Skills coveed: Inset Pictues and Remove a Backgound Apply an Atistic Effect and a Pictue Style Coect a Pictue and Change Pictue Colo Cop and Compess Pictues Ceate a Backgound fom a Pictue Inset a Pictue fom the Intenet STEP1 INSERT PICTURES AND REMOVE A BACKGROUND You stat the memoy album with a pictue fom the couple's Sweetheat Ball. Because the Title Slide layout does not include a placeholde fo content, you add a pictue using the Inset Pictue fom File featue. You then inset images into content placeholdes povided in the album layout. Refe to Figue 4.19 as you complete Step 1. Open the p04h 1 memoy pesentation, and then save it as p04hlmemoy_lastnamefistname. Use you last and fist names. Fo example, as the PowePoint autho, I would name my wokbook "p04hlmemoy_kebscynthia." [ TROUBLESHOOTING: If you make any majo mistakes in this execise, you can close the file, I open p04h1 memoy again, and then stat this execise ove. ) b. Ceate a handout heade with you name, and a handout foote with you instucto's name and you class. Include the cuent date. C. On Slide 1, click the Inset tab, and then click Pictue in the Images goup. You add a pictue using the Inset Pictue fom File command because the Title Slide layout does not include a placeholde fo content. The Inset Pictue dialog box opens. d. Locate thep04hlmeml.jpg file in thep04hl_3memoy_media folde, and then click Inset. The pictue is inseted, sized to fit within the slide magins, and centeed on the slide. 6. Click the Size Dialog Box Launche in the Size goup on the Pictue Tools Fomat tab to open the Fomat Pictue dialog box. Click in the Height box in the Scale section, select 100, and then type 90. Click in the Width box in the Scale section, and it will change to 90% automatically. Typing 90 in the Height box automatically sets the scale fo Width to 90% because the Lock aspect atio check box is selected. CHAPTER 4 Powepoint Rich Media Tools

2 f. Click Position in the Fomat Pictue dialog box, and then set the Position on slide Hoizontal option to 4.5" fom the Top Left Cone. Set the Position on slide Vetical option to.5" fom the Top Left Cone. Click Close. g. Click the Inset tab, click Pictue in the Images goup, and then locate and inset p04hlmem2.jpg. The pictue fills the slide. It is selected, and the Pictue Tools Fomat tab is active. h. Click Remove Backgound in the Adjust goup. An automatic maquee appeas aound the image that includes most of the flowe. Some petals ae cut off and need to be added back in. i. Dag the top-cente sizing handle of the maquee to the top of the image. The top petal is now included in the maquee. j. Dag the left-cente and bottom-cente sizing handles of the maquee until all petals ae included in the pictue (see Figue 4.20). ~ ^- FIGURE 4.20 Adjusted Maquee > k. Click Keep Changes. The backgound is emoved fom the flowe. I. Click the Size Dialog Box Launche in the Size goup to open the Fomat Pictue dialog box, and then emove the check in the Relative to oiginal pictue size checkbox in the Scale section. Click in the Height box, and then type 40. Click in the Width box in the Scale section, and it will change to 40% automatically. m. Click the Position tab in the Fomat Pictue dialog box, and then set the Position on slide Hoizontal option to 0.17" fom the Top Left Cone. Set the Position on slide Vetical option to 4.83" fom the Top Left Cone. Click Close. n. On Slide 2, click Inset Pictue fom File in the lage content placeholde on the left side of the slide. Click thep04hlmem3.jpg file to select it, and then click Inset. O. Use the Inset Pictue fom File buttons in the two small content placeholdes on the ight side of the sceen to inset p04hlmem4.jpg and p04hlmem5.jpg into you pesentation. Note that in all thee cases the images wee centeed inside the placeholdes. The pictue of the hands is copped because it was in potait oientation but placed in a landscape placeholde. p. 3 STEP 2 APPLY AN ARTISTIC EFFECT AND A PICTURE STYLE The title slide includes a pictue of the couple that you want to stand out. The Atistic Effects galley includes many pictue effects, and the Pictue Styles galley includes a vaiety of Pictue Bode effects. You decide to expeiment with the options available in the galleies to see the impact they have on the title slide pictue. You apply an atistic effect and a pictue style. On Slide 1, select the pictue of the couple, and then click the Pictue Tools Fomat tab. b. Click Atistic Effects in the Adjust goup. The Atistic Effects galley opens. Point to the effects, and watch how each effect impacts the image. TROUBLESHOOTING: Some of the atistic effects involve extensive changes, so expect a I slowdown as the peview is ceated. C. Click Textuize (fouth ow, second column). A light textue is applied to the pictue. d. Click the Moe button in the Pictue Styles goup. The Pictue Styles galley opens. Point to the styles and watch how each style impacts the image. e. Click Cente Shadow Rectangle (thid ow, fist column). A gay shadow appeas evenly aound the pictue. f. Click the Home tab, click Fomat Painte, and then click the flowe pictue. You copied the atistic effect and pictue style and then applied it to the flowe. g. Select the pictue of the couple again, and then click the Pictue Tools Fomat tab. h. Click Pictue Bode in the Pictue Styles goup, and then click White, Accent 3, Dake 10% (second ow, seventh column) in the Theme Colos section. CHAPTER 4 Powepoint Rich Media Tools

4 i. Click Pictue Effects in the Pictue Styles goup, point to Bevel, and then click Cool Slant (fist ow, fouth column of the Bevel section). The Bevel effect is applied to the oute edges of the pictue. j. Save the pesentation. STEPS CORRECT A PICTURE AND CHANGE PICTURE COLOR You want to include two pictues of the couple in the memoy album, but the pictues wee taken in diffeent lighting conditions. You decide to use PowePoint's coection tools to enhance the pictues. You also change the colo of a pictue to match the cool-toned blue theme of the pesentation. On Slide 3, use Inset Pictue fom File in the content placeholdes to inset p04hlmem6. jpg into the left placeholde andp04hlmem7.jpg into the ight placeholde. b. Select the image on the left, and then click Coections in the Adjust goup on the Pictue Tools Fomat tab. Click Bightness: -20% Contast: +20% (fouth ow, second column of the Bightness and Contast section). The image became slightly dake, and the inceased contast bings out the pictue detail. C. Select the image on the ight, and then click Coections in the Adjust goup on the Pictue Tools Fomat tab. Click Bightness: +20% Contast: -40% (fist ow, fouth column of the Bightness and Contast section). The image became bighte, and the contast is educed. ^ d. On Slide 4, select the pictue of the bide. e. Click Colo in the Adjust goup, and then click Tempeatue: 4700 K in the Colo Tone galley. The wam tones in the image ae conveted to coole tones, which casts a blue hue ove the pictue. f. Click the Moe button in the Pictue Styles goup, and then click Soft Edge Oval (fouth ow, second column). g. Save the pesentation. STEP 4 CROP AND COMPRESS PICTURES You have included pictues of the goom dancing with the flowe gil but decide to cop one image. You compess the image to delete the unwanted aeas. You also compess all images in the slide show to educe the file size of the slide show. Refe to Figue 4.23 as you complete Step 4. Hands-On Execises PowePoint 201O

Because the pictue was famed with a window in the backgound, the light is a bight, white distaction. You decide to cop a potion of the window fom view. b. Click the View tab, and then click Rule in the Show goup, if necessay. Activating the ule will make it easie fo you to detemine the aea to cop. f TROUBLESHOOTING: The ules ae a toggle featue, so if yous ae aleady displayed, skip I step b o epeat it to edisplay the ules if you closed them. I C. Select the lage pictue on the fa ight, click the Pictue Tools Fomat tab, and then click Cop in the Size goup. d. Position the Cop tool ove the ight cente copping handle, and then dag inwad until the guiding line on the vetical ule eaches the +41/4" mak. The esulting size of the image is 7.5" high and 4.29" wide. e. Click Cop in the Size goup again to cop the aea fom view and to tun off the Cop featue. f. Select the top-left pictue, and then click the Home tab. Click Fomat Painte, and then click the pictue you just copped on the fa ight of the slide. The pictue style is copied onto the copped pictue. g. Select the copped pictue, and then click the Pictue Tools Fomat tab. h. Click Compess Pictues in the Adjust goup. The Compess Pictues dialog box opens. i. Click Sceen in the Taget output section. j. Click the Apply only to this pictue check box to deselect it. You need to compess all the pictues you have used in the pesentation to educe the pesentation file size, not just the selected pictue. k. Click OK. The potions of the image that wee copped fom view ae deleted, and all pictues in the slide show ae compessed. I. Save the pesentation. CHAPTER 4 Powepoint Rich Media Tools

6 STEPS CREATE A BACKGROUND FROM A PICTURE The bide chose ochids fo he table decoations, and you want to include a pictue of one of the ochids as the backgound setting of a pictue of the bide and goom. Refe to Figue 4.24 as you complete Step 5. FIGURE 4.24 Backgound fom a Pictue > a. Click the Design tab. b. On Slide 5, click Backgound Styles in the Backgound goup, and then select Fomat Backgound. C. Click the Hide backgound gaphics check box in the Fomat Backgound dialog box. d. Click Pictue o textue fill, and then click File to open the Inset Pictue dialog box. e. Select p04hlmem2.jpg, click Inset, and then click Close. TROUBLESHOOTING: If the ochid is not displayed, it may be blocked by the backgound gaphics. I Click the Hide Backgound Gaphics check box in the Backgound goup on the Design tab. f. Save the pesentation. STEP 6 CREATIVE CASE INSERT A PICTURE FROM THE INTERNET The couple went scuba diving in Cancun, Mexico, duing thei honeymoon so you want to inset a pictue of an undewate scene to end the slide show. You inset an image fom Image*Afte, a Web site that povides pictues fee fo pesonal o commecial use. Refe to Figue 4.25 as you complete Step 6. Hands-On Execises PowePoint 2O10

Right-click the link, and then select Open Hypelink to launch the Web site in you default bowse. f TROUBLESHOOTING: If you ae not connected to the Intenet, the hypelink will not wok. I Connect to the Intenet, and then epeat step b., The Image*Afte Web site displays the natue-undewate goup and shows thumbnails of images petaining to undewate views. C. Point, without clicking, to each thumbnail to see a bigge image. d. Click the thumbnail of you choice to display a lage image. Right-click the image, select Copy, and then close the bowse. 6. On Slide 7, paste the image using the Pictue paste option. f. Adjust the image size, depending on the size of the image you inset. g. Dag the pictue to position it on the slide, leaving the Image*Afte text box visible. The Image*Afte text box should be visible to give cedit to the image souce. h.
