1 Direct Links to Individual Electronic Articles These instructions tell how to link students directly to individual articles in electronic form. Use these links in Blackboard and on web pages hosted at Loyola. See the last page of this handout to create links for off-campus access. This is a URL, or web address, that will go straight to this citation. Copy the Persistent link to this record to bring your readers directly to this entry. They will have to click on the link for full text. That link may say HTML text, PDF text or Linked Full Text, as shown here. 2 The citation will appear for the user just as it appears above, with a link to full text. JSTOR JSTOR has electronic versions of back issues of numerous scholarly journals. Here is a sample search result, showing the Stable URL to use in linking directly to the article. Project Muse Project Muse is a collection of current journals, mostly in the humanities and social sciences. Click on HTML Version, then copy the URL in your browser, like ProQuest Databases are: ABI/Inform Global (business), Criminal Justice Periodicals, Hoover's Company Records, Los Angeles Times, New York Times (current and historic), Times- Picayune, Washington Post and Wall Street Journal. Click Copy link for a link window: American Chemical Society e-journals Locate the article you need and bring up the abstract, not the full text. Copy the URL in the browser s title bar. There are links just below the abstract to the plain text (HTML) and Adobe Acrobat (PDF) versions of the article. Britannica Online jh Direct Links to Individual Electronic Articles page 2

3 Scroll down to the bottom of the article to find the section To cite this page. Copy the web address within the angle brackets. CQ Researcher Search for and bring up your issue. Click on CiteNow! Use the address that appears in the citation. Be sure to drop the Document ID at the end. Oxford Art Online and Oxford Music Online Search for the article you want and click Cite. Copy the URL in the citation: International Index to Music Periodicals Full Text (IIMP FT) Locate the article to which you want to link. Click on the Durable URL link. Nature Copy the URL from the browser s address bar and use it to create your link. Naxos Music Library Login with the professor username, click on the track you want to include in the playlist, click "Add to Playlist" and the track will be added to an existing playlist. Note that the link is rather long. Making articles available to students off campus This method may be used only on Loyola servers: the university web server and Blackboard.
