7 Chapter 1 - Introduction I. Section 1 - Introduction The QC Workbench is an easy to use Windows application that provides the Technologist with a tool to edit and manipulate studies that need manual intervention of for the purpose of moving images to another series or study, splitting a series or performing other quality functions. It provides a higher level of data integrity in a PACS archive by providing a modality worklist capability to those modalities that don t have this DICOM service natively. The QC Workbench receives orders from a modality worklist server and studies from modalities via a DICOM store. It attempts to match order information with study information. If a good match is found, the study is forwarded to a DICOM Storage SCP, normally the PACS archive. Otherwise, it is held for a technologist to match it up before sending. These tools provide the following functions for manual intervention: Split a series Split a study Move an image from one series to another series Combine multiple studies Move a series to another study Move images to another study Move study to another patient Delete images from the series Delete images from the study Changes the order of the images in a study Change the series description Correct patient demographic information WARNING: This application can change data already stored in an archive, so it must be used very carefully and ONLY by qualified authorized personnel.
