Selecting a GLB Use for Searches When you first filled out our application, you indicated your permissible purpose for all searches requiring a GLB. You will be asked to select your default GLB once more during your account activation. We recommend selecting the same GLB in both cases. You can change your GLB before running a new search. Make sure your new selection accurately reflects your reason for running that search. Updating/Resetting Your Password In the event you forget your password or are required to update it, you will have to go through the password reset process. You can start the process by going to the login page and clicking the red button at the top of the screen, labeled Forgot/Expired Password click here. Please note: For security reasons, your password expires every 90 days. 4 The Difference between Person Searches We offer 2 levels of person searches, providing you with the flexibility to run what you want based on your needs and budget. Below is a short description of our person searches and their best uses: Basic Person Search It is recommended that the Basic Person Search be used as a starting point for your investigations. This search is best used for: Obtaining full SSN & DOB (if authorized) Obtaining current & historical address information Verifying your subject's identity Platinum Person Search If you don't find what you need using the Basic Person Search, our Platinum Search should provide the information you are looking for. This is our premium Person Search, giving you access to the most up-to-date sources, with constant updates. This search is best used for: Obtaining the most current address and historical addresses Obtaining phone numbers Discovering possible aliases After running your Basic Person Search, you will have the option to search for the most current address on your subject, directly on the results page. This option is only available on records that return an SSN. Advanced Search Options Platinum Person Search We provide several advanced search options on our Platinum Search. With these settings, you can fully customize your search for the highest level of flexibility. Here is a short description of the options that you can use: Exact Match The search will return results on any record that matches your search criteria exactly. No variations of your subject will be returned. Nicknames (First Name Only) The nickname modifier will only apply to the first name of your subject. This is good for names with several variations. For example, a search with first name "John" may bring back records with spelling variations like Jon, Johnathan, Johnny, etc. Sounds Like (Last Name Only) This search option will bring back results for people with a last name that sounds similar to the one you entered. 5 Search Nearby When clicking on this option; a slider will appear prompting you to specify a radius between 1 mile and 950 miles. The distance is based off of a zip code, so a zip code is required to utilize this feature. Age Range Narrow down your results by searching a specific age range. The Best Ways to Search Less is More Using the less is more approach is going to be the most efficient way to search. As LocatePLUS looks for an exact match to what you enter, putting in the least amount of information possible is the most ideal way to search. By SSN As the SSN is unique to each individual person, searching by SSN is going to be the most efficient way to zero in on your subject. Partial SSNs cannot be searched. By Name If you do not have the full SSN on your subject, the next best option is by name. If you have a common name, such as Smith, Johnson, or Rodriguez, you will want to search by entering your subject s first name, last name, city, and state. If the subject s name is not as common, you can search by first name, last name, and state only. By Address Full Address, street, city, and state, are required to run a search by address. You can also use this option to search for PO Boxes. Consider omitting apartment numbers, street designations (i.e. Drive, Street, Lane, Road, etc.), and zip codes, as all three of these are often abbreviated differently or mistyped. By Name/Address & DOB Searching using this option gives you a wider range of search fields and combinations to allow you to target your subject. As the database searches for exact matches, you don t want to fill in all the fields. It is suggested to avoid entering the full date of birth, as this is one of the more commonly mistyped pieces of data. If you find yourself searching by name or address, don t fill out every search field! You will restrict the results that come back or you may get no results at all. 6 How to Run a Report There are 2 options to select one of our report packages. Here is a quick run-down of how the report process works. This button will take you to the free summary report. There is an option provided from the summary report to order a more comprehensive report. This button will allow you to select a report directly from the search results without going to the free summary report. From the image above: Step Step Step Select a Name/Alias from the dropdown, so we know who to run the report on. If you don t know which report you want to run, click the View Report Description button for a report comparison. If you are authorized for access to this data, this gives you the option to include MVR results in your report. If you don t want MVR, you can skip this step. Otherwise you have to select your DPPA Use and State. The option to order MVR is available for both reports Comprehensive and Comprehensive PLUS. Step Click the Buy Now button to purchase and run the report. You can also print your report. Remember, after running your report, you will be able to access it for 7 days in the "My Searches" section of the "My Account" tab. 7 Filtering Your Results (Person Search Only) There is an easier way to manage your Person Search results with our advanced filtering and sorting options. All Matches This filter displays all available results. It is selected by default when your person search is finished running. Exact Matches Clicking this button will only display results that exactly match your search criteria. Possible Matches This filter will display results that are possible matches to your search criteria. Show # Entries This drop down menu allows you to change the number of results to display on the screen. Search Results You can use this area to quickly find your subject by narrowing down the search results. Try typing a piece of identifiable information, like an address, SSN, age, name or phone number. When using the search function, you can only match the first 5 digits of an SSN, dashes are required. If searching for a phone number using the area code, you must include the parenthesis. Demographic Icons The icons to the left of an address will provide you additional information specifically for that location. Below is an overview of the data points each icon will give you. The House Icon The icon furthest to the left will give you estimated home value for that particular address. LP44_Rev 1.3_ CustomerService@LocatePLUS.com Page 7
8 The Map Icon The icon furthest to the right will bring up a map for the selected address. The Money Icon The icon in the middle will give you estimated household income for that address. Anytime our results provide an address, clicking the icons mentioned above are available to you for no additional cost. Just click on the icon to get the information. Hyperlinked Data You can easily run a new search without having to navigate through multiple pages! If an Address, Name, SSN or Phone Number is returned in one of our searches or reports, you will have the ability to click on that piece of information and select another search to run. If the data you are looking at is underlined and the color changes to red when you hover over it, you are able to click it and select a new search. LP44_Rev 1.3_ CustomerService@LocatePLUS.com Page 8
9 Quick Tips On every search page and results page, there is a box at the top of the screen offering specific information to help you through our searches. Search Page If you are on the search page, we provide a set of tips that give you information on the best ways to search. To view the quick tips simply click on the button. You can always hide the quick tip section by clicking the button. Results Page If you are on the results page, the quick tips are closed by default. You can view them by clicking the orange Quick Tips button on the top of the screen. Once opened, we tell you how to proceed with the next step of the search. Search Coverage At the top right of every search box, we include a button labeled coverage. Clicking on this will provide you specific states that are available for that particular search. Some searches only offer historical data, which is also provided in search coverage. Viewing Your Old Search Results After running a search or report, you are able to go back and view this information at no extra cost for 7 days. Simply click on the My Account tab to access previous searches. Searches that you have run after the 7 day limit will have to be re-run and will result in an additional charge. You can filter the list by searches run today, searches run in the past 7 days or by searches older than 7 days. You can rerun a search that is older than 7 days by clicking on that search entry in My Activities. 10 Case Manager With the Case Manager feature, you have the ability to easily organize the searches you've run based on your client or project. In addition to tracking, you can set custom prices for each search run. The image above was taken directly from the pricing section of the Case Manager. Each number corresponds with the numbers below. This column lists all the searches available. In this case, we ll say you ran a Death Records Search for your client. This column shows the price of a successful search a hit. This column shows the price of an unsuccessful search a no hit. This is the area where you can specify the price you want to charge YOUR client. In this case, you will be charging your client(s) $5.99 for the search. After pricing out all the searches for a particular case, you will be able to save the changes by clicking the save changes button, either at the top or bottom of the page. By creating cases for each of your clients, you can easily keep track of the searches you ve run, the cost of those searches and how much you want to charge. Once you have created a case, you can easily add searches directly from the search screen or from your search results.
