3 Step 1). Installation Install CloudBacko Home on your Windows or Mac machine. The following uses Windows machine for demonstration.

4 Double click the downloaded installer. Then, select Run in the dialogue box.

5 Click Next.

6 Read through the Terms of Use, accept the agreement, and then click Next.

7 Confirm (or change) the installation path, and then click Next.

8 If you have multiple Windows user accounts, and you just want the current account to be able to use the CloudBacko Home software, select Me Only. Otherwise, keep the default Anyone who uses this computer selection.

9 Review the settings. If no problem, click Install to proceed.

10 Wait for installation to complete.

11 Click Finish to launch CloudBacko Home.

12 CloudBacko Home will use your favorite social media to create a profile. Click Continue to proceed.

13 This screen will be shown, prompting you to input an Authorization Code. At the same time, a new web browser window will be brought up. See next page.

15 Choose your favorite social media to sign up to CloudBacko Home.

16 Choose your favorite social media to sign up to CloudBacko Home, e.g. Google Plus.

17 After logging into your selected social media account, this page will be shown.

18 Select the whole Authorization Code. Once your pressed Ctrl + C on your keyboard, your CloudBacko Home account will be created and the CloudBacko Home software will automatically display its front page.

19 This is the CloudBacko Home front page that you will see after signing up with your social media.

20 Step 2). Configure a new backup set, and trigger a backup manually A Backup Set governs the set of files and folders you wish to backup, and the configurations of backup related settings, including retention policy, encryption, storage destination, etc.

21 To configure your first backup set, click this button.

22 CloudBacko Home only supports File Backup. Enter the name of this file backup set, e.g. My-Home-PC-Backup.

23 Here are the shortcuts to some common folders that you can select as the Backup Source.

24 Or, you can click this link to open a File Explorer to choose the files and folders that you want to backup.

25 This is the file explorer, from here you can choose the files and folders on any local or mapped network drives to backup.

26 Now, click the Add button to add a new storage destination or destination pool. Destination pool is mainly for pooling multiple free storage accounts (e.g. Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon Cloud Drive, etc.) as a one big free cloud storage for backing up data to cloud.

27 You can create a Local destination first.

28 Select a local / mapped network drive and folder as the backup destination.

29 Click the Test button to see if this destination can be connected.

30 OK, the destination can be connected.

31 The local destination has been created. You can backup to multiple destinations to minimize the risk of data loss. Now, let s add another cloud storage by clicking the Add button.

32 Let s add Google Drive as the second backup destination. After selecting Google Drive from the dropdown list, click the Test button.

33 This screen will be shown, together with a web browser window

34 In the web browser window brought up by CloudBacko, login to your Google Account.

35 Click the Allow button to allow CloudBacko software connect to your Google Account.

36 Highlight and copy the code by pressing [Ctrl] + [C] on your keyboard.

37 Paste the code here by pressing [Ctrl] + [V] on your keyboard. Then, click [OK] to proceed.

38 Done. CloudBacko can successfully connect to the Google Drive account.

39 Now, we have 2 destinations, Local and Google Drive.

40 CloudBacko Home will backup to these 2 destinations sequentially, according to the displayed order. You can change the order of a destination by selecting the destination and then click the Up / Down buttons.

41 Here, you can define the encryption setting. The encryption is enabled by default. If you are backing up data to the cloud, please keep the encryption enabled. There are two encryption types you can choose. Default means the software will randomly generate a 256-bit full length encryption key for this backup set.

42 For Custom encryption type, you can choose to set your own encryption key, as well as other related settings by yourself.

43 Your first backup set is created. You can immediately fire a backup now.

44 After clicking the backup button, backup to all destinations will be triggered. When the backup to a destination has been completed, you can click this Report icon to read the backup report.

45 This is the detailed backup report the backup job to a destination.

46 Step 3). Configure other backup set settings Step 1 is a Backup Set Creation Wizard (although it is not mentioned in the interface). Not all the configurable settings are gone through during the backup set creation process. You can go back to the created backup set to configure other settings for a backup set.

47 To configure other backup set settings, click this Backup Sets button.

48 Select an existing backup set.

49 By default, 2 reminders are enabled to remind you to backup during Windows log off / shut down, or when your last backup is over your tolerance period. You can change the settings in this page.

50 To make this backup set run automatically, you can enable this Continuous Backup feature. Note: This feature is only available in Windows version. No Continuous Backup in Mac versions of CloudBacko Home.

51 Configure the backup frequency, e.g. 5 minutes.

52 Set the applicable file size, e.g. Unlimited for applying Continuous Backup to all files in your backup source.

53 By default, retention policy feature is enabled and is set to keep deleted files (or different versions of independent files) for 30 days. That means: 1). if a file is deleted in your backup source, your backup destination will still have this file within 30 days of deletion; or 2). if a file is not deleted by is being modified everyday, the versions in the last 30 days can be restored.

54 If you can t select a preferable value from the dropdown menu, you can type in your preferred value into the field.

55 Temporary Directory is for CloudBacko software to do intermediary works before and after backup.

56 Volume Shadow Copy is a Windows specific features for backing up those files being opened when backup is running. By default, this feature is enabled.

57 Step 4). Restore backup data if your machine is not crashed If your machine is not crashed, and you want to restore some data which have been accidentally deleted, or are lost due to other reason, you can simply click the Restore button to restore the backed up data from one of your backup destination. If your machine is crashed, follow the steps in Appendix 1 to transfer your CloudBacko software to a new machine, and then restore the backup data from your backup destination.

58 To restore data from a backup destination, click this Restore button.

59 Click on an existing backup set.

60 Select one of your backup destinations to restore from.

61 By default, the first dropdown menu is set to Choose from files as of job. With this option, you can select the time of backup to restore. Usually, you would just want to select the latest date and latest version to restore.

62 After the point in time to restore is selected, in the file explorer, it will show the files and folders with versions at that point in time that are available to restore.

63 Here, you can choose to restore the data to their Original location, or Alternate location.

64 Normally, you would want to restore to an alternate location first to check if the restored files are what you want, and then move to your preferred location. For restoring to Alternate location, specify the path by clicking the Browse button.

65 Specify a temporary directory for the software to do some intermediate calculation. Then, click the Restore button to start restoring data.

66 Wait for the restoration to complete, and the data will be available in your specified restore folder.

67 Step 5). Read the reports CloudBacko Home provides you with Backup, Restore, and storage Usage reports that you can check within the software.

68 To read CloudBacko s reports, click this Report button.

69 Each row contains 1 report for a specific job, e.g. a backup job. You can click on each row to view the backup job s summary.

70 This is the expanded summary view of a row. You can click the View log button to view the detailed log for this job.

71 This is the detailed log of your backup job.

72 This section contains the Restore reports.

73 This section contains the storage Usage reports. You can select a destination, a backup set, and the time period to check the storage usage.

74 Step 6). Privacy lock To prevent others from viewing and changing your software configurations when you re away from your computer, you can enable the Privacy Lock feature.

75 To enable Privacy Lock, click this Settings button.

76 In the Privacy Lock tab, enable the the Privacy Lock feature.

77 Enter your password of your Privacy Lock.

78 Once entered the password, the Privacy Lock feature is enabled. You can always come back to disable it if you want.

79 With the Privacy Lock enabled, whenever you open the CloudBacko Home software, you will need to enter your password. Please keep your password securely. If you forget it, you can no longer login to your CloudBacko Home account.

80 Appendix 1). Restore data if your machine is crashed If your original machine is crashed, you can restore your backup data from a new machine through these steps: 1. Go through Step 1). Installation of this guide on your new machine. Make sure you choose the same social media account to sign up to CloudBacko Home. 2. Once connecting with the same social media account, your backup set will be readily available and you can choose to restore the backed up data from your backup destinations.
