1 NUterm 2015 On-line GENERAL Selection Step-by-step Before logging in to the Housing On-line system, please verify the following system requirements: System Requirements 1. If you are using a MAC, the recommended browser is Firefox v3.5 or above. If you are using a PC, the recommended browser is Internet Explorer (IE) v6.0 or above, or Firefox v3.5 or above. Safari, Opera, Chrome, and Mozilla browsers are NOT recommended and may cause you to experience technical difficulties. 2. This site uses pop-ups. Before logging in, please configure your browser or pop-up blocker software to allow for pop-ups from this specific site. 3. If you wish to view the floor plans, you must have Adobe Reader installed. All floor plans are PDF files. If you wish to download Adobe Reader, you can do so from MYNEU/Community Tab or Download Adobe Reader 4. If you do not have access to a computer or you wish to select your room with the assistance of a Housing & Residential Life staff member, please stop by Speare Commons at the time you are scheduled to select or any time after. **If technical issues arise and the system is not available, updates will be posted on MYNEU STEP 1: LOG INTO THE SELECTION SYSTEM via myneu After logging in, click on the Self Service tab and then click on the HOUSING ON-LINE link in the lower right hand corner of the page under ROOM & BOARD. 1

2 STEP 2: FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO CHOOSE A SPACE FOR THE NUterm 2015 SEMESTER. YOU MAY ALSO CHOOSE A ROOMMATE(S) AT THIS TIME. Screen shots have been provided for an easy guide to walk you through the process. If at any time you run into problems, please call (voice), (TTY) or housing@neu.edu. Our staff will be available to assist you with any difficulties as quickly as possible. If you or call during non-business hours, please do not expect a response until the next business day. Screen 1: Once you log into MYNEU and click on the HOUSING ON-LINE link, you should see a screen similar to the one displayed below. Allows you to view current and past housing assignments. This can be done any time before or after you choose your 2015 NUterm space. To begin the room selection process, click on Summer I 2015 Room Selection and then Select your NUterm Assignment Get your roommate registration code and password Up-to-date information will be listed here along with a list of available rooms and apartments which you can review prior to your scheduled selection time. 2

3 Screen 2: The following pages will give you an overview of the steps that need to be completed in order to successfully select a room for the NUterm 2015 Semester. Choose Continue once you are ready to proceed. 3

4 Screen 3 (optional): This screen will allow you to research some of the buildings you are interested in before running a search for availability. The links provided will take you to an informational screen which will include floor plans. Example: Select a building Click here to continue with the assignment process 4

5 Screen 3A (optional): Below is a sample page and the information available for the building selected. If you are done reviewing the building information, click either Back to Hall to choose another building or Back to Advanced Search to go to the next step. 5

6 Searching for an apartment/room Screen 4: Once you have finished researching the buildings, you will then search for availability. You can search by any or all of the criteria listed on this screen. A. First, you MAY (optional) select the building in which you would like to search for a vacancy. B. Next, you will most likely (optional) want to search by room type. Here you can decide if you are looking for a double or single and also search for the rate type that interests you. (i.e. Enhanced, Standard or Economy) C. If you would like (optional) to search for apartments of a certain capacity (5-person apartments, 4-person apartments, etc.), you can select the appropriate number in the apartment capacity field D. Lastly, you MUST (required) select the gender of the apartment. Students of opposite gender are not eligible to live in the same apartment, unless you are selecting during Gender Neutral Housing selection. For information on this process please contact the office at You can search for housing using any, all or none of these criteria. Gender is required for searching based on your gender. 6

7 Screen 5: The criteria you entered on the previous page will produce a table of results. You will notice that ONLY the room type you chose will be listed. See example below. Criteria set was to Building = Coventry At this point, you can: -View the type of apartment by clicking on the apartment number. You can then view a floor plan and roommates (if other spaces within the apartment have already been selected). OR -Click on GO for the apartment you wish to lock. Once you click GO, you will have 15 minutes to hold the apartment to determine if you want to select the space for the Summer I 2015 Semester. 7

8 You can proceed in one of the following ways: (1) Choose a room individually (without roommates) (2) Choose an apartment with roommates (SKIP to Screen 7 if selecting during the group selection times). Steps for choosing a room individually (without roommate choices) Screen 6: Once you lock the room, you will have 15 minutes to choose a bed space. After choosing your bed space, click Only Assign Room for Me to continue if you are applying by yourself and do not want to assign roommates. Choose the bedroom you wish to book and then click Only Assign Room for Me if you DO NOT want to assign roommates. If you have selected Only Assign Room for Me, skip to Screen 8. 8

9 Steps for choosing a room for yourself and roommates. Screen 7: You will now have 15 minutes to choose a bedroom and enter your roommate(s) choices. A. You must first choose the bed space you wish to reserve for yourself. B. Next, you must enter the Roommate Registration Code and Password for anyone you wish to assign to your apartment. (Each student was provided with a Roommate Registration Code and Password. You need this information from each student you wish to choose as a roommate). C. Once all your roommates are added and are valid, click Assign with Roommate(s) to continue to assign your roommates a bed space. Step A: Choose bed space you wish to assign to yourself Step B: List all roommate choices. Each student was given a Roommate Registration Code and Password (passwords are case sensitive) to be shared with the person who will be choosing the apartment. Step C: Once roommate(s) and your bed space was chosen, click Assign with Roommate(s) 9

10 Screen 7B: You will now have to assign your chosen roommate(s) a bed space in your apartment. Once each roommate is assigned a bed, click Yes, We want this room. Click when ready to confirm 10

11 Screen 8: Review your selection(s) and choose Continue to confirm your final selection. If you change your mind, click Cancel. Please be aware that if you click on Continue, the information on this screen will be confirmed and you will not be able to change your assignment or add roommates (if applicable). 11

12 Screen 9: Your selection has been CONFIRMED for the NUterm 2015 Semester. Please print and save a copy of this receipt for your records. Please print and save a copy of this page for your records! CONGRATULATIONS! YOU HAVE NOW COMPLETED YOUR GENERAL ROOM SELECTION FOR THE NUterm 2015 SEMESTER. At this time you will not be able to make any changes to your selection.
