1 LTE RBS6000 & OSS Field Maintenance LZU R1A Description This course is a task-based course covering hardware replacement and maintenance of the RBS 6000 Family*. The participants will perform hardware fault localization, hardware replacement and configuration tasks on a RBS 6000 type. On completion of this course the participants will also be familiar with the features of the operation and maintenance tools Element Manager and CLI (Command Line Interface). The participants will also perform an Emergency Recovery. This course also provides students with an understanding of the Operation Support System (OSS) tools available for monitoring and locating faults on the enodeb network elements. Students will learn to access and navigate the OSS LTE tools and command line interface in the LTE network using practical (hands-on) sessions. *RBS6000 Family consisting of RBS: 6101, 6102, 6201, 6202, 6301, 6401, 6501, and 6601 Learning objectives On completion of this course the participants will be able to: 1 Explain on overview level the LTE RAN Site Concept for RBS 1.1 Explain the basic LTE Radio Access Network 1.2 Identify and describe the equipment associated with the RBS Identify the power connections on the RBS (MU) and (RRU) 1.4 Explain the Power and Battery Cabinets (PBC) on Site for the RBS Identify LTE Interface for Transmission on Site 1.6 Identify and describe additional site equipment 2 Use the Customer Product Information (CPI) 2.1 Explain the CPI Library structure of the node 2.2 Find information in the Library with use of regular expression 2.3 Find operational instructions (OPI) and maintain the node according to the OPI 2.4 Find additional information on an alarm and solve the problem with the help of the CPI and Element Manager 3 Use Element manager to operate and maintain the RBS Download and start the Element Manager 3.2 Access and use the different Views ; Containment, Equipment, IP, Licensing, Radio Network and the Software 3.3 Find the alarm list and comment on the Alarms and Events on the Alarm and Event Log 3.4 Access the property help feature from each window

2 4 Perform maintenance tasks on the RBS 6000 nodes 4.1 Trace the uplink and downlink traffic paths through the RBS 6000 hardware 4.2 Find Faulty Hardware units and replace them 4.3 Manage Configuration Versions from Element manager and the CLI 5 Connect to a node using CLI and also using NCLI 5.1 Understand basic commands using CLI and using NCLI 5.2 Have a basic understanding of the functionality and technology used in CLI and NCLI 5.3 Understand the basic principles behind the Managed Object Model (MOM) 6 Perform OSS tasks and Emergency Recovery 6.1 Create a CV using the SMO Application in OSS 6.2 Retrieve a CV using the SMO Application in OSS 6.3 Perform Emergency Recovery 7 Describe the function of the OSS-RC at a high level and access the OSS 7.1 Explain why network management is necessary, and outline the role of OSS-RC as a network management system 7.2 Briefly describe the overall functionality offered by OSS-RC 7.3 Identify the LTE OSS-RC applications 7.4 Describe how access to applications is controlled the in OSS 7.5 Access the OSS from the user s computer 7.6 Manage the user s OSS password 7.7 Learn to navigate the OSS user interface 7.8 Describe the OSS directory structure and file naming requirements 7.9 Perform file transfers between the OSS and the user s computer using ftp and cut & paste 8 Describe the features and functions of the OSS documentation tools 8.1 List the tasks that OSS users can perform using ALEX documentation tool 8.2 Launch and navigate the ALEX tool from the OSS 8.3 Describe the structure of the OSS documentation library 8.4 Search the documentation library for specific information 9 Describe the features and functions of the OSS Network Explorer (ONE) 9.1 List the tasks that can be performed with the ONE tool using documentation 9.2 Launch and navigate the ONE tool 9.3 Configure the ONE tool network topology to show selected network elements 9.4 Launch OSS applications from the ONE tool 9.5 Access the enodeb using the ONE tool 10 Manage the enodeb using the enodeb Element Manager and the command line interface 10.1 List the tasks that can be performed with the enodeb Element Manager tool 10.2 Locate and use the Element Manager user documentation in the OSS CPI 10.3 Launch and navigate the enodeb Element Manager to view enodeb parameters and status 10.4 Locate managed objects in the enodeb 10.5 Locate disabled/unlocked managed objects in the enodeb
