3 1 Expectations and Background This document describes the minimum requirements for successful configuration of the GEi210+c meter with the Sensus FlexNet radio module. 2 UL Meter Block II This section describes the UL Meter requirements. Although the GE-i210+c meter is available in both non-ul and UL versions, Sensus will only support and release the UL version. o All Sensus meters shall be built with the UL MMA with the MOV removed from the base. o The non-ul version of the GE-i210 MMA shall not be used. 3 Meter Firmware Sensus has only tested and will only release GE i210+c Meters with Firmware version 3.3. with the 3.1 patch. All meters shall be built with meter firmware v Softswitches This section describes the minimum requirements. The GE-i210+c meter supports eleven (11) softswitches. Seven switches(7) are mandatory to meet minimum Sensus Flexnet requirements and shall be included in all meters: A2 Switch must be enabled to use meter with AMI module E2 Event Logger Upgrade: User programmable 200 event log Diagnostics/Errors/ Cautions. N2 Demand Upgrade R2 Load Profile Recording; adds four channels of recording T2 Time Of Use Upgrade: Adds TOU rates plus date stamping V2 Enables Voltage Event Monitoring (Sag/Swell) Q2* Power Quality Upgrade: Activates low potential monitoring and display of RMS momentary voltage One (1) Switch is Optional and Supported: k2* Reactive & kva Measurement upgrade. Adds second measurement (Reactive or kva) Three (3) Switches are not currently supported via FlexNet: F2* Enables Load Control Feature - Emergency Conservation Period (ECP) J2* Enables Load Control Feature - Demand Limiting Period (DLP) U2* Enables Load Control Feature - Pre-Payment Mode (PPM) Sensus. 4 5 MeterMate 1) Version o MeterMate v5.53 is required. o Note: MM Version 6.X is not supported, tested or released with FlexNet. 2) Rate Type o Although the meter supports three (3) rate types Demand, Demand LP and TOU/LP, the FlexNet release will only support TOU/LP. 7 9) Meter Diagnostics Options o Voltage Event Monitoring should be Enabled. 10) Recorder Options o Load Profile Interval Length: The GE-i210+c Meter and the Sensus FlexNet module must both be configured in to support the Load Profile Interval Length. Although the meter can be configured to supports up to twelve different load profile interval lengths, the FlexNet module will only support four(4) interval lengths: 5 min, 15min, 30min and 60min. 9 6 GE i210+c Configurator Sensus Meter Order Checklist The below items need to be confirmed prior to completion of a GE i210+c Meter Program (.pro). 1) Confirm that the meter has the following softswitches: A2, E2, N2, R2, T2, V2 & Q2. 2) Confirm the meter program.pro was built with MeterMate v ) Confirm the rate type has been programmed for Time of Use (TOU)/Load Profile(LP). 4) Confirm the meter LP Interval Length is configured to = 5 min, 15 min, 30 min or 60min. 5) Confirm that the meter has been configured for Daily Self Reads. 6) Confirm that the Demand Metering Auto Self Read on Demand Reset is DISABLED. 7) Confirm the Voltage and Current Transformer Ratio Prompt is DISABLED. 8) Confirm that the Event Log Monitor Voltage Events is ENABLED. 9) Confirm that Load Profile Outage Recovery is ENABLED. 7 FlexNet Firmware and RNI Device Type Support The Flexnet Device Type is DT-20. Sensus has released FlexNet firmware v for Production and OTA Upgrade. RNI support is available on NA003(RNI 3.3.1) and NA002(RNI ) 8 FlexNet RF Transmissions Supervisory Transmit Rate For the GE-i210+c Device Type 20 FlexNet module. For new factory orders, the following STR options are available. The minimum available STR is 30 minutes. Operations has the ability to lower the STR to 15 minutes once field deployed. This change should only occur after careful consideration of network performance. For the DT-20, the minimum allowable STR is 15 minutes. Sensus. All Rights Reserved. 9

13 12 Overvoltage and Brownout The 2S, 240 volt rated meter has a voltage range of +/- 20% of nominal so the max voltage the meter can withstand is 288 V. The 120V rated meter has a minimum voltage range of 96V. The service error settings in MM were intended to help utilities NOT make the mistake of putting a 2S meter in a socket wired for a 12S network meter, or 1S meter in a 2S socket. 13 INI File GE i210+c settings Newly manufactured meters will be configured in the factory. Each customer order will have a unique configuration file( ini file) that identifies the customer specific parameters. The ini file along with the factory DLL software configures the Flexnet radio at the GE factory. The following values are fixed, invalid or not configurable for the GE i210+c: o SyncvoltageAverage Window=0 //0=false, always NO for GE-i210+c o PushQualityOfServiceTier=0 // always 0 for GE-i210+c o TOU Tier5=0 //does not exist in GE-i210+c o MeterSampleRate=1 //not selectable for GE-i210+c ESM o ExtendedKwhResolution=0 // 0=false=1kwh, not selectable for GE-i210+c ESM o EnableOverClassAmpsReporting=0 //0=false, not supported in GE-i210+c 14 Validator - Expectations and Background via FNU This section describes the steps required to manually verify the FlexNet Radio configurations for a GE i210+c Meter with Device Type 20 FlexNet radios via FlexNet Utility (FNU). This includes the minimum requirements for successful configuration of the GE-i210+c meter with the Sensus FlexNet radio module. FNU Software version >= v should be used.
