2 Janus Access Control System Overview At business parks and residential security estates where access control is implemented, it is not sufficient to use a paper-based visitor s book, where a visitor can write misleading information. The Janus Access Control System intends to improve security and protect valuable property by an electronic scanner to scan vehicle license discs, drivers licenses and pedestrians RSA ID barcodes. This information is associated with a destination and stored in a computer to have at hand in case of investigations. Data can be searched and reports can be made. A person in control can be alerted of extraordinary events. Features: Management of vehicles and drivers entering and leaving scanning of vehicle disk, Driver ID. (Optional, if system configured) Enter reason for entry on the scanner. (Optional, if system configured) Management of contractors and their passengers entering/leaving. Management of regular pedestrians entering/leaving e.g. domestic workers, gardeners. Reporting, data searches, investigation. Alerts user of exceptional cases (e.g. unwanted person/vehicle, unknown pedestrian, etc ) Occurrence Book. Information obtained by scanners are encrypted and password protected to ensure visitors private information are not leaked to unauthorised persons. These can be hidden from operators as well.

System Requirements 1. Wireless escan TM scanners - each scanner must be programmed with Janus Driver software. Most sites will benefit from at least two scanners: one at vehicle entry gate and one at vehicle exit gate; or both at entry/exit during busy times. Optional scanner specially programmed to scan RSA ID barcodes at Pedestrian gate. Optional backup scanner - also to be used in very busy times. 2. Wireless router with IEEE B/G protocol as per escan documentation. Keep USB cables for: Backup in case wireless signals are disrupted; and Charging the scanners internal batteries from the computer. 3. Computer Requirements: Budget and Standard (also the Janus client in professional version) require PC with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 or Windows8. At least 2Gb RAM, 100Gb free disk space and Intel i3 type processor. Standard mouse, keyboard and screen. Printer optional (for reports). Janus Professional: Janus software is installed on a server. Server specifications depend on data volume. PC requirements for Janus Client software was given above. Janus Enterprise: Same as per Janus Professional, but database should be planned for high data volumes (may require full licensed SQL Server), and a permanent network connection to remote offices should be available. Janus is not compatible to run on virtual machines use on the native machine only. 4. Networking: Ethernet network cable is required between Janus computer and wireless router. Access from another computer on network is possible if the Janus installation on server is a Janus Professional Version; and the Janus Client software is purchased and installed on the remote PC. The said client PC must have network access to the server. Janus Enterprise requires a reliable permanent network between head office and branches. Remoting software such as Remote Desktop can interfere with Janus. Remote Desktop does not replace a Janus network installation - use remoting software for support only.

5 5. Database: All versions (except Janus Budget) require Microsoft SQL Server 12. Janus is provided with the free SQL Express, but clients with high data volumes, or clients using the Enterprise version must inquire from their database administrators about a full SQL Server licensing. The Janus Client software depends on SQL Server (Express) Client V12. The server must be enabled to allow remote client connections as per Microsoft SQL Server documentation (e.g. enable TCP/IP, Named Pipes; enable on firewall, SQL Browser). Note that SQL Server (Express) may have several other dependencies. These depend on your operating system, and installed service packs, and can therefore not be all specified or supplied with Janus. It is advised to link the computer(s) to the Internet during installation of SQL Server so that any dependencies required can be downloaded and installed. 6. Any networking/ /internet and/or GSM costs is for the client s account. 7. Support contract: monthly remote access to check that everything is OK; Turn-around time of 24 hours for most emergencies that can be solved by remote access. Reduced call-out fee rates.
