You can download a free evaluation version of Xian Io from our website at: This download will allow you to test and evaluate a fully functional version of Xian Io for 60 days. Free technical support is provided during the evaluation period. Do I have to log in to download Xian?, you do. How many devices can I monitor with the evaluation license? You can monitor up to ten devices/servers with the evaluation license, if you would like to test more than ten devices on your Xian Io environment please contact sales at sales@jalasoft.com to request a special evaluation license. Can I install the Xian Smart Management Packs and start monitoring my devices immediately? No, in order to apply the policy templates and configure rules included in the management packs you need to install the Xian Io Console. 1

2 What does the one-year extended Software Service Agreement cover? The maintenance agreement includes access to patches and fixes as well as enhancements and new features at no additional cost. Technical support for one year is also included in the agreement. PRICING What is the licensing model for Xian Io? In order to purchase Xian Io, you will first require a Xian Network Manager Io bundle (fixed fee). The bundle includes all Xian server components. Additionally, you will require a Smart Management Pack License per device/sever you wish to monitor with our solution. How can I obtain the Xian Io price list? Is it required to have both a Root Management Server and a Management Server? It is not necessary to have both a root Management Server and a secondary management server to install Xian. Only the Root Management Server is required to run Xian. Can I install SQL, Xian and OpsMgr on one system?, you can install SQL, OpsMgr and Xian on one machine; however, it is recommended that SQL be installed on a separate machine other than the one Xian and the Management Server are going to be installed on. Can I upgrade from SP1 to SP2?. If you are planning to upgrade please request the recommended upgrade procedure to techsupport@jalasoft.com. Can I install Xian on Windows 2008? Can I install Xian on SQL 2008? Is Xian Io compatible with IPV6 IP Addresses? No (we should elaborate on this point) 4

5 Is Xian compatible with VSphere4? No How many devices can you monitor with Xian Io? The amount of devices Xian Io can monitor varies depending on how many rules you apply to these devices, how frequently the rules are executed and how many interfaces the rules are applied to. It is recommended that you only try and monitor up to 600 devices with one installation of Xian Io. Can I change the IP address of OpsMgr without affecting the Xian installation?, please contact techsupport@jalasoft.com for the correct procedure. Can I install Xian on a Linux machine? No, Xian can only be installed on Windows 2003 with SP1 and Windows 2008 Once I have imported the Xian Management packs into OpsMgr do I have to install the Xian Console to be able to monitor my devices\servers? and No, You do have to install the Xian Console to discover devices, apply and remove policy templates, configure rules and run a network scan task but you do not need to have the Xian Console open to receive and resolve alerts, view performance graphs and view the topology of your network among others. You can do these things directly from OpsMgr. Can you create your own management packs and monitoring rules? Not at the moment, we are working on including that feature in our next release. Can I create and customize my own policy templates? Can Xian monitor devices that are behind a firewall or in a remote location? 5

6 What is the difference between Tiers? Tier term in our price list is a sales term to differentiate large switches and the licenses they need to have. A layer 3 switch is the largest switch in the sense that it has more interfaces and nodes to monitor and therefore the licenses fall in the Tier 3 category. SNMP does not recognize the switching layer of a device so there are no specific rules for these devices in Xian. Can I have Tech Support assistance for more than 1 year?, but you have to renew the SSA agreement and because of the system we can only accept an order of 3 years in advanced of Tech Support. Does Xian support Savision Live Maps v4?, but if you want to do the upgrade you will need a new license from Savision. Can I add more devices to my existing license after I receive my permanent license? After purchasing the licenses, will they work after one year?, the licenses are permanent licenses which means that they are valid until January 1 st of the year The Software Service Agreement is the only one that has to be renewed every year. Does it affect Xian s performance if I am monitoring a larger amount of Servers directly through OpsMgr? and No. Resources are being used to monitor the servers in OpsMgr and as a consequence, fewer resources are being devoted to process the counters being sent by Xian Io. If you have a large amount of servers being monitored by OpsMgr it is recommended that you have a secondary management server o monitor your devices in addition to the management server monitoring the servers. 6

7 If I purchase Xian now will I still benefit from the next release? If you have purchased our software service agreement in addition to the Xian bundle, you are entitled to all upgrades and new releases free of charge for as long as the agreement is valid. 7
