If a new release of Tiger changed the size of these control blocks, Tiger would fail the initialization. The only way to get the new release installed was to IPL and run the new Tiger TG10INIT job. If you wanted to fall back to the prior release, you would encounter the same problem. You would have to IPL to go back to the prior release. This fix changes the way Tiger manages it TGVT and TGIB control blocks. For each run of TG10INIT, Tiger will build a new TGVT and TGIB. Once these are in place, it will delete the old TGVT and TGIB. This fix requires TGR 255 to be applied to the older release for complete protection. TGR 255 was published as: RO RO RO RO Ensure the appropriate PTF is applied prior to installing this fix. The TGVT addresss never changed in previous releases for a given Tiger subsystem. With this fix applied, the TGVT and TGIB addresses will change with each run of TG10INIT. In addition, the following keywords have been added/changed to support enhanced customization of these values. ESTIMATED-INPUT nnnn By default, Fast Load examines the SYSULD files at OPEN to estimate the number of rows located in the input files. While this number is reasonably accurate, it may be overridden by this keyword. ESTIMATED-ROWS nnnn RTS By default, Fast Load queries the DB2 catalog to determining the number of existing rows/keys in the table being loaded. If the Catalog value has never been initialized, Fast load will then use RTS stats to obtain a value. When using the option ESTIMATED-ROWS RTS, this order is reversed and RTS Stats will be used first. When a numeric value is used, that value will be used for the total number of existing rows in the table space. This PTF also introduces a new message which will display either the calculated or user-specified estimate of the number of records in the SYSULD dataset.
