Radio RTL Network chose MAYAH MERK II Portable Audio Gateway Codec/Mixers as their main tool for commentating and reporting at all games of the Soccer World Cup this year. Hundreds of private radio stations in Germany and many other countries received their signals from the main control room of RTL Radio Network s headquarters in Berlin. Up to 5 units were used at the most significant games for live commentaries and short overviews for program inserts, which were then transmitted to Berlin over lines, encoded with MPEG-4 AAC at 128 Kbit/s to provide the highest sound quality. At RTL headquarters the signal was mixed with the original stadium atmosphere sound and re-distributed via RTL Radio s own network, linked to its DAB facility and fed to customers all over the world. Among the broadcasters, which provided their listeners with World Cup reports in German were such distant stations as SBS Radio in Australia and Radio Andernach in Kabul, Afganistan. 7 2 Case Study 2: Eurovision Song Contest 2006 Athens The Eurovision Song Contest has been the largest annual pop-music and media event in Europe for exactly 50 years. Current TV audiences for the show average 100 million viewers. On 18th and 20th May 2006 the show took place at the Olympic Indoor Arena in Athens, Greece. 37 countries sent their best artists to take part in the competition and the scale of the technical preparations this year was huge. To make the difficult job of national commentators and their technical teams easier, and to unify the support workflows, MAYAH s Portable Gateway Codecs were chosen for their reliability, flexibility and ease-of-use by the technical supplier of the event TVN (Germany). Installed in every commentator s booth, the transmitted journalists voices via networks directly to the national TV channels control rooms. Special channel mapping was prepared to provide the journalists with a comfortable, headphonesbased monitoring environment. Function buttons on the s control panel were used for special presets, including an automatic SOS call for technical support, which wasn t engaged even once during the event.
