1 USER GUIDE DASHBOARD OVERVIEW A STEP BY STEP GUIDE
2 DASHBOARD LAYOUT Understanding the layout of your dashboard. This user guide discusses the layout and navigation of the dashboard after the setup process is complete. Synthesio dashboards contains two major functional areas: 1) the Navigation Sidebar on the left-hand side of your screen, and 2) the Content Window, which displays the section of your dashboard to which you have navigated. NAVIGATION SIDEBAR The navigation sidebar organizes your dashboard into seven tabs: Listen Analyze ROI Reports Build Connect Training Center This guide will cover the Listen, Analyze, ROI, Connect and Training Center tabs. To learn more about the Reports tab, please refer to the Research and Reporting guides. To learn more about the Build tab, please refer to Setup, Design, and Human Review guides. The tabs in the Navigation Sidebar expand and minimize on click, so you can easily access and manage all the pages within each tab. This is helpful in case you have many pages within a single tab, such as the Analyze tab (which will house nearly all the widgets you add to your dashboard).
3 LISTEN TAB Understanding the Listen Tab. The Listen tab is the engine room of the Synthesio dashboard, from which you can monitor real-time conversations on all online channels, examine mentions, and engage directly with specific users on Facebook and Twitter. You can also use the Listen tab to discover new ways to dive into and share your data. You can click on any point in the Timeline to find all mentions for that particular day and to see the hourly evolution of mentions. Clicking on an hourly point will take you to a chart showing the minute-by-minute evolution of the mentions for that hour.
4 You can also change the period of analysis by using the calendar option, including the ability to search for mentions by the hour. The Word Cloud shows the most frequently used words used within the data. It supports non-latin characters, (e.g., Russian, Chinese, Japanese, and Arabic). Hover your cursor over a word to see other words (highlighted in blue) that are used frequently with that term. Click on a word to filter the entire Listen tab - including filters on the right-hand side - by that keyword (and load a new word cloud).
5 As you scroll through the mentions (the page is enabled with infinite scroll), you can click on the mentions most relevant to your project. and/or download to Excel any mentions that you wish. Each mention box displays various metrics about the source and nature of the comment or post, including Source Type, Location, Sentiment, Influence, Source and/or User Profile.
6 For news articles, blogs, forums etc., click on the new Full Story link to get an overview of key influence metrics for the site in which the mention appeared. Clicking Full Story for micro-blogging or social media mentions provides you with data about the author of the mention.
7 If enabled, Collaborate with your team for Community & Crisis Management. View History & Internal Notes under Full Story for an in-depth view of User Activity & Conversations.
8 ANALYZE TAB Understanding the Analyze tab. The Analyze tab houses nearly all the standard widgets (KPIs) you add to your social intelligence dashboards. This guide will cover a few key widgets in depth. For a full description of each of the widgets in the Synthesio platform, and how to add them into your dashboards, please refer to the Design guide. SENTIMENT Understanding Sentiment. The Sentiment widgets (covered in this section) allow you to analyze tonality to discover trends, compare and contrast data, and track evolution of the conversations surrounding your brand. All Sentiment widgets will automatically appear under the Analyze tab in your dashboards, in the pages and orientation in which you place them. SENTIMENT TIMELINE Evolution by Sentiment

10 SENTIMENT OVERVIEW Breakdown of Sentiment Analysis You can change overall dashboard settings by clicking the Settings icon on the top right of the dashboard. Or, you can quickly change the settings of individual widgets by clicking the gear icon.
11 Export the widget chart using the picture icon. You can export the widget data as well, by clicking on the CSV button. These export options are also available by right-clicking (Cmd+Click on Mac) on the widget. INFLUENCERS Understanding Influencers. It s sometimes difficult for brands to sort for relevance because of the amount of content constantly being generated. With the Influencers tab, which also automatically appears under the Analyze tab, you can identify influence by levels - websites, users or individual mentions, filter number of online mentions, identify top consumers on Facebook, Twitter, Sina Weibo and more. Within the Influencers widget, differentiate between general popularity and industry relevance. You can view your Top Influencers by Source type: Twitter Facebook Forum Blogs Mainstream (newspapers, TV, radio, etc.
12 You can drill down to a specific data set, e.g. Topic and Country. By clicking on the number in the mentions column associated with a given user, you can drill down to that user s conversation history for in-depth insights.
13 Click on the star icon by a username or site name in Influencers to save a "Favorite" influencer. You can then use not only use this monitor the most important influencers across multiple platforms simultaneously, but also filter your entire dashboard to focus on them in the dashboard-level settings.
14 ROI The goal of ROI metrics is to move beyond simply KPIs to enable Synthesio users to better understand the impact of social efforts. SOCIAL REPUTATION SCORE (SRS) Understanding Social Reputation Score (SRS). The Social Reputation Score (SRS) widget automatically appears under the ROI tab in your dashboards. It helps users understand the general online mood towards any brand or topic by generating a single score (using 3 different formulas below). Formulas Net Sentiment Volume Rating Influence Rating NET SENTIMENT Factors volume and sentiment of posts with a focus on only positive and negative posts. VOLUME RATING Factors volume and sentiment of posts applying different weights to positive, neutral, and negative posts.
15 INFLUENCER RATING Factors volume, SynthesioRank and sentiment of posts to give a holistic number, while applying different weights to positive, neutral and negative posts. SynthesioRank: is a powerful, business-oriented influence ranking tool, specifically designed to help the world's leading brands and agencies to identify the sites and content that matter to them. The algorithm calculates a score (out of 10) for every mention and piece of content collected. The algorithm adapts to different source types so the most relevant data is used in developing the score. MAINSTREAM + BLOGS + FORUMS Relevance -- Specific to client s industry Impact -- # of times a keyword or phrase was mentioned Websites (Mainstream) # of Comments (Blogs) # of Responses (Forums) REACH (ALEXARANK) VISIBILITY ON GOOGLE (PAGERANK) ACTIVITY VOLUME AUTHORITY # OF INBOUND LINKS BRAND TOPICS # OF ON-TOPIC MENTIONS FACEBOOK POPULARITY # OF FANS IMPACT # OF LIKES OR COMMENTS BRAND TOPICS # OF ON-TOPIC MENTIONS TWITTER ACTIVITY # OF UPDATES BY USER REACH # OF FOLLOWERS BY USER AUTHORITY # OF TIMES A USER WAS LISTED (VOLUME) BRAND TOPICS # OF ON-TOPIC MENTIONS YOUTUBE REACH # OF VIEWS ACTIVITY # OF COMMENTS BRAND TOPICS # OF ON-TOPIC MENTIONS
16 CONNECT TAB Understanding the Connect tab. The Connect tab displays external services that you may connect (integrate) -- or have already connected -- with your Synthesio dashboards. To learn more about these services and how the integration process works, please contact your Account Manager. TRAINING CENTER TAB Understanding the Training Center tab. Clicking the Training Center tab takes you to the Training Center on the Synthesio website, which is outside your dashboard. The Training Center contains Guides and Webinars to help you learn about the product and stay up to date with the latest information. Product updates are also posted in the Training Center, so it s recommended to visit the Training Center periodically.
