2 GPS Legacy Products Configuring GPS 6500 and 6000 For Legacy Displays When configuring the GPS 6500 or 6000 receivers through an Ag Leader compatible display, a Dual Port Mobile Logging Cable (PN: ) and an Ag Leader Null Modem Cable (PN: ) are required. Port B on the mobile logging must be plugged into the display cable in order to configure Port A. 1. Go to Status Indicator (top right button) > GNSS > View Messages 2. Press command window keyboard > type "unlogall com1" > green check > Send : This will clear out any commands foreground or background that may be turned on on port A. 3. Press the double ended wrench. 4. Then select the GPS/Guidance Setup" icon. 5.From GPS/Guidance Setup page, select GPS 6500 Receiver "wrench" icon. The GPS settings page will now populate. This will show that Port B is the "Connected" port. NMEA Talker must be unchecked. GPS Legacy Products 1

3 6. Select Port A to configure appropriate NMEA strings for use with a legacy display. 7. Adjust baud rate, NMEA strings, and Hz rate for use with the appropriate display below: 1. Edge and Insight baud rate, GGA(Legacy), VTG, and set to 5hz rate. 2. PF series and YM monitors baud rate, GGA(Legacy), VTG, and set to 1hz rate. 3. Important Note: You will not be able to change the baud rate below if 10 Hz is selected. To achieve a lower baud rate, first adjust the Hz rate as required by the legacy display. 8. Once Port A is configured, disconnect Port B from the InCommand or Integra/Versa/Compass display. The receiver is now ready for use with Legacy display. Answer: The InSight connects to the Trimble Nav Controller wiring harness with one connection. A null modem cable (PN ) is required and included with all new InSight monitor kits. On the Trimble side, there is a display cable (54612) that connects to the display cable on the Nav Controller and switches from a 12-pin deutsch to a 9-pin serial for connection to a monitor. The Nav 2 Controller (Ceres - Silver Box) will also connect the InSight version 2.0 or higher; the Nav 2 also needs to be on version 3.4. 8 GPS 5100/5200 What is Autoseed Fast Resart? ã AgGPS 252 GPS receiver with AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart technology How do I get AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart Technology into an existing AgGPS 252 receiver? The Autoseed technology will be enabled within AgGPS 252 firmware version The functionality is configurable ON or OFF, based on the customer's preference. How much does AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart Technology cost? With Trimble's continued dedication to customer satisfaction; the Autoseed technology will be an available option within firmware version 2.11 free of charge (Available September 2004). Simply download the firmware from the Trimble web site, re-flash the AgGPS 252, turn on Autoseed technology, and it is enabled. Where can I receive additional information on AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart Technology? For more information on Autoseed technology, please contact your local Trimble representative. AgGPSÂ 252 multi-function receiver has enabled farmers to gain a whole new level of accuracy without the need for local base-station support. The OmniSTAR HP signal has been found to be an excellent solution for Agriculture applications. The signal type requires a convergence period to gain sub 2-inch pass-to-pass accuracy. AgGPS Autoseedâ Fast Restart Technology is Trimble AgGPS exclusive technology developed to greatly reduce the time needed for convergence upon an AgGPS 252 power cycle. How does AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart technology work? Once OmniSTAR HP has initially converged, Autoseed technology allows the user to cycle power on the AgGPS 252, and obtains similar accuracy levels as to those achieved prior to shutdown. Through advanced GPS technology, Autoseed technology utilizes the GPS position at power-down to provide a quick and efficient start-up. The user simply starts the system, allows the receiver to acquire the appropriate satellites, and is ready for operation. How do I ensure proper operation and maximum performance with the new AgGPS Autoseed Fast Restart technology? To ensure proper operation and customer satisfaction, the vehicle must remain in the same location from shutdown to start up to benefit from Autoseed technology. It is recommended that you work with your reseller to fully understand how the Autoseed technology works and to ensure optimal performance. Note: Vehicle movement will result in unsatisfactory performance including longer convergence times and positional offsets. To benefit from Autoseed technology, the vehicle should be shutdown with a clear view of the sky and not moved before powering up again. 11 GPS 3000/3050/3100 PF with Add-on GPS Sluggish Behavior Symptom/Indication: PF3000 with and Add GPS is responding slow or sluggish to button presses. Problem/Cause: In July of 2007, old WAAS satellite PRNs 122 and 134 were decommissioned. The PF3000 Add-on GPS units will require an upgrade to be able to utilize the new WAAS satellite PRNs 135 and 138. Units that have not been upgraded may not track current WAAS PRNs 135 and 138 and may also take several seconds to respond to button presses. Solution: Add-on GPS firmware of 3.0 or higher is required to use the new WAAS PRNs, upgrade to current firmware. Switch GPS output language from TSIP to NMEA if the lightbar is not being used. Note: GPS 3100 receivers produced before 1999 with board revision AL9001 cannot be updated to the current firmware version 3.00 and will no longer be able to track WAAS after the AOR-W and POR satellites have been decommissioned. These receivers can still use Coast Guard Beacon or OmniSTAR VBS differential corrections. The linked map below shows the relative locations of the new WAAS 135 and WAAS 138 satellites over North America. Answer: The EZ-Steer system can be installed on any approved agricultural vehicle with power steering. This includes tractors, articulated tractors, tracked tractors, combines, swathers, floaters and sprayers. 21 Hard and Soft Resets on the EZ-Guide 250 and 500 Overview Resetting may be periodically required for the EZ-Guide if it is not behaving as expected (e.g. a menu item isn't displaying, etc.) There are two resets for the EZ-Guide, a hard reset and a soft reset. Generally, it is always best to do a soft reset first and see if that has fixed the issue. The soft reset will restore default settings where the hard reset will both restore default settings and clear management items. 28 Bad ID Upon Shutdown on PF Series Monitors Bad ID Upon Shutdown on PF Series Monitors The Bad ID error occurs during shutting down the PF monitor, this is a known issue with version 6.01 firmware. When you encounter this, press the bottom left button to navigate through the two error messages and then the monitor will save to card and shutdown. Receiving the Bad ID or Bad Param error occasionally is caused by using an add-on GPS/21A lightbar combination; this is not a cause for sending in the display. 29 Q: Which lightbar is compatible with my display? Question: Which guidance lightbar is compatible with my Ag Leader display? Answer: The current lightbar offering sold by Ag Leader is the L160 CAN A lightbar. It is compatible with the Ag Leader InCommand 1200 and 800, Integra, Versa, Compass and EDGE displays. The AgGPS 21A lightbar is no longer sold by Ag Leader but is compatible with the InSight display and PF series consoles when used in conjunction with an Ag Leader add-on GPS, such as the 3050, 3100 and 4100 model receivers.
