1 Google Slides Cheat Sheet This is what you will see when you log into Slides. 1 Slides consist of 4 sections. Knowing how each section works will save time and increase productivity Section 1 is your menu bar where you will find your slide tools, comment button, and sharing button. The menu bar has many hidden features that I will explore in detail below. 2 Section 2 is your left side bar. This allows you to switch from slide to slide. 3 Section 3 is your main page. This shows what your current slide looks like and where you will make changes to each slide. 4 Section 4 is your right side bar. This bar will change depending on whether you are looking at themes, transitions, or research.
2 Section 1: Menu Bar This button will return you to all of your Slide files. Give your Slide a title here. Do this first when you create a new Slide. This will allow you to move your Slide to a certain folder in your Drive. File Edit View Insert Slide Format Arrange Tools Table Help Menu Tools New doc, slide, or sheet, make a copy, import, download, page and print settings Basic edit functions, cut, copy, paste Presentation, animations, zoom settings Text, image, link, video, word art, slide numbers, comments New slide, duplicate slide, slide options Fonts, lines, spacing Objects on the slide Spelling, research, define Table functions, if inserting/using a table Search for help topics Slide Tools Allows you to add a new slide. You can also get a shareable link and set whether the person can view or edit the slide show. This is the tool to use for studentto-student collaboration and teacher-tostudent collaboration. I always have students share their projects with me first.
4 Section 1: Menu Bar Continued The insert video command will open a YouTube box. You can now search YouTube for a video, select a video and place it in your Try to keep your video less than 5 minutes. To add a video, first preview the video by clicking on one. Pay attention to the run time that each video shows. Add the video to your presentation by clicking Select.
