1 INTRODUCTION This document gives an overview on installing XPR Enterprise Konica Minolta Embedded and deploying the software to an MFP. A discussion of specific settings within the software are out of the scope of this document. For this, see es/xprenterprisekm_e mbeddedconfiguration_guide.pdf This document is relevant for XPR KM Embedded version 5 and above. Pre-requisites Print server must run Windows Server 2003R2sp2 or later with print server role installed. Pcounter Pro for Windows must be installed on the server. The Pcounter server must also be the Data Server for the organisation (Pcounter Data Service must be installed and running).net Framework 3.5 sp 1 MFPs must be running required firmware to support OpenAPI version 2.3.x connections. Each MFP must have a print queue defined, which must be on a Pcounter Port if print accounting is required. 1. Preparing the MFP Browse to the MFP in question and log in as the Administrator account. Please note: It is recommended that all MFP Administrator passwords are the same, as XPR KM needs to authenticate when deploying the software. Once logged in select Security > Device Certificate Setting > New Registration. Click here to access further How to Guides For Support Click here Select Create and install a self-signed certificate. Fill in the form presented and press OK.

2 Remember Discussions of all features of XPR KM are available in the full manual. Even if XPR KM is to be used for pull printing, each MFP still needs a dedicated Windows print queue on the server. If print accounting is required these queues must be on Pcounter Ports. Required fields: Country must be set to UK Set the Validity period to the maximum of 3650 days Encryption key type should be RSA-1024_SHA1 All other fields must be completed however their content is unimportant. Best Practice Tips Setup and configure all devices as per Steps 1-5, then deploy to all devices in one go as per Step 6. Change the MFP Administrator passwords so that they are all the same. This is not essential however the password will need to be repeatedly changed in XPR KM Configuration when deploying the software if the passwords are different. Once the certificate is applied, reboot the device. Once rebooted, log back in as Administrator and select Network > OpenAPI Setting. Set Use SSL/TLS to SSL only. Next select TCP Socket Setting and check the option Use SSL/TLS. Reboot the MFP.

Installing XPR Enterprise Konica Minolta Embedded The software can be downloaded from our XPR downloads page: Once downloaded, run the MSI file. Read and accept the licence agreement. If do not agree with the terms of the licence agreement click Cancel here. Otherwise click Next. Detailed discussion on Pcounter pull printing can be found in our Pull Printing guide. XPR KM needs to be installed on the Pcounter Data Server in a multiple server environment, however pull queues an print queues can be hosted on any Pcounter server. If this is the case, XPR KM will need to be configured for cross-server pull printing. See our Cross-Server Pull Printing guide for detailed discussions. Click Next when prompted and choose to install for all users. Click Finish once complete and launch the program.

4 When the software is first launched you will be asked to evaluate or activate the product. If you have purchased the software and have a valid licence key select Activate this product, click OK and enter the key. If you are installing a trial or do not yet have your licence key select Evaluate this product and click OK. The trial period will last 30 days. 3. Searching for devices To search for KM devices on your network, select Device Management from the main menu (right-hand side of the software) then select Search for Devices. All devices that are currently live on the network should be found. If your devices are not found: Ensure that they are powered on and have a live network connection. Change the search protocol used under Search Protocol and search again. Reboot the missing devices. If the above still fails contact AIT support at support@ait.co.uk.

5 4. Configuring print queues This step will need to be performed for each device. In Device Management, select one of your devices and click Device Details. Click Add Association to load the Device configuration:

6 Enter the print queue for the device in question in the top control, captioned Associate with print queue. If configuring for pull printing enter the pull queues into the lower control, captioned Pcounter pull queues. Please note: A discussion of pull printing and the configuring of Pcounter pull queues is outside of the scope of this document. Further details on pull printing can be found in our Pull Printing guide: A new device profile will need to be created and each device will need to be assigned to this profile. To do this, click Select followed by Add. Enter a name for the profile in the prompt. Configure all other settings and prices as desired. Please note: full details on all available options are covered in rprisekm_embeddedconfiguration_guide.pdf Click OK when complete and select the profile you have just created to assign to the device. Ensure that the correct name is now displayed under Configuration profile. Click OK to close the Device configuration. Back on the Device Management screen, check the Licensed check-box to licence this device. Repeat Step 4 for all devices, assigning each one to the new profile you created.

7 5. Other Settings Select the General option from the main menu and scroll down to Administration. Enter the MFP Administrator password into the control. As previously stated, a discussion of the other available settings accessed through the General, Pricing and Applications sections of the software are outside of the scope of this document. The desired settings for these should be correctly configured now before attempting to deploy the software as changes to most of these changes require undeployment and redeployment of the software. 6. Device Deployment Important: Before attempting to deploy the software you must first ensure that there are no errors or warnings displayed by the device, as it is not possible to deploy an OpenAPI application to a Konica Minolta MFP if the device is in any state other than Ready. This includes, but is not limited to: Paper out/low warnings Toner out/low warnings Paper jams Drum/fuser/belt life warnings. To check for warnings, browse to the MFP and log in as the Administrator. Any warnings will be displayed at the top of the page. The device should read that it is in Admin Mode (as above) and not display any other errors. Some models may display Ready to Print instead of Admin Mode. This is also acceptable. So long as there are no errors. Once checked, you MUST log out from Administrator mode as this will also prevent the deployment of XPR KM Embedded.

8 On the XPR KM Embedded Configuration, select Device Deployment. Check the Authentication Registered checkbox for each device you with to deploy to. This will also check the other options for Print Registered and Scan Registered. These are optional, and should be checked if you want to deploy the XPR Print Release and XPR Scan features. If these features are not wanted these boxes can be unchecked. Click Apply Changes to deploy to all selected devices. Once complete, all selected features should be in green: Next select Service from the main menu and click Start Service. Once started, all Applications will be displayed as listening in green. IP Listening will only be displayed in green if you are using and have configured IP authentication devices. If the XPR KM service was running prior to deployment, you will need to restart the service in the same manner as described above. Deployment of XPR KM Embedded is now complete. 9 7. Troubleshooting Deployment If any of the deployments failed, the feature will be displayed in red. Hovering over the IP address will display the error returned from the MFP if there was one. Possible errors Failed to login to device o Ensure the device is not in use o Ensure no-one is logged into the device web service as Administrator o Ensure the correct Administrator password is entered on the General settings screen as per Step 5. o The device is displaying an error or a warning as per Step 6. SSL not configured o Ensure an SSL certificate has been applied and SSL enabled as per Step 1. If there is no specific error listed and the on hover message is simply Authentication failed to register there are a number of possible causes: The device profile may still be set to Default. XPR KM requires a custom profile to be created. Ensure you have set the device to a custom profile as per Step 4. The device may not have enough memory to allow OpenAPI applications. Earlier models require the extended memory module to be installed. Contact your KM dealer. The device may not have an HDD installed. Contact your KM dealer. There may be an issue with the firmware version in use on the MFP. The current recommended OpenAPI firmware version for all devices is available from: pdf. Contact your KM dealer to acquire the necessary firmware version.
