3 General/System Installation Process SURFCAM Traditional 2016 R1 uses the new Vero installer which will install multiple components during the installations process. Since several component technologies are shared across server brands, they are installed individually. The installation will install: SolidLink The core engine for cad file imports CLS 2016 The license manager updated for 2016 Surfcam Traditional The required pre-requisites and Surfcam Traditional 2016 R1 Surfcam Migration Tool NOTE: The installation should only be started by running the StartHere.hta file included on the installation disk. Installing Surfcam through setup.exe will leave the installation in a non-functioning state. With the splash screen displayed, start the process by clicking Install Surfcam Traditional 2016 R1. 4 Functionality Support for Related Geometry Highlighting Selection of the Highlight Geometry option in the Operation Manager will highlight the geometry associated with a toolpath Wireframe and surface geometry will be shown Only single toolpath highlighting only is supported SURFCAM 2016 What s New Page 4 of 15

5 Enhancements to Printing Control Numerous internal enhancements have been made to the print/plot code for Surfcam Traditional 2016 R1 and those fixes show themselves in the updated Print dialog. New features include: Improved layout, tighter integration to default printer Orientation selection Margins support Print preview SURFCAM 2016 What s New Page 5 of 15

6 User Interface Updates Surfcam Traditional 2016 R1 introduces changes to the user interface to support high resolution graphics and icons. The default icon set has been replaced on a 1 to 1 basis to minimize the changes while providing an improved look. The legacy user interface can be enabled through a change to the SURFCAM.INI file if the user is uncomfortable with the updates. SURFCAM 2016 What s New Page 6 of 15

10 Crash Zoom Crash Zoom allows the user to place the mouse pointer over a desired area of interests and press the space bar. The screen will immediately zoom 10x around the location of the mouse pointer and maintain that zoom until the space bar is released. Additionally the command can be used as ALT-Space which will zoom to the location and hold the zoom state. 11 DSN File Support SURFCAM 2016 R1 reinstates a modified reader for the old Surfcam.DSN file. DSN data can now be brought into Surfcam and includes the geometric data and the ICD folder data containing the toolpaths. Geometry types are updated to the new file format and preserved whenever possible. Toolpaths may require regeneration, however they can be displayed, verified and posted without modification SURFCAM 2016 What s New Page 11 of 15

12 Dynamic Layer Highlighting When in the Layer Dialog is open and Dynamic layer highlighting is enabled, geometry on the layer underneath the hovering cursor is highlighted. This setting is controlled on Tools-> Options -> Display 2016 SURFCAM 2016 What s New Page 12 of 15
