4 Welcome to bavel, You will find in this document the instructions to install the bavel communicator on your computer. Please contact Voxel support department should you have any queries about it. 1 General Overview The bavel communicator is an application used to send certified transactions on the internet using the Voxel-baVel Platform. This platform is interconnected with the different bavel communicator and other already existing platforms. 1.1 Connectivity requirements To proceed with the installation you will need first of all to check that your computer complies with the system and connectivity requirements. These requirements are specified in the document Software Hardware Requirements for bavel Communicator _vxxx.pdf available in the following links: In the bavel page link: under the menú Manuals, In the Clients Area page, following the link: (access password protected) under the menú Support Manuals 1.2 The bavel Communicator components The bavel communicator has two working modules, the Server which maintains the effective connection to the Voxel-baVel platform and it is transparent to the general user and a Client workstation which is interconnected with the server and displays the graphic interface for the user to perform its common duties. 5 A. Server The Server is a Service that maintains the effective connection to the Voxel-baVel platform. It conceals the digital certificate required to send/receive transactions and maintains the local data base downloading and uploading transactions and the client/provider agenda. These actions are carried out in a transparent mode to the user. This means that if the user does not take action, the server will communicate with the platform to update the local data base, being the system able to send a warning when a connection loss is detected. B. Client Workstation Whilst the server synchronizes periodically with the platform for updating, the client workstation is the graphic interface of the end user for checking and maintenance of the local database. A user that requires to manually send a transaction, upload a master file, maintain the own structure in the platform, etc. will require to use the proper tool within the client workstation. Should you require any instruction manual for the client Workstation of the bavel Communicator this can be found in our web page or you can ask for them via the to support@voxelgroup.net 2 Downloading of the installer program for the bavel Communicator You will need to access the Voxel group page to download the bavel communicator installer: Next, download the application Instalación Cliente-Servidor de bavel included within the Software menu. 3 Installing options The bavel Communicator architecture allows for different installing options. It is the client responsibility of the client to choose between these options. The installation can be done with both client and server installed in the same computer or in different ones, when connected through a network. 6 3.1 Client-Server Installer A. Execute the icon of the bavel communicator installer and accept the antivirus warning if required to start installing the program. B. The installation process will start. You will need to select the language first of all and accept the license agreement. C. Component selection. The next window will allow selecting the installation components. You need to choose the Client/server option (figure 1). Figure 1. D. Then it starts the component installation, during this process framework.net will be installed, which can take between 5 to 10 minutes to end up. It is normal that the installation progress bar remains still during this time. E. Once finished the installation process, a new window will appear with the message Installation Complete. You need to accept the warning and the window. The next step is to configure the Server and the Client of the bavel communicator. To do so, please follow the next steps. 7 3.1.1 Configuration of the Server of the bavel communicator The Access to the configuration of the server can be done in two different ways: Accepting the message There is no managers installed, do you want to create one? which appears at the end of the installation process. Accessing the program CNCServerConfigurator.exe existing in the folder C:/Catanet_net_client, once the bavel communicator has been installed. The first case, when accepting the message, a new window will appear requesting a subfolder name and an IP port to connect the client (the default port is 7767). The subfolder name can be alphanumerical and the Voxel recommendation is to input the db_ prefix followed by the name of the company for maintenance purposes only (please check the example on figure 2). Figure 2. In the following window you will need to accept the Setup Firebird database by clicking or not the checkbox Rushed writes (this option is recommended by Voxel). After this step you will access the server configuration through the window BaVel Server Manager (figure 3). This window is also accessible when running the program CNCServer Configurator mentioned above. A.G. v.1.4 Date: 19/01/2011 Page 7 of 12

Add a user within the window Users, by pressing on the blue button This user will be used but the client workstations to connect to the server. 9 B. Afterwards it is required to download the certificate, using a user name and password provided by Voxel Media SL (figure 5). In the event that before installing any of these requirements were missing or unknown, please contact the support department at Voxel which will guide you through to obtain or get them. Once the certificate has been downloaded you will need to accept the Windows warning to finish its installation. Figure 5. C. The configuration must be saved using the button Save configuration existing on the bottom right corner of the window. Afterwards the service must be started. To start the service press on the orange button Start/Restart Service at the top of the window. NOTE: When required a proxy server can be configured. It is then required to click the checkbox Enable Proxy located in the sub window Advanced Setup this will enable a dialog box to configure the proxy. 10 3.1.2 Configuring the Client Workstation of the bavel communicator The access to the client Workstation is done from the icon BaVeL's client application existing in the windows desktop. Execute this icon and in the window Start bavel Communicator access the tab Setup Connection. Fill in the fields: Connection name using an alphanumerical name identifying your company. Network host address which should be followed by the IP port configured on the server, when this is different than the default port 7767, User name and Password with the details informed when installing the server. If the checkbox Save password is not selected, the client password will be required every time you log into the bavel Communicator client. Save the changes using the Save button provided (figure 6). Figure 6. Once the changes have been saved the client is accessible from the Default connection tab where the configured connections will be shown. Please press on the Connect button to start the client workstation (figure 7). Figure 7. The Client Workstation will open up ready for initial synchronization and the download of an updated version. NOTE: The initial synchronization will load the contact agenda (available one hour after the certificate was downloaded) and the necessary modules to start operating through the Voxel-baVel platform.
