1 Instructional Technology Services Google Drive Faculty Help Topic: Google Drive Google Drive is a file storage and synchronization service provided by Google which enables user cloud storage, file sharing and collaborative editing. Google Drive is now the home of Google docs, a suite of productivity applications that offer collaborative editing on documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and more. Google Drive gives all users 5 GB of online storage space to start with. A user can get additional storage from 25 GB up to 16 TB through a monthly subscription plan ($2.49 USD per month for 25 GB).Upload photos, videos, documents, and other files that are important to you to Google Drive. -Go to -If you have a Gmail Account, enter your , Password and Click Sign in. -Otherwise, Click Create an account Required information for Google account: Enter your first name and last name Enter your address in the address field. 2 Enter your Birthday. Select your Gender. Enter your mobile phone number. Enter your current address if you have one. Select your location. Click I accept. Create my account. ITS Google Drive Page 2 Last Modified: 9/19/13
3 Go to: Enter your , Password and Click Sign in. Create New Folder Create and organize your files by storing them into folders. In the Google Drive Home screen, Click CREATE. Click Folder. Enter the Folder Name. Click Create. ITS Google Drive Page 3 Last Modified: 9/19/13
4 The Folder appears in My Folders list. Uploading Files You can upload files up to 1024 MB. From the Google Drive Home Screen, click the Upload button just next to the CREATE button. Select Files. 5 Creating a New Document: In the Google Drive Home Screen, Click Create. Click Document. Google Drive allows you to create a word processed document. Edit Menu: Use the Edit Menu to: Cut Copy Paste Redo Undo ITS Google Drive Page 5 Last Modified: 9/19/13
6 Insert Menu: Using Insert Menu you can insert: Images Links Equations Header Footers ITS Google Drive Page 6 Last Modified: 9/19/13
7 Format Menu: Format your document using the tools in the format menu. Tables: Use the Tables menu to insert Tables. Publishing Document: From the Menu bar, Click File then Publish to the Web. After, click on Start Publishing. ITS Google Drive Page 7 Last Modified: 9/19/13
8 Then, your link will be generated and you just need to copy the link to send to the people you want to access the document. Downloading the Document: You can download the document in various formats: ODT PDF RTF Text Word HTML (Zipped) ITS Google Drive Page 8 Last Modified: 9/19/13
9 Deleting Files/Folders To delete a folder of file in Google Drive right click on the file/folder then click Remove. To restore a deleted file/folder On your Google Drive home screen Click on Trash. Then, select the file/folder you wish to restore then click Restore from trash. Sharing Files/Collaborate Google Drive allows users to share their files with friends, family, employee and other people. ITS Google Drive Page 9 Last Modified: 9/19/13
10 To share a file: Right click on the file or folder you wish to share then select Share. If you wish to share the link of the file to people click on Share. If you wish to the file to different collaborators select collaborators but if you would like to send it as an attachment select as attachment. If you decide to share the file a link will be generated automatically to allow you copy the url link to send to people you want access your file.
