Once you upgrade to ServerXchange 3.1.4, you must ensure that you only deploy WEBppliance (or later) from the ServerXchange platform, as earlier versions are not compatible. 2 About ServerXchange ServerXchange is a patch release for ServerXchange 3.1 that provides the following new features. Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) support for Windows 2000 KickStart Kernel update to handle local denial of service issue Kernel update to support Adaptec 3200 SCSI RAID controllers Spanish language support for Customer Account Manager (CAM) New look and feel for the online Help system Patch specifications Product version associated with patch: ServerXchange Patch ID: Keywords: Spanish Web browser requirements To access and use ServerXchange you will need one of the following Web browsers with cookies and Java scripting functions enabled. Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.5 and later Netscape, version 4.7 and later Note: The user interface is best viewed in Microsoft Internet Explorer, version 5.5 and later at a 800 X 600 screen resolution. 3 New features of ServerXchange This section lists the new features of ServerXchange Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3) support for Windows 2000 KickStart The ServerXchange Windows KickStart disk installs Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 (SP3). Windows 2000 SP3 is a recommended upgrade and includes the updates contained in Windows 2000 Service Pack 1 (SP1), Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 (SP2), and Windows 2000 Security Rollup Package 1. Kernel update to handle local denial of service issue A vulnerability in the Linux kernel caused non-root users to potentially freeze the system. The updated kernel addresses the vulnerability. Kernel update to support Adaptec 3200 SCSI RAID controllers The kernel has been updated with a fix to support the Adaptec 3200 SCSI RAID card and other cards based on the DPT I20 chipset. Spanish language support for Customer Account Manager (CAM) The Spanish language support for Customer Account Manager (CAM) expands on the existing language set of English, German, and French. Each localized user interface includes a corresponding localized version of the online Help system. New look and feel for the online Help system The customized colors, buttons, and fonts provide a new look and feel for the integrated online Help system. 4 Resolved issues of ServerXchange ServerXchange resolves the following issues evidenced with previous versions of ServerXchange. The Windows KickStart disk has been updated to install Windows 2000 SP3, instead of Windows 2000 SP2. (20093) The kernel has been updated to handle the issue with local denial of service. (20102) The MultiTenant Server kernel has been updated to prevent upgrade failures during large distribution upgrades for Private Servers. 5 Installing ServerXchange This section includes instructions on installing the patch. Before you install Before you install ServerXchange 3.1.4, verify that you are using ServerXchange If you are using an earlier version of ServerXchange, you will need to upgrade to version Refer to the guides at for more information. Step 1: Backing up ServerXchange Step 2: Obtaining ServerXchange from AppXchange Step 3: Installing ServerXchange Step 1: Backing up ServerXchange Obtain a recent backup of ServerXchange before you begin the upgrade process. 6 Step 2: Obtaining ServerXchange from AppXchange You are now ready to obtain the latest version of ServerXchange (version 3.1.4) from AppXchange. Procedure: To obtain ServerXchange from AppXchange: 1 Connect to AppXchange. In the Links area, click AppXchange. or Click Administration on the left navigation bar, click the Maintenance tab, and under the Registered Patches list, click Connect to AppXchange. 2 Enter the AppXchange user name and password assigned to you by Ensim, then click Log in. The Ensim AppXchange interface opens in a new browser window. 3 In the ServerXchange Patches area, click View. The list of patches available for ServerXchange are displayed. 4 In the Select column, select the ServerXchange Patch check box, then click Add selected items to cart. 5 Click Download to download the selected patch. 6 Review the license agreement, then click Agree. The selected files are downloaded. Action information and a progress report are displayed. 7 When the action completes successfully, click Done below the progress report, then log out of AppXchange by clicking Logout in the upper right of the home page. Alternatively, you can log out of AppXchange before the download is complete, and continue to check the download status using the login provided by your Service Provider. Click Status, then click Action Log to view the download log report. Once the download is complete, you are ready to install ServerXchange ENSIM SERVERXCHANGE RELEASE NOTES/UPGRADE GUIDE 6

7 Step 3: Installing ServerXchange You can now install ServerXchange Procedure: To install ServerXchange 3.1.4: 1 Verify that ServerXchange is not performing any other operation. ServerXchange will not start the installation if other operations are active. To review a list of in-progress operations, click Status on the left navigation bar, then review the action log for entries that have a green dot. The green dot indicates that the action is running. Wait for the action to complete before you proceed to step 2. 2 Click Administration on the left navigation bar. 3 Click the Maintenance tab. You will find all patch downloads in the Registered Patches list. 4 Click in the Action column of the Registered Patches list. Confirming the installation ServerXchange shuts down temporarily while it applies the patch and restarts when the process is complete. When done, confirm the installation by accessing the Upgrade page, Component Versions list, and checking the version number that displays next to ServerXchange.
