1 Basics Changing a profile picture and the cover photo in Facebook Profile Mouse over your profile picture until you see a pop up button, then click the button to see the selection list. If the photo you want to use is already in your Photos on Facebook, click that option. You can take a photo if your PC has a camera, or upload one you have already taken. Locate the picture you want to use and click Open And that picture replaces the other one.

2 Cover Photo This works in a similar way. Mouse over the cover photo until you see the change cover button pop up. Either choose from photos already on Facebook or upload one. This time we will take one already on Facebook. Click on the photo you want to use Drag the picture up or down to position it, then click Save Changes

3 And now both the Profile picture and the Cover Photo have been updated. Writing on a PDF Want to change the text on a PDF? Well you cannot write on the PDF but you can convert the file to a document so you can make changes. Let s look at how that might be accomplished. A PDF is a document that is easily sent by or downloaded from a Web site. The document you are reading is in that format. You download it and open it in Adobe Reader. However, you cannot change the information on it unless you have very expensive or the latest Office 2013 Word program from Microsoft. It lets you open a PDF for editing directly. That said, there are many free Web based applications that will allow you to upload a PDF and have it converted to a DOC file you can download. The two we demonstrated in class were: and word Simply select the file and click convert. When it finishes you have the option to download it.

4 Creating a PDF You have the option to save any file that can be printed as a PDF file instead. You just need to install a PDF Printer. It then becomes one of your available printers to select. If you are using Word 2010 or 2013 or OpenOffice (LibreOffice) you have the option to save as a PDF. Office 2003 and 2007 have add ons from Microsoft that will allow it as well. Google Docs also allows you to save as PDF. Most other programs only allow you to print to a printer. Hence the need for a PDF printer. I use one called PDF Creator I downloaded using Toolbars How do we get and get rid of those pesky toolbars? Well, we usually get them by not paying intention when downloading and installing programs. In addition to the program we want to install, the provider gives us choices to install other items as well. These are usually indicated with checkboxes we and check or uncheck. The secret is to RTFS (read the friendly screen) carefully. Using ninite is one way to avoid making a mistake as ninite installs assuming you do not want any extras. OK, you have somehow gotten toolbars and do not want them. The first place to go is to your unistall programs area. Find this in the Control Panel in Windows, or under Tools in CCleaner, or on the Advanced Tools screen in Glary Utilities:

5 Click Uninstall Locate any program named as a Toolbar and click Uninstall Program. This will remove the offending program and take the toolbar away from all your browsers.

6 Disable them in the Browser Then go to each browser and locate the addons section to Disable or Remove each one still showing. Chrome Firefox > Settings > Extensions Internet Explorer > Extensions > Manage Add Ons > Toolbars and Extensions
