1 Hardware What are the different storage capacities of the DiBos 8 models? DiBos 19 inch: 250GB, 500GB, 750GB, 1TB, 1.6TB Model SAP-No. 12nc 250GB 500GB 750GB 1TB 1.6TB DB06 C1 075 R2 F.01U DB12 C2 075 R2 F.01U DB18 C3 025 R2 F.01U DB18 C3 050 R2 F.01U DB18 C3 100 R2 F.01U DB18 C3 160 R2 F.01U DB24 C4 025 R2 F.01U DB24 C4 050 R2 F.01U DB24 C4 100 R2 F.01U DB24 C4 160 R2 F.01U DB30 C5 025 R2 F.01U DB30 C5 050 R2 F.01U DB30 C5 100 R2 F.01U DB30 C5 160 R2 F.01U DiBos Micro: 120GB, 250GB, 400GB Model SAP-No. 12nc 120GB 250GB 400GB DB06 C1 012 DL2 F.01U DB06 C1 012 D2 F.01U DB06 C1 025 D2 F.01U DB06 C1 040 D2 F.01U DB12 C2 025 D2 F.01U DB12 C2 040 D2 F.01U Can we later expand the internal DiBos storage space by swap or add hard drives? No. Is it possible to connect RAID5 hard disk unit? How many per DiBos? Up to 4 RAID subsystems (total max. 16TB) can be connected. For this a SCSI controller card (DBEK021 built in DiBos from factory, DBEK061 field upgrade) must be installed in DiBos units only if there is a spare PCI slot. All units with max. 3 internal disks or units with less then 5 grabber cards will have a spare PCI slot. Remark that if the RAID 5 principle is used, the internal disk can not be used for Page 2 of 20
recording. What is the max bandwidth of the onboard network card? 1 Gbit. What are the options to detect recorder failures? There is a malfunction relay as in DiBos 7. Additionally there is a tamper relay to notify sabotage and power fail. Are there still dongles involved in DiBos 8? Yes, various parallel-port dongles (DiBos recorders) and USB-dongles (DiBos receiver SW) are used for different versions and functions. At a DB 500GB, is that the total capacity available for recording data? 8 GB is used for Operation System and programs. The rest is available for recording. This is considered in the DiBos Storage Calculator. Can the DiBos Micro be installed in a 19 inch rack? Yes, rack ears are delivered with the unit. The unit should be placed on a fix rack shelf. Can we connect a keyboard (like LTC 8555) on a DiBos 8? No, this is not possible. Do we have the loop through capability on DiBos 8? Will these cables be delivered? Yes with DiBos 19inch these cables are supplied. At DiBos Micro there is no loop though capability. Possible is to use a T-connector and to switch off the termination. What is the intension to have an optional graphics card with TV output? With the optional TV out card (DBEK081) you can clone the VGA output on a standard PAL/NTSC monitor. This was introduced together with the full screen feature. Can a customer buy the grabber card separately? No, to increase the number of analogue channels please contact Bosch ST sales representative. The DiBos Micro D2 does not have a speaker inside, so the DiBos message sounds can not be heard (e.g. video loss)? From software version onwards there are four wav files implemented, so the sound can be heard via the on-board sound card and external loudspeakers. Page 3 of 20
These four wav-files (connectionok.wav, critical_error.wav, error.wav, jobbegin.wav) are located at C:\Program Files\DiBos\. They may be replaced by customer specific wav-files with the same name or may be deleted if the sound is not wanted. The 'Malfunction relay' supports only the function 'open the system' but the function 'DiBos software is not running' or the 'system is shut down' is not supported? In old DiBos 19 inch units the housing contact is wired wrong. This contact must be work as normally open contact, so if the housing is closed, the contact of the switch is closed, too. The bug is already fixed. 2 Software wrong: Pin 2-1 correct: Pin 3-1 DiBos Micro is not affected because there is no housing contact. 2.1 Operating System The DiBos system is occasionally asking for the XP professional installation CD and also for the XP pro Service Pack 2 CD? Normally the DiBos unit never asks for XP pro or SP2 CD, only if the customer is installing additional SW or connecting other components (e.g. printer) to the DiBos unit. The DiBos OS is a customized Windows XP version called Windows XP embedded enriched with multiple languages, additional drivers for printers, SCSI HBA, Page 4 of 20
ISDN/PSTN (Modem) card, RS232 extension card etc. Is it possible to avoid that the operator closes the software or switches off the recorder? What about Windows keyboard possibilities e.g. CTRL ALT DEL? In Windows user mode you only can log off but the application will startup automatically again. In Windows Administrator mode you can switch off the unit. How to get DiBos - DiBos connection running with enabled Windows Firewall? To get DiBos 8 to DiBos 8 connection running you have to configure the following exceptions in the Windows Firewall: ConnectionServer, DBServer, Port 135 TCP (DCOM), Port 135 UDP (DCOM), DibosExplorer, DomeCameraUnit, JobServer, VCSModule Restart both units to get the communication. 2.2 Live mode To get DiBos 8 to DiBos 7.5 connection running you have to configure the following exceptions in the Windows Firewall: DiBos 8: ConnectionServer, DBServer, DBServer_7x, Port 135 TCP (DCOM), Port 135 UDP (DCOM), DibosExplorer, DomeCameraUnit, JobServer, VCSModule DiBos 7.5 (SP2): ConnectionServer, DBServer, File and Printer Sharing, Port 135 TCP (DCOM), Port 135 UDP (DCOM), DibosExplorer, DomeCameraUnit, DomeCameraUnit8, JobServer, JobServer8, Netzwerk-Modul It is not possible only to except single ports as in DiBos 7.x with SP1 because we do not know which ports are used during the communication. Restart both units to get the communication. What is the exactly the maximum speed of display (number of fps) that we can see on the live mode on multi screen? This depends on the available performance and this depends on the the jobs running in the background, on the recording settings and on the amount of connected and displayed cameras. The maximum is 300 fps in total. What about CPU performance issue in case of multi-stream decoding? Recording is not influenced, live image display decreases. What can I do to prevent the following error popping up on a regular basis: Internal Database Error!? This error message appears if the database is full of protected data. Please delete Page 5 of 20
old data manually in DiBos > Playback mode > Recording > delete old data. Is there a back door entry for DiBos 8 available as I have a customer who has locked themselves out of Administrator log in? There is a special Registry key available at support in or in the RSOs. 2.3 Playback mode Do we have a global search of additional date (e.g. ATM/POS) like in DiBos 7? Yes. Can we playback video from remote DiBos? Can we playback in multi-sites (several DiBos simultaneously)? Yes, this is both possible; playback from multi-sites is not synchronised though, unless these DiBos units are synchronised. If we use the IP recorder software with IP cameras (encoder). Can we use smart search to retrieve the video? No, IP cameras do not send information of motion detection in the image yet. After activating display additional data in playback mode the selected image turns to black? This bug is fixed with version There is a delay in simultaneous playback of analogue and MPEG4 IP-Cameras? The only workaround known for this issue is changing the time on the DiBos system. This leads Windows to send a TimeChanged message to DiBos. DiBos react on this and resynchronize itself with the VCS devices. There are probably multiple ways to change the system time (without really changing the time). Here 2 examples: 1. turn on the time synchronization with a time server (disadvantage is probably the low frequency of the synchronization) 2. configure a Windows scheduled task to start a batch file every day at a specific time (e.g. 10:00). The batch file should set the time to 10:00 (with the command "time 10:00"). This will force a resynchronization of DiBos with the VCS devices every day at 10:00. The frequency can be changed by adding more scheduled tasks at different time (disadvantage is a time drift after a period of timer as it is not guaranteed that the scheduled task is executed at 10:00:000 but probably up to several hundred milliseconds later depending on the load of the system. VIPX1 playback of audio does not work? This bug is fixed with version Page 6 of 20
2.3.1 Export Can we playback DiBos 8 in WMP and Quick time Players? DiBos 8 can export to ASF format, playable in Windows Media Player 9 and higher. Note: To export in ASF format the DiBos has to decode MPEG4 and compress in ASF format. This may take a long time and with lots of cameras and hours to export we can see some performance problems. Can audio be exported with authentication? There is only video authentication. Is audio also exported when exported to CD/DVD? Yes in DiBos format and in ASF format. During export audio is also stored on the CD/DVD. Can we also export additional data (e.g. ATM/POS info) to CD/DVD? Yes. Which media can be used for export on CD/DVD? We tested from different manufacturers: - CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-R, - DVD+R (only one session!) Not released are DVD-RW and DVD+RW. Export of video by clicking on a search result list entry or the CD icon brings a message Export video could not be started? This bug is fixed with version DiBos Viewer Only black images are shown at DiBos Viewer? Check your PC s display settings in Control Panel > Display> Settings. To see the images configure 32 bit Color quality. Switch off the Hardware acceleration in Display settings > Advanced. Also check if the firewall does not block images by switching off the firewall temporarily. Page 7 of 20
2.4 Configuration Configuration wizard Drives How to allow the use of the C drive for video storage when using the DiBos 8 Remote Software? Create a new folder with the Windows Explorer in C: e.g. C:\data1 and share this folder (right mouse click on the new folder > Sharing and Security > in tab Sharing mark Share this folder ). In DiBos Configuration > Drives > map a New network drive > Folder: \\<Computer name>\<folder name> (e.g. \\DIBOS1\data1) > Finish. Mark the checkbox left from the new drive letter to select this drive for storage. Note: The total size of this shared folder cannot be reduced to a certain size at a Windows XP computer Video and audio connections What is the stored image size of network cameras and at what size is it played back? DiBos records any size: CIF, 2CIF and 4CIF. Playback possible at CIF and 2CIF. Playback at 4CIF (704 x 576) is not possible yet (planned in v8.1). Can DiBos 8 be used with logical camera numbers in order to combine with other products? We do not have camera numbers in DiBos 8 anymore. Every camera can be named as demanded. For AutoDome cameras we can configure any camera address that DiBos 8 should send in the Biphase protocol. Can camera numbers be renumbered with an offset so that DiBos 8 can be used in bigger applications to control cameras with Bilinx? No addresses in the Bilinx protocol necessary. What are the audio input and output volume levels. Line level, 1.0 Volt eff. Is it possible to connect VIP X2 and VJ8008 encoders? No, for the first release the DiBos 8 cannot manage multi-channels with one IP address. (planned in v8.1). Page 8 of 20
Can we have multi screen display on the analogical output of DiBos 8? No. Can we display an IP camera on the spot monitor output of DiBos? No. With Allegiant switcher protocol what kind of function can we have? You can e.g. switch cameras and program all kinds of commands in the configuration of the DiBos. Is Bilinx on DiBos 8 really bi-directional, e.g. manage alarm from Dome? No, in the first release only sending possible. Bilinx is just a one way communication from DiBos to the Bilinx device. Can we control PTZ of IP Products (like an encoder + AutoDome)? Yes, DiBos uses the transparent channel of an encoder to control the PTZ of IP products. Is the DiBos able to manage the multicast video stream? DiBos is able to receive and process streams of VCS IP devices, which are set to multicast-mode. DiBos itself does not support multicast mode as sender of video streams. There a point to point TCP connection will be established between 2 DiBos systems. How to get a MPEG IP camera working when the Windows XP firewall is used? To get images from the MPEG IP camera (e.g.vip10) with enabled Windows XP firewall you have to allow exceptions in the Windows firewall General tab and in the Extensions tab you have to add program C:\Program Files\DiBos\VCSModule.exe In default the Windows firewall is disabled. The Bilinx communication and commands between DiBos and Bilinx Dome cameras is lost sporadically? This bug is fixed with version Dome cameras from JVC and Pelco cannot be controlled from DiBos? Check the interface settings in the DiBos configuration > Dome Settings: - JVC TK-C676: 9600 / 8 / 1 / even - Pelco Spectra: 2400 / 8 / 1 / none - Panasonic WV-CS950: 9600 / 8 / 1 / none (the dome itself has to be configured manually by DIP switches). Dome commands are not forwarded to correct camera ID for Panasonic, JVC and Pelco Domes? This bug is fixed with version Page 9 of 20
Monitor A and B stop displaying sequences if passing midnight? This bug is fixed with version Recording settings What is the maximum speed of storage of network cameras provided it can supply 25 fps? 25 fps PAL, 30 fps NTSC. What is the lowest video sample setting which still allows audio recording? Audio is not related to video recording and gets an individual timestamp. Playback of audio is done in real time playback speed (1x) forwards only. Can audio recording be used without video recording? No. Workaround: Combine the audio recording with a not used video channel. When video loss is detected will audio recording then also stop? No, when video loss happens, audio recording will continue. How is audio recorded, embedded with the video or separately? It is recorded separately but in the same cluster on the hard drive. What is the impact of audio recording related to storage space used on the hard drive? 8 kbytes/s per audio channel. (Also see DiBos Storage Calculator) Time periods Recording jobs or relay jobs do not work in the correct time period? This bug is fixed with version Inputs and outputs Alarm processing Can we do motion activated recording using our MPEG IP encoders and DiBos 8? Is this set up at the encoder? Most of the IP encoder devices are able to detect motion and to give a trigger to the DiBos (to be configured in the encoder settings menu): Page 10 of 20
This trigger can be used to start a DiBos alarm recording (to be configured in the DiBos unit): enable motion IP camera, Page 11 of 20
configure alarm job triggered by motion, configure recording settings. Page 12 of 20
2.4.8 Remote stations Alarm transmission Export video scheduler Authorization levels Users Error forwarding Can an notification be sent based on motion (analogue camera / IP camera)? An notification only can be sent from DiBos if a malfunction is detected e.g. video loss (see installation manual for a list) but not in case of motion Options Security and network Administration and dongle How to save the configuration file on CD/DVD? Windows doesn't support writing on CD/DVDs without additional burning software. The Gear burning software delivered with DiBos is only working with DiBos export. So the CD/DVD cannot be used as a normal drive and files cannot be written on CD/DVD (besides DiBos export). To save the configuration file use a floppy disk or a USB memory stick. 3 Remote Access 3.1 Remote DiBos Does the DiBos receiver software exactly have the same possibilities as software on the DiBos unit? Yes. The receiver software, the IP recorder software and the software inside the DiBos unit are exactly the same. The differentiation is done by the dongle which enables e.g. IP channels. Page 13 of 20
Can we remotely configure the DiBos 8 and how? For this option we could use Windows XP Remote Desktop connection. Remote configuration via the browser or DiBos-DiBos-connection is not possible. Can a Remote Viewing Software have 2 way audio communication with a DiBos 8 unit? 2 way audio communication works with 2 DiBos 8 recorders. 1 way audio communication works from DiBos 8 recorder to DiBos 8 receiver. No audio communication is possible from DiBos 8 receiver (without grabber and I/O card) to DiBos 8 recorder. Take care that your network supports at least 1 MBit/s in both directions (transmit and receive). No audio capability on Browser connection. Can audio be played back remotely via the Remote Viewer? Yes. Can additional data (ATM/POS) be displayed during live on remote viewer? Not in live mode but you can see data at playback mode. How many simultaneous connections can we have with DiBos remote software on one DiBos? Unlimited, but performance will slow down if there are many connections. What kind of OS is required for DIBOS 8 remote station - DirectX must be installed on XP (by default installed, no specific version needed) - 32 bit color depth must be set (some graphic cards have problems with lower color depth) - some graphic cards doesn't support a HW based display of images. In this case the DiBos SW recognizes it and switch internally to SW based display. The SW based display has a lower performance (display is handled by the processor witch results in a higher load of the processor and a lower frame rate). Unfortunately there is no way to find out from a graphic card data sheet if the card will support the HW display or not. How to set up an ADSL connection between 2 DiBos units? On the DiBos Software: (1) Configure a remote station: Configuration > Remote stations > activate Remote station (DiBos 8 station), insert the public IP-address of the DSL Router (2) Activate UDP-Tunnelling Configuration > Security and Network > activate UDP-Tunnelling and choose Port Page 14 of 20
No. e.g.1150 (please check with netstat a that the port is not used!) On the Windows: (3) Configuration of LMHOSTS file in Windows: Create LMHOSTS file (without extension) with Windows Explorer in C:\WINDOWS\System32\Drivers\etc\, enter IP-Address (router Internet address) and computer name of the remote station. Description see in the existing lmhosts.sam file in the same folder. (4) Windows network settings: Default Gateway & Preferred DNS-Server = Intranet address of the own DSL- Modem / router. (5) Reboot the PC. On the DSL-Modem/Router: The DSL-Modem must be in the same network (Intranet) as the DiBos 8! (6) Configuration of the modem / router: Use default configuration from the provider / Internet access should work. Activate the firewall. Activate Port-Forwarding and forward the UDP-Port e.g to the DiBos 8 Intranet IP address / Settings of Port-Forwarding see manual of the modem / router. Note: The same settings (1 to 6) must be done on the remote side too. Page 15 of 20
A hardlock driver error message appears by installing the DiBos Receiver Software? This bug is fixed with DiBos version 8.0.2, the newest dongle drivers are included Alarm Transmission Is audio also recorded at remote viewer when incoming alarms are locally recorded on the remote viewer PC? No, there is no alarm video / audio recording in case of incoming alarms. 3.2 Web Browser How many Web Clients can be logged on simultaneously? Max. 3 users simultaneously. What are the possibilities with HTML Web Browser? Live, playback and search for additional data. Also status of inputs and relays can be seen, relays can be switched. See document Embedding DiBos 8.0 Browser Interface. On a DiBos connection via Browser running on Windows 2000 only white images are shown. Check your display settings (1027 X 768, 32 bit) and switch off the hardware acceleration in Display settings > Advanced or try another graphics card (at least 8 MB video memory). How can I make a DiBos IP recorder to become a Web Server? (1) Install Internet Information Services (IIS) Windows XP professional CD required. > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs > Add/remove Windows Components > mark checkbox Internet Information Services (IIS) > next > follow instructions (2) Install.NET framework v1.1 dotnetfx.exe required. > download dotnetfx.exe (e.g. from download.microsoft.com) > install (3) Configure Default Web Site in ISS > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services > Web Sites > Default Web Site > right mouse click > Properties > Tab Home Directory > Local Path > C:\Program Files\DiBos\Web\aspx > Application Protection > Low (IIS Process). Page 16 of 20
(4) Configure DCOM users > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Component Services > Component Services > Computers > My Computer > right mouse click > Properties > Tab COM Security > field Launch and Activations Permissions > Edit Default > Add user IUSR_<Computer Name> > mark checkbox Allow 4 times > Add user IWAM_<Computer Name> > mark checkbox Allow 4 times Page 17 of 20
finished. It is not possible to log on remote DiBos via Internet Explorer? Check if the Windows XP Hotfix MS (KB896688) is installed on the client PC. If yes, there is an additional registry key Fix MS reg to install on the client PC to fix this problem. What files does the web browser write to the PC when you make your first connection? Where are they located? The files are installed in the generated directory C:\Program Files\Common Files\Dibos8. After the download and unpacking of the cab file the ActiveX controls are registered in the registry. To get the latest files from the DiBos Server delete the directory mentioned above and additional the file C:\WINDOWS\Downloaded Program files\d8_loder.class. How can we change the HTTP port of the Web Server in DiBos? Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Internet Information Services local computer > Web Sites > Default Web Site > Properties > tab Web Site here the TCP Port can be changed. No live images are shown if browser connects via a different port than port 80. This bug is fixed with version Page 18 of 20
3.3 OPC What is an OPC server? OPC is OLE Process Control. A way to communicate to external devices with a similar OPC interface. The OPC standard can be found on the Internet (google.com). DiBos has standard OPC server functionality on board to communicate events and status to external devices. External devices can also send data to DiBos via the same principle to control functions in DiBos. See document DiBos OPC Server 3.4 Remote Desktop Connection Why and how to use a Remote Desktop Connection? The Windows Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) can be used to remote configure a DiBos unit. It is possible to connect to a remote DiBos unit from a local PC. You can connect to the remote DiBos as Windows User (mostly the default dibos user is logged in the DiBos unit). It is not possible to change the DiBos Windows User to a Windows Administrator from the local PC. (1) Settings on the DiBos unit: To be able to connect to the remote DiBos unit the RDC access must be enabled in the remote DiBos unit (Control Panel > System > tab Remote > mark Allow users to connect remotely ). (2) Settings on the local PC unit: > To connect to the DiBos unit click on the local unit Start > All Programs > Accessories > Communications > Remote Desktop Connection and enter the IPaddress of the remote DiBos. > To be able to download e.g. logfiles from the remote DiBos click Options>> and mark Local devices > Disk drives in tab Local Resources. > Click Connect > login as dibos user and e.g. check the DiBos configuration. > For downloading the DiBos logfiles open the DiBos Configuration > Security and network > Control panel, click on icon My Documents > Shared Documents > folder LOGFILES. Now the DiBos logfiles can be copied to the local drives. Mark icon Folders in the toolbar and copy e.g. to C on local computer. Please take care that DiBos software is still running when you disconnect the RDC. Note: With RDC only one user can be connected to the remote DiBos at the same time. Page 19 of 20
4 Others Can we upgrade a DiBos 7 to a DiBos 8? No. 4.1 Connection to DiBos 7 Can we control a DiBos 7 with a DiBos 8? Yes, you can control a DiBos v7.5. How can we record on DiBos 8 incoming video of DiBos 7? Not possible. There is no option of recording incoming live video or alarm video from DiBos 7. Recording live video of a JPEG IP-camera is no problem. Sporadically I do not get alarm images from 7.5 transmitter to 8.0 receiver? This bug is fixed with version Playback of DiBos 7.5 archives: I cannot change the playback speed in a DiBos 8 receiver SW? This bug is fixed with version An image from DiBos 7.5 recorder cannot print out at a DiBos 8 receiver SW? This bug is fixed with version I cannot export of DiBos 7.5 archives on DiBos 8 in DiBos format? This bug is fixed with version ST-VS/PRM4 Page 20 of 20
