5 GS - IDENTITY GUIDELINES - LOGO The Granville G: The 3 paths contained within the G speak to the narrative of the Granville Schools (GS) visual identity, as it relates to the context, mission, and pillars. The 3 paths in the mark help spark visual interest and compel the viewer to take a second glance. Some will see the G first and then the path, and others will see the reverse.

8 GS - IDENTITY GUIDELINES - LOGO Clear Space x To ensure visual impact, the logo in all it's variations, should contain ample clear space. All versions of the mark should be treated in a similar manner. At all sizes, use the height of capital G of Granville to estimate the amount of propper clear space needed. x When used in isolation the G should also include sufficient clear space. Use the width of the path to estimate the amount of propper clear space needed. x x

This harmonious relationship is fundamental to the GS sensibility. Substitutions should be avoided. Gordita: To be used in the logo and as the primary font for headers and subheads. Freight: To be used for body copy and supporting details. Examples of how the fonts should be used are outlined on the next page and throughout this document. 16 GS - IDENTITY GUIDELINES - COLOR Color Acceptable (high and medium contrast pairings) Pairing Illustrated here are examples of both acceptable and unacceptable color parings. The most important thing to keep in mind is contrast (or the difference in brightness of the design elements and the background on which they sit). Although there may be more combinations than what are shown here, It is ALWAYS recommended that you use the acceptable high and medium contrast parings. Unacceptable (low contrast pairings)

18 GS - IDENTITY GUIDELINES - SECONDARY ELEMENTS The Meaning of the Ace The Ace embodies excellence in character and work. The Ace does not encourage egotism or boastfulness, rather, it calls students to rise above indifference. The Ace does not necessarily symbolize a perfect score, instead, it represents a student whose heart and mind are devoted to learning for life. In the end, the results aren t as significant as the journey. The Ace As the mission of Learning for Life becomes the primary visual element for the GS identity system, the Ace will shift to a supporting role. Where the G mark symbolizes a commitment to lifelong learning, both inside and outside of the classroom, the Ace is a visual benchmark of excellence during that pursuit.
19 GS - IDENTITY GUIDELINES - SECONDARY ELEMENTS Alternative Arrangements The G + Ace combination and G + intialism marks can be used to supplement the main logo and help to add variety to the design. As mentioned previously in this document, all graphic elements should be given ample breathing room.

Adding a badge to a design piece can help increase visual impact and add variety within a project. They also work as stand-alone graphics for points of pride or merchandise. D E F It is recommended that new badges are created by graphic professionals with access to GS brand assets.
