1 INSTALLATION & USER GUIDE ShoreTel Web Dialer Chrome Extension ShoreTel Professional Servcies Introduction The Web Dialer Chome Extension allows users to dial phone numbers appearing on a web page with a single click. This application solely depends on the web browser and unlike ShoreTel Web Dialer does not require ShoreTel Communicator or the ShoreTel TSP. Therefore, the Web Dialer functionally is supported on MAC and Linux computers. The application consists of the Web Dialer Service application running on the ShoreTel HQ (Director) server and a ftp directory containing the Web Dialer browser extensions. User s install the Web Dialer extension by navagating the the URL and selecting the proper extension (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari) for their browser. ` Chrome versions 17 and later are supported. Limitations: Does a "best guess" on whether a string of digits represents a phone number. Most of the time it is correct, but not all. Only tries to detect "external numbers". Shorter digit strings such as internal extensions can be dialed using the browser context menu. Cannot detect numbers that are rendered with images. Some web pages use certain scripting techniques or other technology that does not allow the content to be processed. Cannot detect numbers which have been split apart by HTML (<bold>331</bold>- 3300). The Application Licensing Server must be installed on the ShoreTel Headquarters (Director) server inorder to install the Web Dialer Service license key. The Application Licensing Server may be downloaded from the ShoreTel support website: Installation and Configuration The following steps are required to install and configure the application. Install the Chrome Browser Extension The ShoreTel Director (HQ) server contains the documentation and the download link to install the browser extension. Enter the URL Director Server>/webdialer in a Chrome browser where <ShoreTel HQ Server> should be replaced with your ShoreTel Director (HQ) server s hostname or IP address. The following directory is displayed: Please read the ShoreTel Web Dialer Chrome Extension documentation before clicking on the ChromeWebDialer.html page to install the extension. Click the upper right ShoreTel icon to remove the highlighted message.

Clicking on the Chome icon and then selecting Tools followed by Extensions.

7 Configure Web Dialer There are two methods for opening the Web Dialer configuration page: 1. Clicking the ShoreTel icon on the upper right corner and selecting Settings, or 2. Clicking on the Chome icon and then selecting Tools followed by Extensions. The Options link can then be selected oeopn the Web Dialer configuration page. 9 Web Dialer Browser Controls The Web Dialer extension adds a ShoreTel browser icon and context menu entries. ShoreTel Browser Icon The ShoreTel icon is located on the upper right corner of the browser and provides a popup to enable/disable the creation of dialable links and access to the Web Dialer configation. The check mark next to Enable Links indicates that dialable links will be created on the web page. Selecting the Enable Links link toggles check mark which can be used to disable the creation of dialable links. Context Menu The Web Dialer adds context menu entries to rescan the page and for dialing highed phone numbers on the web page. Rescan Page Dialable links are created when the web page loads. If the web page contents dynamically change, there may be new numbers which do not have dialable links. This function rescans the page and creates dialable links for the new numbers. The rescan page context menu entry appears under the following conditions: Web Dialer links are enabled No digits are highlighted (selected) on the web page, and The cursor is not in a text input field containing digits. Web Dialer Call This context menu entry allows you to place a call to highlighted number on a web page or to a number in the active text box on the web page.

10 Web Dialer Call This context menu entry allows you to place a call to highlighted number on a web page or to a number in the active text box on the web page. If the number format is not recognized, the user may be given multiiple choices for dialing the number. Web Dialer Usage Listed below are the search results for target san jose.
