3 Pocket PC Order Entry It is extremely important that these instructions be followed precisely as each download and installation prepares the system and devices for the next step. Download Installation Manual Download and review the Stanpak PDA Updater Documentation for Pocket PC. Install Desktop Software Install the software that accompanied your hand-held device at the time of purchase and spend some time gaining a strong familiarity with the following procedures specific to your hand-held device: Navigating within the system, installing and uninstalling the PDA applications, closing and opening applications and the proper use of the sync device and stylus. AppForge Booster Program Visit to register, purchase (if necessary) and download the AppForge Runtime Booster Program. Follow the instructions on the AppForge Website for specific download and installation instructions. Stanpak PDA OE Updater Visit and download thestanpak PDA OE Updater for Pocket PC. The download program creates an Extract Icon. Double click this Icon to launch the Stanpak PDA OE Updater for Pocket PC. Follow the on-screen prompts for instructions. Once the Stanpak PDA OE Updater has been installed on your PC, click Settings and trace to User Configuration to enter the Administrative Settings. You will be prompted to enter the Admin Name and Admin Password. These were faxed to you with the receipt of your purchase of the Stanpak PDA OE Updater System. 4 You will need to complete the following fields on the Configuration Menu An ID that will uniquely identify each salesman and his ID. 2. A password to coincide with the ID. 3. Enter the password/data expiration period 4. Generally, qbridge for Unix users and qftp for Linux users 5. The password that coincides with the FTP Login 6. Your server IP address 7. Your Prophet 21 Stanpak Branch sign on 8. The Data Path for the Branch sign on 9. The salesman s Primary Inventory ID 10. 5 11. Select whether the salesman will sync data from the local machine or a remote location Complete Steps 12 through 14 only if the salesman will be syncing data from a remote location. Otherwise, skip to Step Enter the office address. 13. Enter the salesman s address 14. Enter any test that will appear with each sent to this salesman. 15. Click the Save Button 16. Click the Add New User Button Repeat these steps for each salesman that will be using a Pocket PC to access the Price Book and BCBI files. Run PDAM Prepare the Prophet 21 Stanpak Server to communicate (receive orders and send data) to the salesmen. From any Prophet 21 Stanpak Selection prompt, type PDAM to start the Salesman PDA Maintenance Program. Enter data exactly as it was entered in the previous steps, that is enter the correlating values so that they match the configuration menu from the updater program. Sales ID: 01 Salesman PDA ID: Enter the value entered in Field 1, PDA ID, on the Configuration Menu. 02 Primary INV #: Enter the value entered in Field 9, Primary #, on the Configuration Menu. 03 Secondary INV #: Enter the value entered in field 10, Secondary # s, on the Configuration Menu. 04 Tertiary INV #: Enter the second value entered in field 10, Secondary # s on the Configuration Menu. 05 License ID #: This value was ed to you, along with your with the receipt for your purchase of this program. 06 Fax Number: This field is informational, and should contain the salesman s home office fax number if applicable. 07 Internet #1: This field is informational, and should contain the salesman s home office address, if applicable. 08 Internet #2: This field is informational, and should contain the salesman s secondary address, if applicable. 09 Stanpak ID: If your company uses the Prophet 21 Stanpak program, the Salesman s ID should be entered here, if applicable. 6 Once your Admin Settings have been entered, and prior to your first data transfer, you must contact Activant Stanpak Technical Support, in order for the security settings on your Stanpak server to be set, that will allow the transfer of data between your server and the Updater Program. You will not be able to process orders with your Pocket PC until this step is completed. Download PDA Updater and Install on Pocket PC Visit locate and click the link to download the PDA OE Program. The download program creates an extract Icon. Double click this icon to launch the Stanpak PDA OE program. Follow the on-screen prompts for instructions. Build BCBI and Price Book Files From the Main Menu in Stanpak, enter PDAX or PALMX (depending on the age and version of your Stanpak System). Follow the on-screen prompts to create a PPI1P file that contains Price Book and BCBI files for transfer to a hand-held device. See the Prophet 21 Stanpak PDA UPDATER MANUAL for exact details on producing the PPI1P file. Transfer Files to the Hand-Held Device Open the Stanpak Pocket PC Updater and follow the on-screen prompts to transfer the PPI1P file to the hand-held device. It is extremely important to remember that the hand-held device must remain cradled throughout this process. Prior to performing the hot sync, ensure that all running Stanpak applications on the hand-held device. Finally, perform a hot sync to send the files to the hand-held device.
