1 BoardEx BoardEx contains data from publicly listed companies about their board members. You find BoardEx in the list of financial databases on the website of the EDSC. See list of financial databases: To get access to BoardEx you need a VPN-connection or you can access BoardEx content through EZproxy. You also need a user name and password to get access to BoardEx. See for off-campus access to our digital collection: To request a username name and password, send an to edsc@eur.nl containing the following information: your full name and student address (i.e ab@student.eur.nl). After this you will receive the login credentials from the BoardEx support desk by . You are not allowed to share your credentials with other individuals! If you open the BoardEx database, you can login with your login credentials at the upper right corner. Choose analytics to log in (BoardEx Analysis Tool). You will see these screens: Screen 1: Screen 2:

2 Basic Search and Advanced Search: You can search the BoardEx database through Individuals or Organizations. Enter the name of the company and click on "go". You will see the "summary" of the company. If you choose for Individual you will see the profile of the individual. You also can do an advanced search for Individuals and Organisations. Choose Advanced Search For example we can search for the constituents of the AEX. Select the AEX on the general tab on the right, halfway up to the middle. Click on Go at the bottom left.

3 You will see the constituents of the AEX. Creating a List in BoardEx: We can create a list of the AEX (25 constituents) Click on the button Select All On Page Select Add To list Select New List Give the list a name.

4 Select Create in Organisation Client Lists Click on the button Create Now we have a list of the (25) constituents of the AEX. In this way we can create all kinds of lists via advanced search. From indexes to self-assembled lists. Downloading Data in BoardEx: Select on the left side of the screen in the blue part Download Select Multiple Pages Organisation

5 This screen appears: Here we can select the list of the AEX we have created. Select the box behind or: and select your list. Now we can download via Multiple Pages the data we want for all the AEX companies. For example select Annual Compensation Summary or multiple other items. We still have to give our download file a name at Enter Description. As example we give it the name: AEXAnnualCompensation You can choose between a Word or Excel file as output. Click on the Download button and your file will be generated. You will see this pop up screen:

6 Click on Ok Select on the left side of the screen Downloaded Files Here you will find all your downloaded files. The data you will get is only the latest available Report Date. So in the year 2018 you will probably get data from December 2017 for all the AEX companies in this output. You can open your file by simply click on it: BoardEx Report - Jun xls This is how the output looks like:

7 Downloading (Historical) Data for several years: It is possible to select Historical Data via "Analysis" in the blue menu on the left side. Data for multiple years can only be downloaded per company. For example we choose the company KPN (Koninklijke) NV via a Basic Search. Select at the left side of the screen Analysis Organization Annual Compensation Summary Select Report Date Click on the years you want to select and then click on the shopping cart Select Download on the left side of the screen.

8 Select Basket Enter Description: (For example: KPN 2012 t/m 2017). Select your output Word or Excel. Click on the Download Button This Pop Up will appear:

9 Select Downloaded Files It may take a while for the download file to turn blue (sometimes 15 minutes). When the file is blue you can open it. Now open your file: BoardEx Report - Jun xls This is the output for KPN (Reporte date 2015) with multiple years of data: (You see the different tabs with the years at the bottom of Excel)
