3 1.0 INTRODUCTION These instructions will reinitialize a UNIPOWER controller by setting the IP address back to factory default ( subnet ), reset Password 1 to 111 and Password 2 to 123 (also factory defaults). The SNMP will also be activated after reset. Reinitialization will not affect any other settings including Site name, serial number or calibration values. The following items are required to perform the procedure: 1) Serial Cable 9-way D female to 9-way D male, with pins 2-2, 3-3, 4-4, 5-5 connected and optionally a USB to Serial Converter (must be FTDI type) if the computer does not have an RS232 port. 2) A Windows 7 computer. For configuration for other versions of Windows, please consult the factory. 3) Java Runtime Environment (jre7) installed on computer. 4) An Ethernet crossover cable. 5) The software package included with this document contains: a) The executable program runs from a batch file in the zip folder supplied with this document. Instructions on installation are provided in later steps. b) Folders SW3.05, SW4.03 & bin (These are Flash image file: v6.tbin. There are two versions of this in separate folders. The correct one must be used depending on which software is already present in the controller.) c) Batch file DOFTP. d) Program file V6.tbin. Page 3

4 2.0 PROCEDURE 1. 2 zip files are required. One zip file contains the files to be uploaded to the UNIPOWER equipment and the other is an application to do the upload. 2. Unzip the contents of the file called Controller Reset files.zip to a known location on the computer. 3. Move the folder called tempx (and its contents) so it is a sub folder of the root of the computer. 4. Unzip the contents of the file called Javakit Files.zip to a known location on the computer. 5. Move the folder called Javakit (and its contents) so it is a sub folder of the root of the computer. Page 4

5 6. Certain files have to be copied to other directories on the computer to ensure the Javakit program runs correctly. 7. The files comm (Jar file) and win32com.dll need to be copied to the bin directory of jre7. For default installation of jre7 the full path is: C:\Program Files (x86)\java\jre7\bin. Page 5

6 8. The file javax.comm.properties needs to be copied to the lib directory of jre7. For default installation of jre7 the full path is C:\Program Files (x86)\java\jre7\lib. 9. Connect the computer to the controller/system using the serial or USB converter cable. The controller/system may be left in a powered state. The power system should continue to supply power during the reinitialization process. 10. Connect a crossover cable between the computer and the controller. 11. Set the computer IP address to Page 6

7 12. The program is launched by the Windows batch file JAVAKIT.See screenshot at step 5. A shortcut to the desktop can be made for ease of use. 13. Run JAVAKIT batch file. 14. From the pull down menu at Port Name, choose the serial COM port connecting the device (you may need to check in the Windows Device Manager as to which COM port has been assigned if using a USB to Serial converter). 15. Check/choose baud rate speed to be Select > Open port 17. Select > Reset Page 7

8 18. The BOOTLOADER message should appear. 19. Goto File > Load File 20. Change, if necessary, file type to TBIN. 21. Navigate to the tempx folder. 22. Choose the file called slush_400.tbin from the tempx directory. 23. Press OPEN. 24. Loading of this file to flash memory will commence. Page 8

9 25. A message Please wait (ESC to abort.) will appear wait for Load complete. message. 26. Type E and press return. 27. The Slush Operating System should now boot up. 28. Once booted, press enter and then username as root and password is tini to log in. (note The password tini will not appear on the screen.) Page 9

10 29. Now type ipconfig a m to temporarily configure the network settings. 30. Message OK to proceed? (Y/N) will appear. 31. Type Y (return not required) Page 10

11 32. Now open a command prompt window in Windows. In that window, change to the directory containing the controller reset software package (tempx). Type doftp. This will run a batch program that will FTP the reset program to the controller. Note that it may be necessary to enable FTP access through the firewall. 33. In JavaKit window, type ls l. The reset.tini program should appear in the listing. Page 11

12 34. In JavaKit, type java reset.tini. This will run the reset process program. Some status messages will show up to indicate the process. If controller has serial number as shown above then use v6t.bin and image.bin files from the 3.05 folder. Page 12

13 If controller has serial number as shown above then use v6.tbin and image.tbin files from the 4.03 folder. 35. Importantly the serial number will be displayed. This is used to determine the version of firmware to be reloaded later see step In JavaKit, Goto File>Load File 37. Change file type to TBIN. Page 13

14 38. It is important to reload the existing firmware version. The selection must be assessed from the serial number reading (step 34). If the V3 read serial number displayed has leading spaces then choose v6.tbin from the 4.03 folder, otherwise load the V6.tbin from the 3.05 folder. If you are unsure consult UNIPOWER factory before proceeding. Getting this WRONG will corrupt some of the settings and the system will need to be recalibrated. 39. WAIT until Load complete appears. 40. The controller application will be reloaded. 41. In JavaKit, Go to File>Load File 42. Change file type to TBIN. 43. Choose image.tbin from either the 4.03 folder or 3.05 folder depending on the original software that was in the controller. 44. WAIT until Load complete appears. 45. Once complete, type E to restart the controller. Page 14

15 46. The Com port can be closed and the controller Serial cable can be disconnected. Reinitialization of the controller is now complete.
