1 Friendly, helpful website hosting & design FlexBanner Instructions Flexbanner Joomla Firefox 20.0 Although these instructions are based on the above programmes, they can be used for other installations because the process will be similar. Flexbanner Component Login to the Joomla Backend and navigate to Flexbanners Components>Flexbanners>Flexbanners

2 All sections must be completed before the component will allow you to add a banner. Sizes If you use standard banner size you do not need to use the Manage Sizes option. However if your banner is a non-standard size you should use the Manage Sizes option to define and name your size. Click on New and wait for a new window to open. Complete all the boxes and then Save.

3 You must define a location using the Manage Location option otherwise Flexbanner will not show on the Frontend. This just defines a location name. The Location Name is what you will need to use with the module. The name must be the same as the name defined in Joomla see Installation above.click on New and wait for a new window to open. Complete all the boxes and ensure the status is set to Published and then Save Links Banner links are added and managed from the Manage Links option. This allows a Link URL to be inserted so that when a banner is clicked on the Frontend of the site the customer is directed to the client site. Click on New and wait for a new window to open. Fill in the URL (eg for the banner and ensure the status is set to Published and Save

4 This allows for more than one client to be defined. Click on New and wait for a new window to open. Complete all the boxes and then Save. If you associate a Client with a Joomla user you can then use the front end display of statistics. Only that Joomla user will be able to see banner stats for that client's banners. This allows you to set more than one category for your clients. This allows for more than one category to be defined and clients set to a category. Click on New and wait for a new window to open. Complete all the boxes and then Save.

5 Once all the options are defined you can use the Manage Banners link to set up your banner. This draws together all the other information to define the banner, its image, its owning client, the link, the location and the size. Please note, every bit of information must be selected. It will not work if any of the information is missing. It also allows you to define where and when the banner should appear. If you put more than one banner in a location the module will show them at random on each page refesh. You should now see a banner appear on the Frontend of your site. If you use the Start Publish date you should set the banner to "Published: No". The component will set it to published when the start date is reached. >If you want to give your customer the ability to view statistics from the front end you can link the banner to a Joomla user. If you then create a menu link to the component the customer can view the statistics for their banners. >

6 Frontend Display of Component In order to allow your customers to view their banner statistics, simply create a menu link to the component. Module The module works like any other Joomla! module. The only thing to note is that you must choose the Location Name you defined above. Note! Content Restriction must be on or off in both the component and the module. If you turn it on in the module but not in the component the banner will not display. Installation Download the latest issue of the Flexbanner programme. Log in to the Joomla back end and select Extensions>Extension Manager Upon successful installation navigate to Extensions>Module Manager and scroll to Flexbanners.

7 Position Select a position for the banners to appear on the Frontend of your site. Status Publish the programme

8 Module Assignment Select one of the available options. If you are unsure, select the All Pages option, this can be changed at a later date.

9 Unless you complete the above 4 steps, Flexbanners will not appear on the Frontend of your site. You are now ready to add your first banner.
