5 1. PRESENTATION OF THE SOFTWARE CargoBoss 2.0 software receives the data coming from the system for processing the tankers' liquid cargo parameters, processes and displays them in the Windows graphical interface. CargoBoss 2.0 software can communicate with the following systems: TA 840-I for the first generation systems, TA3840C for the last generation systems. CargoBoss 2.0 software is composed of two applications: The database server, collecting the measurements transmitted by the system for processing the data, The graphical interface displaying the data and allowing to key-in the operational conditions. 2. GLOSSARY The list of the terms used in CargoBoss 2.0 is presented hereafter, with their explanation: TERM DESCRIPTION Display of the cargo tanks Distance Current raw distance between the radar flange and the free surface of the liquid product Raw Innage, Ullage With calculation from offset and zero line values, without calculation from the trim / heel values Corrected Innage, Ullage With calculation from offset and zero line values, with calculation from the trim / heel values Raw Temperature Average temperature calculated from the values measured by the transmitters User temperature Final measurement, possibly scaled for the user (factory pre-set) Absolute pressure Pressure sent by the transmitter of absolute pressure Gauge pressure Corrected absolute pressure according to the atmospheric pressure User pressure Final measurement, possibly scaled for the user (factory pre-set) Display of the ballast, service and miscellaneous tanks Raw pressure Hydrostatic pressure sent by the transmitter Scaled operating level Level calculated from the hydrostatic pressure, the density and the zero line. 6 3. QUICK MANUAL This chapter provides an overview of the way of operating the CargoBoss software. When started, your computer launches the CargoBoss 2.0 server. This server communicates with the electronic equipments that monitor the levels, temperatures and pressures of the cargo, ballast and service tanks of the vessel. The server also manages the alarms and the various calculations of the systems. Moreover, the server loads the last selected voyage, which define the list of products that are loaded in the tanks. The voyage also defines the expected quantity of products that should be loaded or unloaded. To have a graphical view of the internal state of the server, you have to open the CargoBoss 2.0 display. Double click on the CargoBoss 2 shortcut which is located on the desktop of your computer. This opens the CargoBoss display which starts communicating with the server, and gathering data. Once the CargoBoss display is opened, a set of operations may be performed: Selecting loaded products. The current voyage name is displayed in the title bar of the main pane. If the current voyage is not suitable, you may open another one, or alternatively create a new one (see related chapter). The voyage does not alter any other parameter of the software than the loaded products. It does not change alarm levels, operational conditions, and so on. The voyage feature is intended to replace the old cargo black boards. Monitoring levels and other parameters. This is the main feature of the CargoBoss software. Resize the main pane, navigate through the pages (by clicking on the rectangle buttons on the top of the window: Ship, Tanks, etc.), click on the tanks to display details, resize and move the details windows, make up your own pattern of windows. CargoBoss stores the position and size of the window for the next time you use it. Setting up alarms levels. Any parameter in CargoBoss may be controlled by four types of alarms (high high, high, low and low low). To set these alarms, simply click on the parameter, type the right password, check the boxes and type in the alarms values. On some parameters, you may also set levels by dragging the alarm arrows on the screen. When an alarm or a system fault appears, you may acknowledge it by clicking on it while pressing the Control key (Ctrl). All alarms are logged in the C:\Program Files\Honeywell Marine\CargoBoss2\log folder. Note that they are never deleted by the software, so that you may keep the logs as long as you need them. Printing reports. CargoBoss provides two kinds of reports: the cargo log and the voyage report. The cargo log is a summary of the actual load of all cargo tanks. When loading or unloading, simply create a cargo log before the operation, and another after. If you forget to print any report, you may retrieve it in the C:\Program Files\Honeywell Marine\CargoBoss2\log folder. The voyage report is a printable view of the voyage. Miscellaneous. CargoBoss provides some side features that are explained in the following manual: setting operation conditions, ship settings, creating products, managing passwords, changingthe vessel name, etc. CargoBoss 2.0 Technical Manual 6
7 4. VOYAGE A voyage defines the estimate status of the cargo at the end of an operation. CargoBoss 2.0 allows creating as many voyages as necessary. For each loaded tank, a product must be defined. The products and their characteristics come from the product library. This allows the calculation of the level measurement according to the current density of the product for the tanks equipped with hydrostatic pressure level transmitter. When the software is launched, the last voyage used is automatically opened. The name of the open voyage appears in the title bar of the main window, as file name *.voy. Create a voyage 1.
