Within the chapter you will be introduced to your DVTech system and the structure of this manual. About The DVTech DVR The most advanced Hardware Compression Digital Video recording system DVTech Systems offers the DVTech series that is based on proprietary firmware, unified system architecture, modern computer technology and data communication, integration experience and specific industry applications. DVTech Systems DVR Series offers the latest in digital technology. Models range from a four channel unit up to a thirty-two-channel unit. DVTech System s ability to select resolutions up to 704x588 and capture up to 200 images per second, allows critical information to be processed in an accurate and efficient manner. The DVTech series is available as a board level and available as a dedicated Intel Pentium based system. DVTech series will offer 3 DVR s ranging from 4 to 32 channels and the DVTech 200 can handle up to 32 cameras. The system s scalability allows a user to start off with a single channel and expand to 32 channels at a later stage. DVTech Systems DVR does simultaneous video capture, video compression, video audio recording, video motion detection, video monitor, event announcement and data delivery to remote sites (DVTech Control Center) in a custom defined order. DVTech Systems DVR is a fully programmable system that provides free alarm triggering and messaging; DVTech is a DVR featuring high picture quality with small file sizes due to its MPEG-4 Hardware compression format. The average size of a single frame of video is an incredibly small 1.5k, which enables lightning-fast remote operation and three to five times more storage time than conventional MJPEG compression. The DVTech Systems Series offers intelligent recording. Users can customise recording schedules based on their security and surveillance needs. The flexible set-up parameters allow users to record continuously or record only specified events. Targeted recording can be implemented by defining specific time periods and/or pre-and-post alarm recording by individual cameras.

54 12. THE REMOTE PROGRAM: The remote program is similar to the Dvtech local program, which are especially designed for the remote user. In this chapter you will find extensive explanations for those differences. For explanations of functions that are included in the Dvtech main program, you will be referred to the appropriate chapters in the Dvtech main program manual Ports issue - Ports In order to connect from the remote software to the Main software the user must open ports in the router on the Main system computer and router: Ways to open ports there are two ways of opening ports: 1. Full mode In this mode the user will be able to control ALL the configurations of the DVTech software. Enter the port number that the remote computer will connect to (The user must open 6 consecutive ports on the firewall, for example if you choose to open port number 9677, you need to open the ports ). 2. Minimum mode In this mode the user will be able to monitor the cameras and watch the recorded events, but the user will not be able to control and change the configuration. To set this mode enter in the Remote port field the port 80. Please make sure to open the ports before connecting from the remote to the Main system.

60 Video Stream Options because bandwidth issues DVTech developed 3 mechanisms to solve the problem Quality: Controls received video quality. Frame Size Full/ Half/ Quarter: Controls received video frames resolution. Quality and frame logics: Quality and frame settings affect the video frame rate. There is a trade-off between quality and received frame rate, that is, the greater the quality the lower the frame rate and the lower the quality the higher the frame rate Greyscale - Tick the greyscale box if you wish to receive streamed video information in black and white only. This feature will enhance the video streaming up to 30% faster Frame by frame or Video motion detects: 1. Frame by Frame In this mode all the cameras are sending frames to the DVTech Remote. 2. Video Motion Detect In this mode just the cameras that detect motion are sending frames to the DVTech Remote Reconnect Select this if you wish to reconnect to the main program

61 12.6 Remote Program Configuration Main The Remote Program Configuration The Main Screen is similar to the main program configuration screen, with the following differences. The main configuration in the Remote program is used to control user rights of accessing the program, only the main Administrator (not a user with admin rights) from this screen is able to Add, Delete and Edit users details. Restart Main - When pressed, this feature will restart the main DVTech program. This feature is useful should a fault occur on the main system or when changes are made from the remote program to the main program, which requires a restart. The bars which are turned off cannot be changed by the remote user. For more information please refer to the Dvtech main configuration chapter

62 12.7 The Remote Program Configuration Cameras Screen. The Remote Program Configuration Cameras Screen is similar to the main program configuration screen.
