Viper 4 Product Control ISOBUS PRODUCT CONTROL Navigate to the VT panel. From here, go into the Tools menu. Tools 1. CONFIGURE THE EQUIPMENT SETUP. Set the type of applicator you are using then proceed through the section setup wizard. 2. CONFIGURE PRODUCT CONTROL. Set the control type (liquid, granular, etc.), valve type, and then enter all applicable calibration values (Valve Cal, Meter Cal, etc.).

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup Raven Technical Service strongly recommends that you have the most up to date software on your Viper 4. The information provided in this article may not be accurate for software versions prior to 2.1. When using bin chaining, a Close type control valve (Fast Close or PWM Close) must be used. Other valve types will cause over-application. IMPORTANT: PRODUCT CONTROL SETUP TIME TO APPLICATION For each bin being controlled, the Time to Application value is important. When this number (in seconds) is entered in for each bin, it will allow the Viper 4 to factor for the time it takes product to exit the bin (onto the chain/belt) to when it leaves the applicator (spinner or boom). Measure the amount of time it takes the product drop from each bin onto the chain/belt to when it leaves the applicator. By doing this, the bin chain can be configured to have the bins operate in any order without causing gaps in application rates. DETERMINE THE AUTO ADVANCE METHOD The Advance Method does not get set until you start a job and configure the bin chain, certain settings need to be configured in order for an automatic advance method will work. There are three options for advancing links in the chain: 1. Bin Level Sensor 2. Empty Tank/Bin 3. Low Tank/Bin Important: The following alarm settings will need to be configured for each product that will be in the chain.

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup Option 1: Bin Level Sensor The Bin Level Alarm must be enabled in order for the chain to advance based on the bin level sensor. Option 2: Low Tank/Bin The Low Tank/Bin option relies on the Bin Level and Bin Capacity as well as the Low Tank Volume alarm. In order for this method to work properly, the bin level will need to be reset to the max capacity value whenever the bins are refilled.

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup Option 3: Empty Tank/Bin The Empty Tank/Bin option relies on the Bin Level and Bin Capacity. In order for this method to work properly, the bin level will need to be reset to the max capacity value whenever the bins are refilled. SETTING UP PRODUCT CONFIGURATION MIX PROFILES When naming particular mix profiles within a product configuration, the Mix Name is very important. If the Mix Name for one mix profile matches the Mix Name for another mix profile in the same product configuration, these mix profiles will automatically be chained together when starting a job. For example, in a common twin-bin setup, "Blend" will automatically chain with "Blend." If you do not want these mix profiles to chain automatically, you can either give them different names, or you can disable the automatic chaining when starting a job. The Display As field will default to the first four letters of the Mix Name. This can be changed as desired. This Display As name will be what appears in the job. Be sure to be as exact as possible with the Current Weight. This will determine the percentages used when using bin chaining.

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup STARTING A JOB When starting a job, the mix profiles in the product configuration may or may not be chained already depending on whether or not the Mix Names match. To configure bin chaining, select the chain icon (below) to go to the Bin Chain Management screen. Note: The chain icon will be green if the products have automatically chained together due to them having the same mix profile name. If you wish to make changes to the bin chain, place a check mark next to Manual Group (upper right corner). To delete (disable) the chain, select the desired bin chain, then select Delete, or you can select Clear All to remove all bin chains. SETTING UP BIN CHAINS When setting up bin chains, keep in mind that each product may only be used once. Also, Manual Group must be enabled to make any changes. Helpful Info: When new to bin chaining, it can be confusing to know what to set as a Chain and what to set as a Link. Here are example setups for a twin bin machine with 1 ingredient and for a 4 bin machine running 2 ingredients. Twin Bin Machine with 1 Ingredient Chain Name: Urea Bin 1 node/product channel is Link 1 Bin 2 node/product channel is Link 2 4 Bin Machine with 2 Ingredients Chain 1 Name: Urea Bin 1 node/product channel is Link 1 Bin 2 node/product channel is Link 2 Chain 2 Name: DAP Bin 3 node/product channel is Link 1 Bin 4 node/product channel is Link 2

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup Create a new chain Add a product to a link in the chain Remove a product from a link Must be enabled Add a link to the chain Select only ONE Remove a link from the chain Creating a Chain Adding a Link or a Product to a Link* The Bin Chain Name will default to the Primary Product name. This can be changed as desired. The Bin Chain Short Name is what will display in the job. This defaults to the first 4 letters of the Primary Product name, but it can also be changed as desired. * If the product you wish to make a link or add to an existing link does not display in the Product dropdown list, disable the filters for Product Mix Match and Boom Select Match. Rate Percentages will be based on product volume/weight. For instance: Product 1 has 3000 lbs and Product 2 has 2000 lbs. o Product 1 = 60% o Product 2 = 40%

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup HOW TO KNOW WHICH BIN IS APPLYING The Bin Chain Status widget may not automatically change the text for the node/product channel for the bin on the widget. It also may be difficult to read while operating the machine. An easy way to tell which bin is applying is to place a Pump Switch widget for each node/product channel for the bins. The status will change automatically when the chain advances the bin. Bin 1 Applying Bin 2 Applying Bin 3 Applying

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup WHEN THE PRODUCT RUNS OUT After the chain has advanced through all of the bins (the alarms from the Advance Method have been met for each bin), there are three options for what the Viper 4 will do next: 1. Shutdown Chain 2. Start Cleanout 3. Delayed Chain Shutdown To set this action: Press and hold on the Bin Chain Status widget while in the job Note: The Action Upon Completion must be selected before any of the alarm statuses are met for any of the products. If this is changed after any of the products have met their alarms, this will not function properly.

Viper 4 Granular Bin Chaining Setup REFILLING PRODUCT If the machine runs out of product during a job and then gets refilled, the bin chain must be reset to start with the first link in the chain (the original chain order). If this does not get changed, the Viper 4 will apply product using the last link in the chain and then shut down the chain. It does not have the ability to continuously cycle through the links in the chain. To set the chain to start at the original first link: Press and hold on the Bin Chain Status widget while in the job Set the Product and Active Link to the original starting product node/link Note: If running multiple chains, reset the first chain to its first link then accept (green arrow). Then, go back into the widget and reset the next chain to its first link. Repeat for additional chains. STOPPING AND RESUMING JOBS With software 2.1 and newer, the Viper 4 will let operators know what is currently loaded (which product configuration is selected) and what is being requested by the job (what was originally used during the job). This allows operators to see that the product configuration does not match the specific job.

Viper 4 Hawkeye Setup GENERAL PROCESS FLOW Set up a machine profile as normal (as detailed in the machine configuration setup) but stop before setting up a boom profile (section setup). Do not check any of the boom configurations from the database. Leave them blank and select OK.
