3 NOTE: The Kodak Creative Production Software (KCPS) configures itself based on your country and license level. Not all sections are applicable. Installation 1. Insert the CD into your CD-ROM drive. WINDOWS detects the KODAK Creative Production Software (KCPS) automatically and starts the installation process. 2. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the install. Setup 1. Select a type of installation. Typical is recommended. Quick is recommended for trying the software before using it in a production environment. 2. Choose a workstation setup. If you are not sure what option to select: A stand-alone install runs the software on a single computer using only local paths. No other computers are connected to it, nor does the computer share files with a computer running the KCPS software. A server-install runs the software on a central computer over a network and has multiple computers running the KCPS software. The central computer is set up to share files that the computers will be able to access. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 2

Client/Server Setup: WINDOWS Firewall When setting up KCPS as a workstation/server configuration, your KCPS workstation may not communicate with your server due to the WINDOWS firewall.

To allow the workstation to communicate with the server through the WINDOWS firewall: 1. On the server machine go to Settings > Control Panel > WINDOWS Firewall. 2. 5 3. From the Add Program window click Browse. Navigate to the following location: C:\ProgramFiles\MicrosoftSQLServer\MSSQL$KEXDSSSERVERF\Binn\sqlservr.exe and click OK. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 4

To share the KCPS installation folder: 1. On the server computer, browse to the KCPS folder (where you have your software installed) and right-click the folder. 2. From the KCPS Properties window click the Sharing Tab. 3. The Allow network users to change my files check box is selected by default, click to deselect the option and click again to re-select it. 4. 7 Network Printer Configuration For most printers you will need to know your printers network IP address and resolution so that you can configure the KCPS software properly. When you have this information write it down until you are ready to enter it into the necessary fields. If you do not know where to find this information ask your KODAK Service Representative. Many printers communicate with a Hotfolder Application. You should know which type of Hotfolder applications can interface to your printer. Make sure the application is installed in the correct location and installed on the workstation that is sending files to the printer running the KCPS software. When you setup your printer you will need to save your image files to a shared folder. The printer needs to be able to access the shared folder so be sure the path is a Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path. For example: (\\servername\sharedfoldername). EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 6

8 APEX Printers If you are sending work to an APEX printer, your product sizes must be supported by APEX. The following sizes are supported: 4x6 5x7 6x8 8x10 8x12 WINDOWS Printers Configuration You will need to create a WINDOWS printer configuration file when setting up a new WINDOWS printer. To do this: 1. Select WINDOWS printer from the list of printers. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 7

9 2. Enter a name for your printer. 3. Enter a name for your new configuration file then click Page Setup. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 8

10 4. From the Page Setup window click the Printers button. 5. Make sure Portrait is selected for all WINDOWS printers. 6. Choose the correct printer from the list and click OK. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 9

11 7. Enter a name for your printer queue. 8. Click the button and select an output profile for your printer. 9. Click Save to finish. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 10

12 Noritsu QSS31 Pro Printer Configuration The Noritsu QSS 31 Pro printers communicate through a HotFolder application. The Qss31Pro Image Print Server (IPS) is a hot folder application that allows the KCPS software to print to the Qss31Pro printer. This application needs to be setup on the computer, which is sending files to your printer. 1. To open the IPS application, browse to Program Files\Kodak\KCPS\QSS31Pro folder and click the KODAKPROFESSIONALQss31ProImagePrintServer3.0.8.exe to run it. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the application. 2. Open the IPS application, from the Edit Menu select Application Parameters. 3. Enter your printer IP address and click OK. 13 FTP Setup File Transfer Protocol (FTP) is an optional feature used to upload jobs to a central printing location. An FTP Username and Password are required. If you do not have this information contact your KODAK Service Representative. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 12

14 Print/Collage Sizes and Prices You will have to define your print sizes and prices. The software sets the following default print sizes: 4x6 5x7 8x10 11x14 You can modify these sizes as necessary. You must assign a printer queue to each print. EASTMAN KODAK COMPANY 13

License Management The software communicates with a license server and requires Internet access. If you do NOT have Internet access, you can upload your license_request.xml file manually.

22 The Navigator To access the Navigator window follow the steps below. You can use the Navigator to manage different areas of the software. 1. Click the Administration button to open the Navigator. 2. The password for the Navigator is blank. Click OK. 3. To set your own password, click Change Password. Render Engine The render engine sends your work to a specific printer and is automatically started when you start the software. 1. From the Navigator window, select Printing > Render Engine. 2. From the Render Engine Controls screen, select a printer and then click Shutdown. Note: After clicking the shutdown button, wait for the checkbox to clear before choosing another render engine.
