2 Setting up your account Visit Click LOGIN 2

3 Click Create an Account Enter your details Your username will be used to login to the platform. The address will be used to confirm your details and change passwords. Please ensure that you have read and agree to the End User License Agreement. 3

4 Please note that no credit card information is required during the setup of the platform. The platform will allow 30 days unlimited use before subscription prompts are given to the administrator. Setting up your organisation The system will now help you setup your organisation for printing. Your organization Enter the required information, all information is editable later though the management portal.the account will be used for billing and administration enquiries - if you are registering on behalf of an organisation a general address e.g. admin@k12-school.edu is acceptable. 4

5 Creating a printer map A map of your printers within your organisation is required to set up printing. A default map has been created for you, this shows a sample printer within a room within a property within a region within the organization. This is most simple organization structure possible, this structure is provided for maximum flexibility. It may be that your organization does not require all layers of this structure, however the system requires that at least 1 of each level (printer, room, property, region and organization) exists even if they contain placeholder (unused information). Creating a first print policy Directprint.io allows administrators to define policies to be applied to printers, rooms, properties, regions or organizations. Policies can enforce mono and duplex printing to save costs. You may define as many policies as you like. 5

7 Defining the first printer The system needs the connection details for the printers on your network. This is typically an IPP connection string for the printer or print server. e.g. Where is the IP address or hostname of the printer (replace with the IP address of the printer) :631 represents the default TCP port for the IPP service running on the printer or print server. And /ipp/print is the queue name for the printer, typically ipp/print but can vary according to printer manufacturer, please consult your printer s manual to find this information. You can use the free (single user) version of our basic extension to test and probe printers on the network to verify the IPP connection address. Please consult the help section of that extension for instructions on how to connect and test the printer. The free extensioln is available from the Chrome Store here: =en Modify the existing printer To modify the default printer created by the system navigate via the left-hand menu to Map view. 7

8 Click on the printer (Xerox 320) at the foot of the map/tree. This will bring up the printer details including recent activity, supply levels etc. 8

9 Click Edit printer This will allow you to edit the printer connection information. Enter your printer connection address and click Update. To save the printer connection address. Your first printer is now configured. The next step is to install the print client to your Chromebooks and push a configuration so that the clients can see the required printers. 9

Log into admin.google.com. Select device management Then select Chrome management: 10

11 Then select User settings from the main panel. Navigate down to Apps and Extensions and select Manage Force Installed Applications 11

12 Select Chrome Store from the application source selection. 12

13 In the search box type directprint and hit enter.. This will yield 3 search results Select directprint.io printing (the 3rd in the list) Select Add to force install this to all users within the Google Organization Unit Click Save (bottom right) Navigate back to Device Management -> Chrome Management and select App management from the main screen: 13

The directprint.io client may be configured to run in both User mode (where users log in with a Google ID) or as a Public Session mode where anonymous Internet access is provided.

In this configuration we will configure the client for User (login) mode. Select User settings from the directprint.io app configuration menu. Select/enable Allow Installation, Force Installation and Pin to Taskbar. 15

16 The final step to enable automatic configuration of print clients is to tell the directprint.io client which quickcodes to use. Uploading a configuration file The Google Admin console and directprint.io client is expecting a JSON (Javascript object notation) formatted configuration text file. The simple configuration file is formatted as follows: { } "QuickCodes": { } "Value": "xxxx" 16

17 Where xxxx can be a single quickcode or comma separated list of quickcodes that relate to printers configured within the system. Your full list of quickcodes can be found at: Simply edit the configuration file using text editor (e.g. notepad on windows, or Caret on Chromebooks ). Click UPLOAD CONFIGURATION FILE and select the text file that you created to upload the configuration file to the Google Admin Console. Within a few minutes the clients should receive the configuration file. Log out and log back in again if you have made changes to the config since the last time the user logged in. For unmanaged chromebooks Install the directprint.io client application on the target Chromebook from the Chrome Store. m_source=guide Start the directprint.io application from the applications menu Enter a quickcode to to receive the printer configuration click enter. The application should list the newly configured printers. Navigate to a document or other printable item and select Print or press ctrl-p to invoke the print menu. You should see the directprint.io specified printers in the print dialogue. Further information can be found at: 17
