5 success stories references u project/customer u challenge u solution EN Train Communication System Railtec Systems GmbH, located in Hergiswil (Switzerl), is specialized in providing services for transport enterprises suppliers in all areas of control engineering software for rolling stock. Control solution for a spark extinguishing system GreCon is specialized in preventive fire protection, measuring systems x-ray scanners. GreCon is one of the leading companies worldwide in the ion of systems for detection combating sparks in pneumatic extraction conveyor equipment. CANopen Safety Chip CAN in Automation (CiA ) is a nonprofit organization founded by several companies in order to provide technical, marketing information about CAN protocol. With introducing more more multimedia services for customers passengers in the transportation sector, dems on communication systems in trains are increasing, while the space available for electronics is often limited. In addition, many multimedia void software packages are available for Linux ix86 platforms. To satisfy the need for performance in deming applications to close the gap to commonly known ix86 platforms, SYS TEC electronic developed a 19 rack mountable communication platform. Fire hazards, created by chipping machines in the wood processing in the foods, feeds, textile, leather chemical industrial operations represent a high risk in the automation process. Smoldering fires dust explosions can result from the sparks produced by the machines. To avoid danger of this kind GreCon developed a fire extinguishing system. For this system a micro-control system for the activation of peripheral devices should be developed. The CSC consortium hosted by the CiA GmbH (CAN in Automation) commissioned SYS TEC electronic with the of the CSC01 as well as CSC02 CANopen safety chip. Both versions of the CANopen safety chip are ed for use in safety-relevant applications up to SIL3 (Safety Integraty Level). The system comprises a CPU module, Backplane, Power Supply module as well as an I/O module. The system is EN50155 Class Tx compliant allows for operation at temperatures from -40 C to +70 C without the need for active cooling. The PLC runtime system by SYS TEC electronic was tailored to the specific customer requirements seamlessly integrated on the module. The control system enables parallel execution of PLC programs customer-specific program components programmed in C programming language that are loadable at runtime. In this system the highly efficient operating system controls the prioritized execution of a processing function for detecting sparks their direction of flight as well as the communications process. The interface for the connection of two CAN networks was realized by using an instance capable CANopen protocol stack developed by SYS TEC electronic. To achieve SIL3 certification for single-processor solutions the international IEC stard requires a diagnostic coverage level of >99 % within a defined safety cycle time. This high degree of diagnostic coverage requires extensive error detection procedures such as diagnoses of the flash, RAM, CPU register Op-code. The particular challenge of the project led to the integration of these error detection mechanisms. The complete, including accompaniment of the testing by TÜV was done by SYS TEC electronic. The project phases included amongst others creation of the safety, testing of the safety by TÜV Rheinl, hardware software, verification validation of the hardware software, testing of the CSC01 / CSC02 by TÜV Rheinl. Particularly close collaboration with the customer the approval authority was implemented in this project. This was of particular significance to effective successful project progression. With the experience gained in this project, SYS TEC electronic is predestined to carry out device based on CANopen Safety Chip to take on other safety-relevant projects as well.

Testing device for electronic brake systems The Continental Automotive Group develops electronic solutions for the global automotive market. They search constantly for innovative ideas to make our streets more secure. The range covers brake-, chassis safety systems up to system solutions for engine controller, sensors hybrid technology. CANopen-based emergency switch-off futronic, a subsidiary company of Jetter AG, is a manufacturer of electronic control systems. The focus of their activities is in the glass industry, where the control systems are used worldwide. AUTOMOTIVE LIGHTING was looking for a headlight testing device for manual semi-automatic testing of vehicle headlights. The devices should be usable in headlight, model building, testing for analyzing serial parts. The ion- process at Continental Automotive is monitored audited by sophisticated systems. For this scope a testing device for electronic brake systems should be developed. futronic was looking for a safety-compliant electrical switch off with self-testing functionality as a component of electronic glass processing plant control systems. The headlight testing device developed by SYS TEC electronic is ed as a modular insertion system can be assembled related to the operation. Generally, the configuration of all functions is done from the PC. Individual functions can, however, also be controlled directly on the headlight test device. For accessing the headlights resp. the electronics of the headlights discrete, compatible signals are generated. Likewise the device evaluates the discrete signals that are put out by the electronics of the headlights. The communication with the headlight electronic happens via serial interfaces (LIN, CAN). An integrated USB port allows for exped testing functionality. A powerful COM object server was implemented for the PC, which is placed on the USB interface. In this way, the user is independent when creating the PC software. This project included the complete job from, hardware, software, integration verification on a prototype up to manufacturing of a small series. SYS TEC electronic developed a testing device for electronic brake systems - the XMS-Box. It can be connected to the PC using the USB interface; it is a real-time controller on ISO-K CAN serves additionally as a RS232/ISO-K level converter. Thus it is possible to simulate realistic driving situations test the brake s features. Likewise the XMS-Box is capable to transmit the test patterns stalone (without a PC) to the braking system.
