1 Overview Person search is a navigational search that allows you to search for information in FamLink based on a person. From the search results, you can open the Person expando to view individual pieces of work for that person. All pages accessed through a person search display in read only mode. You can expand or refine your searches by using the Search Precision slider. The Search Precision slider has five settings: Low, Low/Med, Med, Med/High, and High. Setting the slider to High brings back only results that are an exact match of the name spelling entered. For example, if you enter the name Michael Smith and set the Search Precision slider to High, FamLink only returns results that exactly match the name as you spelled it. Set the slider anywhere from Low to Med/High and FamLink returns more results with variations on the spelling of the name, such as Michele Schmit and Michael Smith-Green. You can also perform a partial name search by entering the first portion of a name ( character minimum), then using an asterisk (*) to indicate a wild card. For instance, a search using Mart* entered in the Last Name text box would display members with last names such as Martens, Martin, and Martex. You can use the wild card character in both name text boxes (Last Name and First Name) in the same search. When you conduct a partial search in both name text boxes, the Search Precision slider is not used. Workflow Searches are not part of a particular work flow, and you can perform them at any time. 2 This is the FamLink Desktop, your starting point. There are two ways to initiate a navigational person search in FamLink: () On the FamLink Banner, click Search. - or - On the Search menu, click Search. Version: 05/09/202 Page 2 of 7

3 The Search page displays the Person tab. For a person search, the Person tab is the default tab on the Search page. If a person is a participant in a case that is restricted, only the assigned worker and individuals with appropriate security access can view anything other than assignments. You can conduct a partial search from the Last Name text box by using the asterisk (*) wild card character proceeded by at least one letter. Using the asterisk (*) wild card deactivates the precision slider. You can refine a name search by entering additional criteria or by using the Search Precision slider. 4 The minimum information needed for any person search is the person ID or the last name. To search for a person: 2 () In the Last Name text box, type the last name. - or - In the Person ID text box, type the person s ID. The unnamed text box after the City text box is for a city that is not included as a value in the City box list. For example, you could enter a city outside of Washington State. (2) Click Search. 5 You can also narrow your search by entering additional criteria, such as: The DOB From and To These text boxes allow you to search for a participant within a certain age range. To search for an exact date, put the same date in both boxes. Incl. AKA When this check box is selected, FamLink returns AKA names in addition to regular search results, based on information from the AKA tab on the Person Management page. Sort By This list of options causes the records returned to sort in alphabetical order, in DOB chronological order, or by city. You can use Last Name, Person ID, SSN, DOB From To, and Tribe/Band/Nation as sole search criteria. Version: 05/09/202 Page 5 of 7

6 The search results display in the Persons Returned group box. The results display in the same manner as the Desktop Outliner. An ICW Indicator icon will display before any person's name listed in the Persons Returned group box, if that person has a value other than None or Pending in the ICW Involvement group box on the Person Management ICW tab. For Tribal Workers, Person Search will only return results for a person who is a tribal person for a tribe that corresponds to a tribe selected in the Tribal Worker group box (without an end date) on the worker's Maintain Worker Information page.
