3 WinRT (XAML) Essential Grid Cell Types and Cell Formatting This feature allows users to set cells in the DataGrid control to automatically format data in different ways depending on the cell type. To set a cell as a type, string format properties must be set for specific rows and columns. For example, a salary cell will automatically add a currency symbol before the number entered, and a date-time cell will format numbers entered as dates or times. Grid with Cell Types Freeze Group Caption Row Using the freeze group caption row feature, users can highlight a particular row or a group of rows and freeze their movement so they always remain visible. The frozen row will remain locked at the top of the screen, even when users scroll up and down to other parts of the grid. Multiple cells can be grouped to appear in the second level of each row. 4 Grid with Frozen Rows On-Demand Paging Whether users are working with one page of data or one hundred, on-demand paging enables viewing and sorting data in a manageable way, page by page. Navigation buttons at the bottom of the screen allow users to select specific page numbers for closer examination, filtering, and sorting. 5 On-Demand Paging in a Grid Serialization and Deserialization Filtering and sorting grid data takes time, and serialization allows users to save their data with filter settings applied as an XML file for future use. The data will be loaded directly from the XML file and sorted automatically. Deserialization causes the filtered settings to be removed from the grid. Serializing a Grid Syncfusion, Inc. 6 Excel-Like Filtering With Excel-like filtering in the DataGrid control, users can quickly filter data using a variety of options similar to Microsoft Excel. Sorting options can be selected from drop-down lists, and sorting can be performed from largest to smallest, alphabetically, and so that all data in a grid is visible. A search text box is also included to filter by letters, names, or numbers. Excel-Like Filtering Localization With localization support, any language can be added to the UI elements of a grid through code, enabling the grid for use in any region. 7 Stacked Headers Stacked headers allow users to add multiple headers at the top of grid columns in order to group other headers. For example, two columns named Phone number and Address may be grouped under a stacked header named Contact information. Stacked Headers in a Grid Export to Excel With support for exporting to Excel, users can export any data grid to an Excel workbook. When the data grid is ready to be exported, users simply click the Export to Excel button and the data will be exported to a new workbook. All formatting, including lists, hierarchies, and organization, will be exported as well, so the grid will appear the same in the workbook as it does in the DataGrid control. 8 Cut, Copy, and Paste With cut, copy, and paste support, users can copy grid columns and paste them into a word processor. Columns can be copied individually or in groups, or users can copy an entire grid. Grid items like ratings will be displayed as their corresponding number value when pasted, and check boxes will be listed as "Yes" if selected and "No" if cleared. Pasting a Grid into Notepad Multicolumn Drop-Down The multicolumn drop-down feature enables users to add a grid as a drop-down list box. The grid can be expanded to any size from the drop-down. 9 Grid as a Multicolumn Drop-Down Unbound Columns Unbound columns are columns that are not attached to underlying data, but are instead determined by other column data through expressions. When added to code, expressions such as GrandTotal for addition or Quantity*Amount for multiplication will determine the unbound column values based on the values present in the other grid columns. 10 Essential Chart Printing This feature allows users to print charts as OneNote or XPS files. Essential PDF Viewer PDF Viewer for WinRT This component provides a fully functional, interactive, and touch-ready PDF viewer for the WinRT platform. It features buttons for changing the zoom level, navigating to the next and previous pages, and jumping to specific pages within the document. The viewer can render PDFs from locally saved files or streams, and can draw the PDF using DirectX. Unlike other PDF viewers that load an entire document at once, the PDF Viewer loads documents on demand to minimize the amount of memory consumed.
