2 Easy to Operate and Easy to View The GForce microprocessor control panel display is clear, crisp, and easy to view. Utilizing a large 15 diagonal, full 32-bit-color, LCD display with 1024 x 768 pixel resolution and a 120 viewing angle, the GForce provides extremely fine resolution and color variations, making even detailed screens appear with superior clarity. Compressor View The GForce display is also a resistive touch screen with active touch areas clearly indicated. The screen can sense a stylus or a bare, oil-covered, or even gloved finger. Navigating from screen to screen is so easy it s almost natural. A Touch of the Suction Pressure Display area near the graphical compressor s suction inlet will bring up a screen with all Suction Pressure parameters control, alarm and shutdown. Access of all panel information is one or two screen touches away! OmniView View it Your Way! The GForce panel display is flexible. Operators can tailor it to the way they like to see it with a choice of three main operating screens Compressor, OmniView, and Classic View. The Compressor screen shows a graphical representation of the compressor and system components. The OmniView screen provides a tabular display of everything you want to know about the compressor on a single screen, giving the ability to change a parameter and watch the effect from one screen. The Classic View screen, a favorite of people who have worked with refrigeration systems for a long time; shows gauges, meters, lamps and pushbuttons typical of an electro-mechanical panel. Classic View Further customization is available for multi-language support English, Spanish and Chinese. The GForce is adaptable for almost any language. Many different tasks can be done at the panel while the compressor is running parameter access; viewing on-screen drawings and operating manuals; making maintenance log entries; updating a maintenance scheduler; viewing historical trend data and alarm history; etc.

3 For safety purposes, a red Emergency-Stop mushroom style switch in the panel door is hard-wired to the compressor motor starter circuit. Optional enclosure features will include oversized 36 H enclosures and Nema 4X stainless steel or fiberglass enclosure materials. This latest microprocessor control, utilizes widely accepted and proven hardware and core software systems, making the GForce control panel the most operator-friendly, practical and easy-to-use control panel in the industry. Easy Ethernet Communications Easy Ethernet Communications The GForce Ethernet TCP/IP communication port makes the panel easily compatible with outside communications. By connecting the GForce panel to an existing Ethernet network, a User with access to the panel through their plant s network security is able to view and access the panel as if he were standing right there in front of it. All GForce screens are sent as HTML Web pages to any Java-enabled web browser; no additional software is needed. The 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Port also supports Modbus/TCP/IP communications for access from an FES Systems MicroLINK Supervisory Computer, the plant s DCS, or some other type of supervisory system. Easy to Install Panel Service technicians who were not familiar with the GForce panel have been able to successfully install the panel, setup the operating parameters, and have the compressor operating quickly usually within one or two days with little or no assistance from the factory. The mounting of the panel is identical to that for an FES Systems Micro-II/IIE or Micro-III Panel. The standard GForce panel is designed and built to meet UL/cUL 508A, Type 4 rating. The carbon steel enclosure is the same size as the standard FES Micro-III control panel 30 H x 26 W x 8 D and has a metallic silver, powder-coat finish. If the FES LifeTrac Vibration Monitoring/Analysis System is purchased as an option, it is integrated into the GForce panel; no separate display is needed just touch LifeTrac selection on the main GForce screen to bring up the screen from LifeTrac unit. Easy to Maintain and Easy to Update Panel data storage and retrieval to/from an ordinary USB flash memory drive plugged into the GForce panel s USB 2.0 interface makes data transfer simple and versatile operating program, parameters, historical trend data, compressor manual and drawings, even a User s own document or picture in PDF format (SOP s, equipment service photo, etc.) can be stored in the GForce memory for viewing. GForce program updates are easy. The update can be shipped or ed from FES Systems and transferred to the GForce processor in the field through this same USB interface. A washdown mode puts the panel screen into a mode where it accepts no touches so that it can be cleaned. After cleaning, a series of touches at specific points indicated in sequence by the panel software will return the screen to its normal responsive mode. The GForce maintenance scheduler lists maintenance tasks with time interval between service operations, time stamping when service is done, and tracking of time remaining (in run-time hours) until next time service is due. The GForce maintenance log provides a way for users to enter date and time stamped notes into the panel for future viewing. This can be used to let others (perhaps the next shift) know what has been done previously or just for keeping records.

4 Easy to Support When trouble-shooting a problem, the refrigeration technician can quickly look at diagnostic utility screens, on-screen manuals, drawings and trouble-shooting guides. Also capturing Rx-Trend historical data the technician can quickly display all analog and digital status with the capability of ing the data to others for diagnosis. The GForce panel can intelligently link from a screen such as Alarm Annunciation to a view of supporting documents, such as operating manuals and schematic drawings that can aid as a trouble-shooting tool for the operator. The GForce panel has a minimal number of components to change and a minimal number of connections between them, making troubleshooting and repair easier. The main components are as follows: Processor/Touch Screen Assembly I/O Interface Board I/O Rack Power Supply I/O Modules, Relays, Fuses Here is an example to illustrate the diagnostic and support features of the GForce panel. What can an Operator do to find out why a compressor shut down unexpectedly? The Shutdown Failure annunciation provides the actual shutdown condition. The Rx-Trend graphical screen displays the status of all analog and digital control signals recorded at ½ second intervals for the 10 minutes prior to the shutdown occurrence. Analyzing this display may help indicate the source of the problem. If additional help is needed, a technician can use a common USB flash memory drive to transfer the Rx-Trend data from the panel, and then can this information to the servicing contractor or FES Systems for analysis and support assistance. If sensor or interface hardware failure is suspected, diagnostic screens are available for further diagnosis to help pinpoint the problem. If the technician remembers this same shutdown occurring last week, he can view that Rx-Trend historical data from the previous week, which is still stored on the GForce panel. Comparing the two graphs may help indicate if the same thing occurred. Once the source of the problem is determined and if a part is needed, the technician can access FES Systems supplied drawings, data sheets and parts lists to locate the part that must be ordered, again right at the GForce panel. Finally, the service technician can enter the repair into the panel s own usercustomized, date-stamped maintenance log for future reference. Reliable & Secure Built on an industrial processor hardware platform and utilizing the proven Microsoft Windows XP Embedded operating system software, the GForce panel will meet the reliability required by the Industry. Control Hardware Want more details on its reliability and construction? The GForce industrial processor is made for tougher environments designed for control purposes, not for desktop PC use. It is based on a 1.5GHz Intel Celeron M processor, which is used in many products and is expected to be available and supported for more than 10 years. And when the Celeron M is no longer available, the GForce panel design will allow for replacement of a malfunctioning processor with one that is available, extending the life of the panel much longer than this time estimate. Program and data storage is not on a rotating hard disk, a device that is known for failure in industrial environments. Instead the GForce mass storage media is "disk on chip" type flash memory with wear-leveling technology, which means it will provide reliable data storage for a long time to come. The mass-storage memory in the GForce is manufactured by the inventor and patent-holder of flashmemory technology. The GForce panel screen is weather and chemical resistant, and can withstand even a high-speed impact from a blunt object. Its expected life is tens of thousands of hours, and after a period of no touch activity, the screen backlight will turn off and the entire screen goes blank to lengthen its life. Integral to the monitoring and control provided by the GForce panel is an I/O interface board custom-designed by FES Systems for interfacing directly to the compressor's field devices. The industrial processor accesses all field devices by communicating with this I/O interface board via a robust RS485 network connection using the Modbus protocol, a very reliable means for reading the state of the inputs and directing the outputs. The I/O Interface Board, with its own microprocessor, has the capability of overriding the main processor communications interface and shutting off the outputs for failsafe operation. It will direct all control outputs to their safe state if a hardware, software, or control voltage problem is detected. Three levels of "watchdog" protection are designed into the panel hardware and software to ensure that the compressor (or other equipment) is only driven when the panel is working properly. Even the inside panel temperature is monitored, and will generate an alarm if too high. I/O Interface Board

5 Rounding out the hardware is the I/O Rack, which has a ribbon cable connection to the I/O Interface Board. The rack has space for 24 I/O modules configured as inputs or outputs by the configuration held in the panel program. Universally-available digital modules are used with built-in fuse, built-in LED indicator, and available with built-in H-O-A toggle switch. The I/O rack includes a fuse tester circuit and space for spare fuses. And the Software? The GForce panel's operating application software was developed directly from the FES Micro-III panel, providing functionality that has been well-tested and proven reliable since the mid 1990's. This application software interfaces to Microsoft's Windows XP embedded operating system, which has been custom tailored for the selected hardware described above. The Windows XP embedded operating system and software development tools, used to develop the GForce application software, are used by many companies in many, many products operating throughout the world, making the GForce panel's software very reliable. By using proven operating system software and proven development tools, the FES Systems GForce development team has been able to concentrate their main efforts on implementing and testing the control and monitoring of the compressor, not the support software. Is it Secure? The GForce panel has three levels of security, accessible via password entry: Basic - Able to view operating conditions & navigate screens, clear alarm & shutdown annunciations, and stop compressor; cannot make any changes. User - All that Basic access allows plus: able to change operating parameters, start & stop the compressor, transfer data from panel to USB flash memory drive, and transfer PDF files to user directory in panel memory; cannot change service-related items or tasks Service - everything that User access allows plus: able to load programs and parameters, able to calibrate sensors and perform other service tasks, able to make entries in maintenance log, able to make changes in maintenance scheduler, and clear anti-recycle time Easy to Apply and Easy to Expand Each GForce I/O interface board provides (16) analog inputs, (4) analog outputs, and can drive (2) I/O racks with (24) digital input/output module positions. The analog inputs can be used for a variety of signal types: ICTD (Integrated Circuit Temperature Device), including up to 4 channels that provide 0.1 F resolution with an ICTD for process control applications 1-5VDC / 0-20mA / 4-20mA Motor current monitoring will be from a 4-20mA signal (a CT will require a 4-20mA converter) The analog outputs are 0-24mA limited through software to 4-20mA and can be driven by an external 24VDC power source. The most commonly supplied solid state digital input and output module are 120VAC, but these can also be 24VDC, 240VAC and dry contact type depending on the application. The GForce I/O interface board has expandability designed in, with a multi-drop communications interface giving the ability to have distributed and even remote I/O. Multiple I/O interface boards can be connected to the GForce Processor. Space is provided in the standard GForce enclosure for one I/O interface board and two I/O racks. Larger enclosures will support higher I/O counts for refrigeration "system" type control applications like condenser control, pump package control and evaporator control. Smaller remote enclosures will support lower I/O counts required for applications like control of one or two remote evaporator air units.
