Overview The Arrive AirPoint (AAP) Wireless Media Gateway is a technology platform that is comprised of video processing software which runs on a system-on-chip and allows users to present their content via connected projectors and flat panel displays. It uses ad-hoc wireless connections as well as the WiFi LAN infrastructure without connecting wires or having to download software applications on personal devices of users. AAP technology is embedded in several Arrive products which offer standalone or integrated functionality with advanced AV wired switching side-by-side with Arrive AirPoint wireless media presentation capability. Arrive AirPoint is a tiny network video processing device with an in-built wireless access point providing a versatile function with a Universal Wireless Media presentation capability. It supports connections for Apple AirPlay and WiFi Miracast wireless media streaming platforms out-of-the-box with HD video display resolution. This means that compatible Apple, Windows and Android OS device users can share their on-screen media natively without proprietary apps, or attach wires or dongles to their personal devices (no installation or download required). Arrive AirPoint has a zero client footprint. Arrive AirPoint has been designed with simple setup and ease of use in mind to provide a true walk-up-and-use experience. The device functions as a receiver end-point much like a wireless printer deployed on a network - but differently. Arrive offers several options for you to choose the best way to connect your Bring-Your-Own-devices to large display screens in shared work spaces such as huddle rooms, meeting rooms, classrooms and training facilities. This document provides instructions for upgrading the Arrive AirPoint software to the latest version, that covers compatibility with the Apple ios9 for use with AirPlay mirroring. It is applicable for all Arrive AirPoint embedded devices. For individual product information, please refer to User or Quick Start Guides for Arrive devices that have embedded Arrive AirPoint inside. Before You Begin It is also assumed that required hardware set up is complete, and other requirements such as power, network and internet access, as needed, are configured and available, and that you have already connected an Arrive MediaPoint device before. This AirPoint Software Update Guide is applicable for the following Arrive products: AAP-1011-BYMG - AirPoint Media Collaboration Gateway with Universal Wireless BYOD AMP-1041-BYMG- MediaPoint Unified Media Collaboration Gateway with Wired/ Wireless BYOD AMP-1041-BYMH-Tilt-Top MediaPoint Unified Media Collaboration Cable Hub with Wired/Wireless BYOD AMP-1041-FTMH -Flat-Top MediaPoint Unified Media Collaboration Cable Hub with Wired/Wireless BYOD Please review the products specification sheets available at the Arrive website (download at Installation Guides, Quick Start Guides, and User Guides are available for download from the Arrive PartnerPoint ( 5
On-Screen Display Elements Arrive AirPoint uses an on-screen display to convey the basic connection instructions for wireless access to the device. The splash screen is standardized and appears as a default tutorial. It provides the hostname, IP address, and SSID login code for the specific Arrive AirPoint device. Figure 1: Boot-up screen The boot-up screen transitions to the ready-to-connect user tutorial screen which, by default uses the Peer-to-Peer mode, signifying that the device is ready to receive wireless communications. Pay specific attention to the Local Host IP address which will be used for setting software updates. Figure 2: User tutorial screen Arrive AirPoint - Software Update Guide 6
Software Update Guide Step 1. Connecting to the WiFi network Provided all installation pre-requisites are made such as connection of AirPoint device to a display and power supply (see separate product installation guides for reference), including access to the network via a wireless AP. To perform an Over-the-Air (OTA) software update, the device needs a WiFi internet connection to be able to access the update files. 1. The AirPoint devices are powered-on automatically once connected to a power supply. A boot-up screen will also show automatically on the display, followed up by the default splash-screen with the wireless BYOD tutorial. 2. Select the AirPoint device SSID (as seen on the splash screen of the device you wish to update) on your laptop. By default, the SSID for the device is Arrive-APXXX with no security code. Note: Use of laptop as an administrator device is for reference only. The setup can also be done via other devices such as tablets, PCs etc. which have WiFi connectivity capability and can connect directly to the SSID of the AirPoint device. Enable wireless settings on your device and select this SSID. Note : This SSID is not constant and will change from time-to-time. IP address to access internal web server Figure 3: SSID and IP address 3. The Arrive AirPoint runs an internal webserver. Once you have connected to the device, open a web browser and type the Local Host IP address provided on the screen. The default IP address is This is the IP address of that webserver, and should be used only by the System Administrator to setup the Arrive AirPoint. 4. A virtual remote control utility app called Airfun (provided by Realtek) opens. 7
Figure 4: Virtual Remote Utility application Note: Users have the option to install the free Airfun App on their devices simply by clicking on the Download for Windows button or from the Google Play store online through this link: google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.realtek.airfun.client. After the installation is complete, a shortcut to the app will be created on your laptop. Click on this shortcut, and the Airfun window pops up. This is the preferred method with navigation directly from your laptop or tablet device. Otherwise,it is also possible to access the on-screen remote from the AirPoint webserver by typing the Local Host IP address provided on your browser. The Setup can be accessed in two ways: Preferred method: a. By clicking on the Setup icon which brings up the Setup Page UI on your device. This setup is our preferred method and we highly suggest that you use this method. For the sake of illustration, we will also show the secondary method of an online upgrade. b. From the Setup page, the WiFi Connection shows On and the Device Name (SSID), which matches the SSID shown on screen is listed. As an example, we are using "ARRIVE-AP-80E5". Connect to the network via the WIFI Access Point (AP) by clicking on WiFi Connection from the Setup menu. A list of available WiFi access points will show. Arrive AirPoint - Software Update Guide 8

Secondary Method: The secondary method when connecting to a WiFi access point, is done by clicking on the virtual remote control icon (see Figure 8 below). a. Access Setup within the virtual remote control UI on your device by clicking on the Setup icon again. Your display screen will then show the Setup page. From hereon, you can refer to your display screen when navigating through Setup by using the Left/Right navigation arrows on the virtual remote, then select OK to enter the desired settings page. Use the Return button to go to the previous page or home screen. Type this IP address on your web browser to access the network setup once again - but this time you need to be connected to the SSID of the WiFi network to which the AirPoint device is connected. Refer to Figure 7 on details of the splash screen. Important software version information Arrive AirPoint software version prior to this update is Version G or (earlier). This is the initial software version shipped with Arrive MediaPoint embedded devices prior to the release of Apple ios9 (as of October 2015). For users running Version G (or earlier) you will need to run the upgrade utility two times. The first upgrade will update the version to G and the second version will upgrade to the ios9 compatible Version G. For users already running Version G you will only need to run the upgrade utility once in order to upgrade to the ios9 compatible Version G. Step 2: Updating the Arrive AirPoint software Note: Arrive AirPoint requires a connection to internet for OTA (Over The Air software update). Blocking the internet access will stop the AirPoint from receiving updated firmware and patches. For Advanced Network Setup, please refer to the individual AirPoint product User Guide. As with the WiFi connection network setup, there are two options to access the Online Upgrade function with the use of the AirFun application. 13
Option 1- Directly via AirFun application Setting function a. Enter the new IP address that is visible on the AirPoint screen as local host IP address on your web browser and use the AirFun application to connect to the AirPoint device Setup. Take note that you will have to do the online update 2x if your AirPoint device is is Version G or (earlier).
