3 Chapter 1 INTRODUCTION Machina Mobile allows for fully automated threat assessment by checking for the modifications of a vehicle s undercarriage. Vehicles drive over the bidirectional platform while the system compiles multiple high resolution images of a vehicle s undercarriage, making it easier to see any threatening objects that may be hidden on top of an axle or within a wheel well. When the vehicle passes over the platform, a motion detector turns on high beam light LEDs and activates a high resolution color camera. A separate portable camera located in the platform s vicinity can capture the license plate of the vehicle as well as the face of the driver. Images from the platform and portable cameras are sent to the system controller that will process them and will display a full image of the undercarriage. If an active database is setup, the system will provide license plate as well as driver information. The system is able to automatically provide visual and audible alarms about foreign objects in the undercarriage area, driver IDs or license plates. This manual will address the software operation of both portable and in ground units. Page 3 of 20

4 Chapter 2 OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 2.1. Vantage Video Intelligence System general information Double click on the Vantage Video Intelligence System desktop icon. When prompted, type in User Name and Password (as provided by system administrator). Default username is admin, no password. 6 2.2. Main Menu The Main menu allows the user to make system setting and to see system information. Below is a list of all possible selection and their use: File View Tools About Use to exit the program Use to reset window layout and bring the layout to its factory default This has four possible choices: Devices, Settings, Active Clients and Import. See <2.2.1 Tools Menu> for more details. When clicked, a pop up window will appear and will display the current software release version. Click OK to close the window Tools Menu The Tools Menu allows for advanced device detection and setting: Devices Settings Active Clients Import Use this section for edge device detection, like LPR and UVIS camera. See < Device> for more details This section allows for advanced system setting. See < Settings> for more details This window shows all active clients (workstations) connected to the UVIS system. Checking the box in front of each user name enables the Disconnect, and it allows the operator to disconnect the client workstation from the UVIS system. The Active Client is identified by User Name and IP address. The logging time and the connection status is also shown. Will allow for the admin to import an existing database for License Plate Information and/or for Face Information. See < Import> for more details. Page 6 of 20

7 Devices This option allows the user to see a list of attached devices (cameras). The cameras are identified by Name, Channel, IP Address, Video Port, MAC Address, and Manufacturer. The name bar allows the devices to be ordered by any of these identification tags. In front of every device, there is a green, orange or red dot. This shows the status of the camera. Green means that the camera is online and connected to the software. Orange means there is a pending connection. Red means that the camera is not on line or not connected to the software (there is a communication problem between the camera and the software). When a camera is selected, an arrow is displayed in front of the camera number. Double clicking on the camera name will pop up a window displaying various information about the camera. Clicking the Verify button on this screen will verify that the camera is online and the information displayed is correct. Page 7 of 20

8 See below for buttons located on the bottom side of the window. Use the arrows to change the priority of the camera. Select a camera and the Setting button will become available. Arrow buttons Settings Detect Add Will change the appliance priority in the list Pressing this button enables access to a generic settings window for the selected camera. When connecting to a server (VMS or embedded DVR/NVR) this is option not available. By pressing this button, a new window will open that will allow for detection of any new appliances to be added to the system. On the <Choose Manufacturer> window, select the manufacturer. If the manufacturer is unknown, use the <Select All> button. By pressing the <Detect> button, a new window will open: <Online Device Detection>. Select the appliance you want added to the system and click <Add>. The new appliance is now shown in the devices list. This button allows for the manual addition of a CCTV appliance. The following information is required: Device Name, IP Address, Device Manufacturer, Device Type (four options can be selected from a drop down menu), Video Port, User Name, Password, Stream Type (two options can be chosen from a drop down menu). The <Verify> button will search for appliance to confirm the information, but will not proceed to the next step. The <OK> will proceed to the next step. The new appliance is now shown in the devices list. Page 8 of 20

9 Edit Remove Close This will open the settings window and will allow modifications to the appliance. Clicking this button will remove the appliance. Clicking this button will close the window and return to the previous screen Settings This menu allows for initial settings of the system. There are eight tabs, some of which can only be used if proper licenses have been purchased: System Users Groups LPR Groups Face Groups Mass Notification Analytics UVIS The <<System>> tab allows the user to configure server ports, alarms, Active Directory and CMS. 10 The <General> section information is updated automatically with a new install: Server Port Event Port Automatically Clean Alarm Logs Alarm Log Save Days Image Save Disk Play Alert Sound Speech Set up port for video Set up port for analytics events When this checkbox is checked, it cleans the alarm logs Default 180 days if the Automatically Clean Alarm Logs is checked Provide path to where images will be saved Select the alert tone Check this box to replace the alert tone with speech The <Active Directory> section synchronizes with active directory on the network (if available). <Alarm Configuration> section allows the user to set alarms: Alarm Device Name Alarm COM Port Alarm Out Count After Time out Connects to an Alarm edge device through a COM port Specify COM port where the alarm edge device is connected Shows the alarm outputs available on the edge device Indicates action to be taken once the alarm has been acknowledged The CMS (Central Management Server) Configuration will facilitate connection to an existing server. Fill in the required IP information of the CMS and select Test CMS, which will then ask for a username and password for the CMS. The <<Users>> tab is used to create user accounts and to set certain admin rights. <Auto Logout In> option, allows the user to be automatically logged out from the application, due to inactivity, within a predefined time frame (from 30 seconds to 1 hour). Check mark <Allow Concurrent Connections> to allow the user to log in on multiple workstations at the same time. Page 10 of 20

11 The bottom side of the tab has <Add > and <Edit > buttons. These commands allows the user to add or to edit a user account. By clicking any of these buttons, the following window (with tabs) will be displayed: Adding or editing a user: In the <<General>> tab fill in the required information. By checking the <Account is disabled>, the user account will be disabled and will not be able to use his/her credentials; In the <<Member of>> tab click <Add > and select the security level: Manager or User (create other custom groups in the USER GROUP tab). Note: unless permissions are set in the <<Users>> tab, by default, the user has all rights; In the <<Permissions>> tab, select what permissions allowed for the current user. The <<Groups>> tab allows the administrator to group numerous users based on access rights. Page 11 of 20

12 On the bottom section of the tab, the <Hide group without any members> checkbox, when checked, will hide groups that do not have any members. <Add...> or <Edit > buttons, will add a new group or modify an existing one. By clicking any of these buttons, the following window (with tabs) will be displayed: Adding or editing a user: In the <<General>> tab fill in the required information; The <<Member>> tab, displays all the users included in this group. By clicking <Add > a new user can be added to this group (members should have been already added in the <<Users>> tab); In the <<Permissions>> tab, select permissions levels for the current group. Use the <<LPR Groups>> tab to create access groups (white list, black list or time schedule) for license plates. The default groups can be renamed. Page 12 of 20

By clicking any of these buttons, the following window (with tabs) will be displayed: Adding or editing a group: In the <<General tab>> fill in the required information; In the <Members> tab, click <<Add >> and select LPRs to add to this group. Select members from the list created by using the <<LPR Accounts>> tab. Use the <<FACE Groups>> tab to create access groups (white list, black list or time schedule) for faces. By clicking any of these buttons, the following window (with tabs) will be displayed: Adding or editing a group: In the <<General>> tab fill in the required information; o Use the Color section to highlight faces identification in the report based on the group. In the <<Members>> tab click <Add > and select faces to be added to this group. Members should have been already added in the <<Face Accounts>> tab; Use the <<Mass Notification>> tab to send messages to select contacts. Page 14 of 20

15 This tab has two sections. Use the top one for outgoing configuration. Use the bottom section to setup notification rules. The three buttons at the bottom: <Add...>, <Edit > or <Delete>, are used to add new rules, modify or delete existing ones. See image below: In the Users section, a drop down menu will display users with contact information. Select a user and provide notification requirements: or SMS. Use the <<Analytics>> tab to setup the analytics operating parameters of the system. The bottom section of the tab displays the license registration information for VCA only. See image below: Area of Interest The interest area used for analytics detection. The larger the area, the more time and processing power is used. There are three ways to set up the area of interest: 1. Click on <Define> and then use your mouse to define the window of interest; 2. Use XY coordinates Page 15 of 20

Use image pixel size (Width/Height) If <Auto Frame Interval> checkbox is selected, the system will automatically adjust the time interval for video processing speed Will enable Video Content Analytics Will enable License Plate Recognition settings Will enable face recognition settings Represents the match confidence for face recognition The duration (hours) that the system will keep a temporary list to match unidentified faces (faces not in a group). Displays the triangular identification lines over a detected face. If available, will display the name of the person identified If available, will display the group of the person identified If available, will display the picture of the person identified Use the <<UVSS>> tab to enable the under vehicle inspection system. 17 Import The import action, allows an administrator to import License Plate and Face information from an existing database Main Ribbon The Main Ribbon allows the user to access important functions. Certain functions are only selectable in their respective tabs. Below is a list of all possible selections and their use: Logout Devices Export Archive Notification Acknowledge Add Note Find Settings Used to log out of the current user When selected, will display all devices connected to this application. See < Devices> for more details Export events list to a csv file (UVIS Events tab) Archive events list (UVIS Events tab) Open the Mass Notification window to send out notifications via , SMS, twitter (UVIS Events tab) Pressing this button will acknowledge the currently selected event(s) (UVIS Events tab) Add a note to the currently selected event (UVIS Events tab) Opens the Find window to search for events based on specified parameters (UVIS Events tab) Will open the Settings menu. 18 Reports Alarms Will open a report window that allows Preview, Printing and Editing (of the report layout) of any required information Will enable or disable all sensors attached to the system 2.4. Camera Panel The Camera Panel displays a list of all appliances (cameras, NVRs) added to the system and available for use Analytics Tabs The Analytics tabs show images, alerts, and events. The <<UVSS View>> is considered the live view and displays the camera s current view as well as the most current under vehicle capture (LPR, face, and under vehicle). Note: Add cameras by clicking and dragging a camera from the camera menu to one of the empty spaces Page 18 of 20

19 The <<UVSS Events>> tab displays captured images and information of the vehicle s under carriage, license plate, and face recognition. The <<LPR Accounts>> tab displays the list of predefined license plate accounts and information. Page 19 of 20
